The Newsletter official launch made by Paul, Feb 16th 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 · IP Hello everyone, if you haven't heard the First Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment administration team has been re-elected and is already working to make 2010 another great year for stormtroopers. The command staff includes: Detachment Leader - Paul Hoeffer Executive Officer- Terrell Reber Provost Marshall - Brian Robinson Membership Liaison - Bill Haggis Webmaster - Aaron Fimister Armor Chief - Mark Gage Merchandising Team - Wyatt Stephens and Dave Mondo I'm also creating the position of Communications Officer (equivalent of a Public Relations Officer) to take on the creation of newsletters and helping keep people informed of all the goings on in the detachment. Some of the projects that will be released in the new few weeks include: New T-shirt run : Finally! The vote was long ago and it's getting off the ground after some delay in squaring away the artwork. Look for an interest thread in the new few days. Site Upgrades : we've moved to the latest version of Invision and are still tweaking the skin to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of ESB. This should wrap up in the next week. FISD Academy : This is our new content site that will include everything *but* the forums. You can view a sneak peak of the home page by following this link (http://www.whitearmor.net/Home.png). The finishing touches are being put in to place as we track down the last of the images we want to use and make final updates to ensure the CRL/EIB are up to date. Look for this to launch in March And after that? Well, the web team will take a much needed break but time stops for no trooper. Expect to see more merch ongoing such as trading cards and other goodies to separate you from your pay chit, and moving forward with a monthly newsletter. There's always something new in the world of trooping: whether it's new information on an old costume (like a new way of doing shins) or an entirely new one (like how to paint a Stormtrooper Commander), we're excited to have you on board for the journey. Thigh ammo pack positioning for ANH
Sly11 replied to CableGuy's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
We will most certainly have a discussion around CRL amendments, as we do several times each year. Don't forget that CRL's are a combination of wording and images and both need to be taken into consideration when building a costume, so sometimes an image can tell a better story, or add something meaningful to the text. -

I was referencing an example from the past not stating any hard facts Glen I think this thread has been suitably derailed so let’s leave it to the DO’s and Max so he can get approved. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
TK-42199 Requesting ANH-S Centurion Status (499)
Sly11 replied to Ninety-Nine's topic in Request Centurion Status
That makes it easier to understand what the suggestion was for sure, thanks Joseph. In that case yes mounting it evenly makes a lot of sense, but may I suggest for clarity moving forward, if you want something like that nice and clear for everyone and easier for the DO office when doing approvals, that we consider updating the CRL wording so it is apparent. You have two conundrums here with the knee pack. If you want the center box aligned with the cover strip, you may well not be able to have the rivets even due to the make of armour and or the size of the trooper if they are trimming their kit to fit well. -

I would also mention that a suggestion is only ever just that, a suggestion. If it is not in the CRL, then it can not be enforced as a knock back, only a suggestion towards more accuracy and there fore in cases where it is difficult to correct, you would simply leave it be. I too could not find any mention of the knee pack adjustment in Max's EI approval, so am interested to know where this advice originated. -
Wow these are great. One thing to remember, as this will be a coin for the year, a gold version will be made and numbered for the new Expert Infantry coin, so what ever the design, they will be getting something special.

Imperial Trooper Suit for approval to the 501st
Sly11 replied to TrooperHubbz's topic in New Member Introductions
Welcome aboard Richard! Glen has posted some good threads to get your teeth into, but certainly feel free to ask loads of questions, we are here to help. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Aiden, have you started any of your kit yet? Don't despair, none of us had built armour when we started out in this hobby. Building armour it is a skill you very quickly acquire once you start, and trust me, it is not as daunting as it may seem to you at this present moment. Post up a photo of your kit first, then choose a piece that you think might be easier to start on, post up a photo of that, and we will guide you through the process. You are not in this alone and I promise you, your confidence will indeed grow once you make your first move. You can do it, I have every faith in you.

FISD 15th Anniversary Coin Design Contest Closed and Winner announced Design entries Close May 1st Attention all members with serious design skills, here is your opportunity to step up to the plate and exercise your talent. This is FISD's 15th anniversary year come July, and your design could be the one chosen to commemorate this fantastic occasion. The winning entry will be made into the detachments celebratory coin marking the milestone in true FISD fashion. The coin design is first and foremost but we are also considering running a patch if the design translates well or is a good accompaniment the coin. So how do you enter? Glad you asked! Here is the low-down 1. The contest will be open to all approved members. If you can see this post, you can enter! 2. The competition will begin officially TODAY 28th March and will run until Sat 1st May. The winner will be chosen by your command staff through a Poll and the results will be made available after the vote closes. 3. The number of designs you can enter is only limited by your imagination. 4. You are welcome to use any FISD logos but we are really looking for a unique design that embodies FISD and what we stand for. Due to current Legion merch regulations there are specific things that need to be included. 5. Standard 1.75 inch size and you must design both sides of the coin so two designs, heads and tails can be submitted as a single entry. 6. Design MUST include full Detachment name (1st Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment), 501st Legion, Must contain the words Anniversary and the year 2021 plus the number 15 (we had Roman numerals on our 10th anniversary so they are definitely fine to use. Also must have the LFL C and this can appear on the edge as it can be laser etched on the final product. 7. All entries become property of the FISD/501st Legion. The winner will be announced in this competition thread and their design promoted in the following newsletter. The winner will also receive two coins free and a patch if we can make that run happen. Not only this but the kudos for a fabulous design and become part of detachment history. Oh yeah, and some serious bragging rights! The finished products will have their own sales thread(s) once the designs are approved and ready to order. Here is our Font and color guide used for official merch, if you require logo files, they will need to be requested via PM to myself with what you need.

TK-36036 Requesting ANH (Stunt) Centurion Status [MTK] (498)
Sly11 replied to MrGrave's topic in Request Centurion Status
Very nice shots of your armour Grave, only some small areas that Glen pointed out could make you look the best you can. Good luck with your approval sir. -
Sorry to derail, but Wook your new Avitar looks sensational!

Here you are Chad now with 501st access, welcome to the expanded forums

I have also seen Velcro used as a strap from top to bottom running vertically over the top of the units for additional security/stability if you didn't want to glue angle brackets on the inside.

Coming along beautifully Dan, nice work.

Hi Alex and welcome to FISD. Glad you are making the steps to become a member of the best detachment in the legion, although I may be a little biased. One thing you will never fall short on is the amount of support you will get from this community, we live for troopers helping troopers. Good luck on your journey and i look forward to seeing your build thread.
