  1. Apparently, the little guys in the Death Star hangar bay in ANH were officially named at C7. Not sure if that's what flies up next to Vader in Star Tours. There are a few good renditions / pictures I've found thanks to Locitus, but is there an official set of guidelines regarding building a kit to be an ...SK? TS? ST? The main pic reminded me of Star Tours: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Spacetrooper/Canon http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/gallery/image/2539-joe-johnston-as-space-trooper/ I'd love to make one since they're as canon as anything else in ANH. I found a few hints at build threads online but couldn't get access to their 501st garrison's site.
  2. Just get like 20 helmet kits, Tony😉
  3. Cool, make one for yours and we can bounce ideas around. Yours rusted or marked up anywhere? My 1st had rust so I exchanged it but the new one has machining marks all over the barrel shroud. Disappointing at first, but I kinda like that it's not so AFB. I can weather the scope and the rest to match
  4. Or...! I could sand down the rounded corners of the S&T grip until it looks better. The battery itself takes up most of the grip but the inside corners are reinforced a little. Then it stays functional and a replacement piece couldn't be too expensive if I ruin it:
  5. Sorry to bounce around so much topic-wise. So many ideas about all the different parts! The grip comes off via two screws to expose the motor which is more securely attached. To remove it I'd have to disassemble the whole trigger assembly and I don't want to yet and don't have an Allen set somehow: Once the battery is off, it looks like the DVH handle is barely wide enough to fit on the trigger assembly if I cut off all the flat parts:
  6. I pm'd ya. Sorry about that. Should be cleared up now eh?
  7. Oh I'm still excited, don't get me wrong. It just seems like a big deal to change their medium. Could be insignificant or even an improvement in terms of detail sharpness, but that's not my expertise. I wouldn't give my place up, I'll be glad to have full kits of both plastics. Can't wait to see how the helmet lining ends up looking
  8. That's what I was thinking. Soldering female 3.5mm jacks to the speaker out and to the PTT out. Then it'll have a different click before and after. It's the chatter keeping me from switching to an iComm or rom/FX
  9. lol and they won't tell us when it's going to ship. My expectations are confused right now. At least I have my ATA in ABS😒
  10. I just did a second coat on all the grey, about to do pinstripes and vocoder. But I got it off with a toothpick dipped in paint thinner. Next time I'll use a q-tip cut in half to have an absorbent end so I don't just smear around the dissolved paint. Just go slowly and keep looking back n forth at references. Try to do it when you're calm and full so your hand doesn't shake (happens to me). If you want you can use painters tape like 1/8 inch away from your pencil lines to keep them straight or just use it like normal and place right on the line and paint over it then pull it off. The frown is more artistic, I used a small flat brush and use a medium amount of paint on your brush. Paint each tooth's sides down like an oval rather than up like an hourglass and leave a small bit of white like the crl shows. The right ear as you wear it was easier for me (ATA ABS) to see the rectangle than the left but I evened everything out on my second coat. I used humbrol btw
  11. Black soft parts for a TK makes sense. They're on preorder for this summer for $50 or $100 if you want real wool. Even has a magnet holding the metal piece on as to not puncture the fabric. Looks good in their pictures at least. Not shelling out $1000 more just for a uniform made of wool, tho! Yikes... But their TK lid kit is only $100... Weird. Anyways, thanks all. (Finally found the sentence in the right wookieepedia article which says black for TKs)
  12. Watching the theatrical DVDs, I spotted a few colors for their suits: olive drab, darker grey (might just be olive), lighter grey, white, and black. Anovos offers olive and black and I wanted to get a cap for helmet-off pics etc. So, do the colors indicate rank? Would make sense if Tarkin is a boss in olive vs the detention block dude in black who wouldn't be as high up, (but higher than the dome helmets?) Or do they only indicate post or position, as in Tarkin and his crew don't really physically do anything there. Just wondering if anyone has decided or if it's up to us
  13. I've pm'd him on here and the rpf, I'm sure he's a busy guy tho. Thanks everyone
  14. Vern! hoped you'd chime in on this. It's listed by a trusted vender as converted. Could I ask your opinion on whether he's filled it already? (He just hasn't responded yet) Can't find pics of an A2 without the band and it looks like there might be a stripe of fresh paint. I see that it's thinner than the 38 he's also selling but you're the expert. If not, how's the 38 look? I liked the A2's clean paint job but I was originally looking for a normal 38. Here's the link: ----------
  15. CRL (my iPhone changes it to Carl, lol)... "Carl" says M38 or M19, so I wanted to make sure an A1 model without the brass band would be acceptable for level 2 and/or 3
  16. The one I linked to was made of aluminum too, so it didn't seem crazy to me
  17. That's what I was thinking too; I'm using a steel base gun so I want to do a fully functional all-metal replica version using the replica counters sold here by... somebody. I'll get a real Sterling and authentic parts after I'm rich
  18. I bet it's easier or cheaper to cast aluminum than brass. Pointless project if it turned out more expensive than a real one
  19. Yeah lol "m39" logically should exist but it's not that thing. Figured it was worth asking about for $50. I had never heard of this site before... it's cause nobody endorses it😋 I'll take a look at that rpf scope project, that's what I was trying to find when I stumbled on this cheap one. I gotta make an account there! Thanks all
  20. Considering this scope as its aluminum and much cheaper than a real one: http://www.evolutiontoys.com.ar/index.php?id=item&item=408 I'd have to do too much work to get a brass layer under the black paint. Plus the lenses are weirdly sized/placed. I'd love an accurate M38 reproduction scope, they'd sell like hot cakes especially if you could see through them. Idk why SDS or MR don't sell E11 parts😕 Update: I was directed towards an aluminum DL-44 scope project on the rpf so I'll investigate the heck out of that. Cool.
  21. http://www.evolutiontoys.com.ar/index.php?id=item&item=408 I want to get one just to see how it is. Looks just okay to me but it is all aluminum. Can't afford a real one at $200+ on no-refund auction sites. Anyone have experience or thoughts?
  22. I can honestly live with the handle, it's the end cap that bugs me. What's not perfect on the MR? How's the scope btw? i couldn't tell from videos
