  1. Will be with you shortly Chris, sorry for the delay.
  2. Hi Michael Can we please have a photo of the other side of your Thermal det, showing the belt clips and screws, and a photo of both your fore arms side by side showing the return edge removed at the wrist ends. Thank you, we wont be too much longer.
  3. Hi JT. welcome and Thank you for your EI application. Lets get started. CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All submission photos have been posted. Your armor displays all the necessary elements to qualify for Expert Infantry. Welcome trooper! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: In this section we review observations made by your fellow troopers and ourselves. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor. If any suggestion affects any application, it will be listed separately in the above or below sections. We thank you for the changes you have made to the balance and look of your armour, and if you are prepared to pull the limbs apart and rejoin them using the required But joint for Centurion, there is no reason why this armour cant get you to level 3. Rather than put to much more info here, we shall move to the Centurion section so I can list the things that would require change and correction. Centurion Suggestions: In this area we try to prepare you for Centurion. Helmet: Currently you have a standard set of decals. These will need to be replaced with a set of Dave M type hat look hand painted, or you could go to the extent of literally hand painting the Traps, tears and tube stripes. Hand painted style Side Shims: The side shims need to sit flush with the surface of the kidney plate with only one visible seam, that being the join between it and the Ab plate As per CRL For level three certification (if applicable): Ideally there no gap between the abdomen and kidney armor.A single visible seam line is present. Three rivets, approximately 5/16"(8mm) diameter, are present on the left side of the abdomen armor.Note: The original rivets used for the TK armor were bifurcated rivets or split rivets. Rivets are equally spaced along the depth of the armor and about 10mm from the edge. The heads are rounded or domed.Note: Paperclip brads are not considered to have a domed head. Rivets are painted white. A single male snap on the top right corner of the ab plate is present. A single split rivet or brad is present on the lower tab of the abdomen armor.Rivet does not need to be functional. Reference image Side rivets Limbs: A you have mentioned in your thread, yes these need to be constructed using the But joint method and not the overlap method. Hopefully your armour is assembled with E6000, easily allowing you to seperate the halves, re-trim the haves for size and then joining them with cover strips. There are a ton of great build threads on FISD, showing exactly how this is done. Reference Image Butt joint, and remember, no return edge to be left at the wrist end of the fore arms. New Knee ammo Pack: Although you have re positioned your ammo pack, it has been trimmed incorectly, and could warrant a replacement. It should only have a curve at the bottom of either end and not the top corners. Reference Image E11: Expert Infantry is as far as a modified Hasbro/Disney blaster can go. This would need to be replaced with a more accurate resin or rubber cast version CRL: E-11 Blaster For level three certification (if applicable): Hasbro blasters are not allowed, even conversions.Photos missing. Back of your belt showing drop boxes with back housings. Photo of rivet in Cod part of Ab plate (not to be painted white) Photo of snap in upper right hand corner of Ab plate (not to be painted white) And last but not least, paint your thermal det screws black for that finishing touch. Congratulations on reaching Expert Infantry, and your armour is worth putting the effort in to make that Centurion badge. Even if you decide to go HWT, some of thses changes will still need to be made . Well done sir.
  4. Hi Doug, thank you for your EI application, lets get cracking!! CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All submission photos have been posted. Your armor displays all the necessary elements to qualify for level 2. Welcome to Expert Infantry trooper! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: In this section we review observations made by your fellow troopers and ourselves. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor. If any suggestion affects any application, it will be listed separately in the above or below sections. Well to be honest, I struggle to find anything out of place with your armour, so I need to be picky for this one. As a suggestion only, the trim around the chest, kidney/Butt plates is quite a different shade to the armour itself. I know that one of the guys from my garrison built an RotJ and found a matching paint, so he recoloured the trim so it no longer stood out. Beautifully assembled and a shinning example of how good RotJ armour can look, this is the stuff the fans want to see, truly impressive. Centurion Suggestions: Although we try to spot and mention everything we can see, the final centurion accuracy is up to the trooper. Nothing more to add other than, get your application for Centurion ready. Congratulations Doug, so well deserved .
  5. Hi Enrico, thank you for your application, lets take a look. CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All submission photos are present and your armour displays all the elements required for Expert Infantry, Congratulations, you made it Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: In this section we review observations made by your fellow troopers and ourselves. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor. If any suggestion affects any application, it will be listed separately in the above or below sections. I must thank you for your patience, and perseverance, making some adjustments to get your armour just right, you have certainly done a fantastic job, and from what we can see here, it was well worth it. We would like to point out the sides of the back plate. At first it looked as though you had quite an overlap of the back and kidney, but this proved not to be the case, howerver it does look like your back and chest plates don't really have a connection to the Ab or kidney plates. If those black tabs on the inside of the back plate are in fact for Velcro to attach it to the kidney, they would need to be moved further out and the straps tightened. Currently the back plate juts out a bit on both sides and could be aligned across the kidney plate a little more evenly. Reference Image Centurion Suggestions: In this area we do our best to prepare you for Centurion. As the photos for level 3 show us some finer detail we may pick up some thing that we cant see here. Although i think it might just be the lighting, it is hard to tell if the screws on your Thermal Det are painted black. We would like to see another photo in your Centurion application that shows clearly they are in fact black. Make sure you go through the Centurion photo checklist and have all the correct images posted. http://www.whitearmo...hoto-checklist/ Well, Congratulations yet again, head on out and get working on that Centurion application.
  6. Hi Ricky Yep we can see the images, but you will need to remove the decal off your shoulder bell, and post up a new front on photo, as it is not allowable in your application. You can most certainly put it back on to troop after approval.
  7. Ricky, are all these photos in 1 folder in your Photobucket? If so I can access your Photobucket account and place them in the thread. If they are all separate it might take some time to do this. Otherwise sign up to imgur, it's like Photobucket but without all the adds and BS. Create a folder and place them all in there, again I can try and access your account and post them in your thread. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. Just catching up on a few applications where we have requested changes, so will be with you shortly. Thank you for your patience. One question for you, do you intend to push for Centurions? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. Hi Ricky, thanks for your application, lets get started CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All submission photos are present and your armour displays all the elements required for Expert Infantry, nice Job Ricky Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: Great attention to detail here, thank you. There is only some tiny things I could suggest, It would be to shorten the elastic straps between the back and Kidney plate so the two sit right on top of each other and close the small gap you have. Also the top of your thigh cover strips could have the corners trimmed so they cant dig into you when negotiating stairs etc, Centurion Suggestions: In this area we do our best to prepare you for Centurion. Well the armour looks spot on, just make sure you supply all the required close up photos needed in the Centurion Photo check list. Some of your images here are quite small and when we enlarge then to have a closer look, they are not clear. Those extra photos show us the finer details needed to get you across the line for level 3, so we may pick up some things that were too difficult to see with these images. Not sure what photo share you are using but maybe try Imgur, no adds like photo bucket and free to use. Hope to see you in Centurion review soon
  10. Just on your blaster, can we please have a photo of the other side. All your images are of the magazine side. Thank you
  11. That looks much better, I will be reviewing your armour shortly, but thank you for taking all the suggestions from your fellow troopers on board
  12. Hi Ricky, thankyou for the new photo posted of the gap correction on the side, we might as well get as much sorted so your Centurion app will be a breeze, so could you post up a photo of the forearms with the return edge removed, then I dont need to mention it in your review.
  13. Hey Luis!!, welcome to your Expert Infantry review. Thanks for your application, lets do it. CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All submission photos are present and your armour displays all the elements required for Expert Infantry, Congratulations Luis on a beautiful set of armour. Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: We love it when we struggle to find fault with a build, and this is one of those builds. Outstanding Job sir. The only suggestion would be to drop the thighs, just a tiny bit so as to even out the gaps between the shins and the bottom of the thighs. Centurion Suggestions: In this area we do our best to prepare you for Centurion, and all I can say is, GET YOUR CENTURION APPLICATION IN!!!! Congratulations Trooper
  14. Looks perfect Randy, now those side shims will also need to be rectified. For centurion, they need to sit flush with the kidney plate and the seam filled with ABS paste, sanded and then polished. Or, you can keep working on losing the weight you mentioned in a previous post and do away with shims completely. Which ever you choose, we will be right here for you when your done.
  15. You can do it brother, we are here to help.
  16. Scary guy is 100% correct. You have created the perfect platform on which to mount the shim so it sits flush. ABS paste is easier than you may think to make and use, so the big thing here is to get hold of some thin ABS that is close in colour. You might consider contacting the armourers you purchased the kit from and asking if they have some of the same ABS. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. Glen is correct in the way the side shims need to be mounted. They should be flush with the kidney plate and not mounted behind it. That leaves a seam line that gets filled with ABS past, then sanded back and polished to make the kidney plate look like it is all the same piece. Another question if I may, have you shimmed both side Left and right of the kidney plate?
  18. Is the shim mounted behind the kidney plate?, sorry I can't tell from the image Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. LOL,I love these guys, they are all out to help you and its what FISD is all about. Troopers helping Troopers. I will have a quick look over this for you, but the rivets on the Knee pack and the positioning are a definite fix for Centurion. I will have a closer look at those side shims later tonight as i have to step out for a while but just thought I would let you know at least about the knee as per the level 3 CRL For level three certification (if applicable): Thigh ammo belt is attached to thigh with a solid head rivet or fastener in the upper corner and fastened to the lower thigh ridge. Standard pop rivets are not accurate. Correct possition Thought I would use Randy's photo from his Centurion review
  20. Hey Mike, thank you for your application, lets go through it! CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All submission photos are present and your armour displays all the elements required for Expert Infantry, Congratulations Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: In this section we review observations made by us and your fellow troopers. Suggestions made here are to improve the overall look of your armor. If these suggestions would effect an application they will be mentioned in the above or below sections. To be honest, there isn't much we can suggest with this build, good attention to detail, clean lines, just need some adjustments which are most probably dressing and photo issues, and perhaps a paint touch up on the helmet so we shall take a look at those. Your Sniper plate shin is out of alignment in a few of your photos, so looks like it might twist on you when walking. The easiest way to prevent this is to stick a couple of pieses of foam in either side at the front inside of the shin Helmet paint details First let me say, I respect anyone who hand paints there TK helmet, I took the easy way out and used the hand painted look decals, so good job doing it yourself. I do think however some of those black boarders could be cleaned up a little and thinned out using a toothpick dipped in turpentine, you can actually make those lines straighter and take some of the wobble out. You laterally dip the end of the toothpick in Turps, they lightly scratch away towards the painted area to clean off any runs or regularities you don't like. It is the technique I used to fix the paint details I had to do on the ears of my TK helmet, and the frown. Reference the ANH Helmet in the fore ground. Centurion Suggestions: In this area we do our best to prepare you for Centurion. We do our best to pinpoint as much as we can, but Centurion application photos give us more details, that may expose some things not visible here. Your drop box positioning is just off. These will need to be aligned with the ends of the plastis ammo belt as per the Level 3 CRL For level three certification (if applicable): Drop boxes are vertically aligned with the end of the ammo belt with minimal gap between belt and box. Reference image That's it Mike, you did it. Congratulations on reaching Expert infantry level. Make sure you include all required images as per the Centurion Photo check list, make your adjustments and corrections, Polish that armour lol !! and we shall see you in Centurion review soon .
  21. If you are using the decals, I always use an old modelling technique. If you have a spray bottle, mix a couple of drops of dish washing detergent to water in the spray bottle. Remove the backing of the sticker/decal and give it a light spray. Give the surface you are going to attach it to a light spray . When you go to position the decal it will slide around under light pressure allowing you to get it in the right position. Once satisfied with the position, press firmly at one end and slowly push along to squeeze the water detergent mix out from under it. If any liquid is left under the decal it won't stick to the surface. Let dry, then slowly remove the backing. Job done. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  22. Hey Chris, glad to see you asking a great question. The guys are definitely steering you in the right direction with the side shims. First off, its always best to post a photo of what you are talking about to give us all the best chance of answering your question as accurately as possibly, plus we all love to see photos of armour. Level 3 is about talking that next step towards a more screen accurate look, but also to have our troopers all look very similar in appearance regardles of size, shape height or gender. Yes idealy we would like to see no gap what so ever, so the introduction of the humble side shim was created. At EI the maximum gap allowed is approximately 12.5 mm per side, so this is where shims come in to close down any gap larger than this. You want your side shim to sit flush and extend from the Kidney plate, evenly on both sides (don't shim one side with a large shim or your kidney plate wont sit right). to make the side shim sit flush it is easiest to first glue a base piece behind or on the inside of the kidney plate to create a surface in which to glue the actual shim to. Same as what you do to make a but joint and cover strip on your limbs to hold the halves together, only the cover strip is internal. This leaves you with a seam line which is what you fill with ABS paste, sand and polish to conceal the seam line. This link is just one members side shim build, which has some good internal and external images of his process http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/30226-side-shims-on-abkidney-help/?hl=%2Bside+%2Bshims Hope this helps.
  23. Hi Ricky, we will be with you shortly. As Alay has mentioned above, I agree you should shorten those side straps up to bring the Ab and kidney plate together. 12.5mm is the maximum allowable gap for EI, but I think you are going to be aiming for Centurion with that build, so you might as well fix it now. Please add a new side photo when done. Cheers
  24. Hi Luis Can we please have a photo of the end of your blaster showing the D ring Thank you, and excellent armour my friend.
  25. Hi Christoph thank you for your EIB application, lets get started. CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All submission photos are present and your armor displays all the elements required for Expert Infantry, Congratulations Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: In this section we review observations made by us and your fellow troopers. Suggestions made here are to improve the overall look of your armor. If these suggestions would effect an application they will be mentioned in the above or below sections. Great Hero build Christoph, and we only have a few adjustments and minor suggestions for you to make. 1. Shoulder bells, if you can shorten those top straps so the top of the bells touch the plastic shoulder bridges, this will be perfect. 2. Drop the biceps down, and the fore arms down approximately 2 cm, and you will close up the gap between the wrist and hand plate, so that gap isn't as big. Centurion Suggestions: In this area we do our best to prepare you for Centurion. It is evident that you are shooting for Level 3, and you have a fabulous set of armour and build, so we think its worth pushing you a little harder on the screen accuracy side, with the snapsthat attach your holster to the belt. Snaps on belt. Although the CRL states snaps can be used, yours look unusually large on the belt itself. Chicago screws are smaller and of coarse are also a removable option for the holster the image below is not of a Hero but a stunt set up, but I think it gives you an idea of the size of the attachment and something that looks more inline with screen used look. reference image. Excellent build Christoph, you have something to be proud of with this armour, and we look forward to seeing your Centurion application in the very near future. Welcome to EIB
