  1. So Eric, is the correct title "cool redundant poster" then? Great find, btw ...
  2. And it becomes more difficult ... Not every vendor is able to supply a hero helmet, if you want to go that route. So far there are only two, as far as I know. So you should decide on an armor first and then see if they have a helmet with bubble lenses, six teeth and three bumps on the ear. The rest of the armor is the same. (Unless you specifically go for a Han Solo replica costume, then different handguards come into play ...)
  3. Yes Scott, since the sixth photo something was bothering me with the fit of the Torso. You found it. Also the breastplate is kind of shifted or askew ... But ... does this matter for EIB?
  4. Whoever painted that, has a keen eye! The E-11-7 is remarkably well done and he incorporated everything of the armor that could be seen. For the rest he substituted the TK armor. He only goofed with the gloves, as they are black with white applications on thumb and (at least) index finger. Really well done!
  5. Good god! Did Billhag draw a diagram for everything?
  6. To order a helmet first, build it and have some "Star Wars" in hands is completely okay. I think, that is how the majority of us started ... You get to know the material, the handling and you have something you can proudly display. It is not cheap, but at least not as high as the price tag for a whole suit. But to order different pieces of the whole suit one after the other doesn't make too much sense ... First of all, like Andrew already said, it'll be a lot more expensive in the end. Second, I imagine that as heavily frustrating. Say you have the helmet and the chest. Trim it, strap it, adjust it, display it. Wear it? Not really. Then you start saving money again. How long will it take until you can afford the next batch? One month, two months, half a year? And not every armor maker is able to deliver stante pede. Add the waiting time and you'll have a gap between the first parts of your armour and the next ones of ... what?... three quarters of a year? I bet you lost interest by that time, and you will end up with a helmet and a chest you cannot use for anything. Create a dedicated account with your bank and force yourself to save a fixed amount of money every month. When you have the funds, order in one go. Receiving the big brown box with all the goodies inside you need, is a feeling you can't really describe.
  7. Wow Juan, your photo looks like a fierce crossbreed between Stormtrooper and Predator. You should have trooped without any helmet at all! I envy your hair.
  8. Hi Michael! Welcome to the white zone! I hope you will have a pleasant trip and a lot of fun. Care to tell a bit more about you? There is an extra thread where new members can introduce themseves. I am not too much in the know about what is included in an AP kit, but it is a safe bet, that you have to buy a black undersuit, for instance. Additionally gloves with flexible handguards are normally not part of the big brown box delivery. Canvas belt and leather holster are also extras. White boots also need to be obtained separately. Mic tips, s-trims and lenses are sometimes parts that need to be bought, but that heavily depends on the maker of the armor. Troopermaster for instance, supplies all the correct things in one go ... If you want to take your plastic spaceman costume one step further, you can also incorporate an aker system, a wearable amplifier sysrem for boosting and altering your voice. Oh, and depending on where you live, you might want to consider helmet fans for defogging your lenses ...
  9. Wow, is that really 15 mm? 1 3/4 Inch is 15 mm, right? The coverstrips seem to be really wide ...
  10. Err, does anyone else see problems with the back coverstrips of the thighs? Also the coverstrips on the back of the biceps seem to be overlapped and not butt joined. It is a ANH application, isn't it?
  11. Never seen ... But looks interesting , like to know more .
  12. Simple: not approvable. There are better and cheaper ones out there.
  13. Can you post a photo? Of course you can use the double strip method: One strip on the inside and one on the outside. Although it is technically not necessary, a lot of troopers employ this method nevertheless. Perhaps this will help you gain back the necessary space to glue your strips. Oh, and btw, why didn't you post this question in your build thread? Too many threads sometimes make it hard to follow ...
  14. Aw, come on, it's plenty of time to celebration ... You could achieve it.
  15. The ear is okay, not perfect, but okay. If it bothers you, you can always go back and do a little more work on it. Go ahead with the rest of your build! :-) Did somebody tell you about the opening of the teeth? They should be more square, no rounded edges.
  16. The coverstrips on the arms are supposed to be 15 mm wide. On the front of thighs and shins they are 20 mm and on the back of the legs 25 mm. That means you gotta trim the raised edges to 7mm on both sides, so that you have an equal amount on both parts for the arms.
  17. First of all, because your new boots are white to begin with, the Chance of black showing through is minimal. (Sorry, couldn't resist ...) But seriously, with painted boots it's the first micrometer thickness of paint that goes first. The black underneath would take some time to be rubbed away to the raw leather. Same with your new white ones. What I did nevertheless, was to glue the soft half of a white velcro strip inside the shin around the ankle area. You could also use felt or thick Cloth. If your shin is directly hitting the leather, it will still be bruised, but the steady up and down of the shin while walking becomes a mere brushing without scratching the leather at all.
  18. I see. Yep, you are on the skinny side ... (I hope it is nothing serious ...) But in this case what about also widening the calves? It is just proportionwise slightly ... odd. You could tighten the thighs around your knees. They won't get any bigger, even if you gain weight. But hey, you have to feel comfortable!
  19. Your first ones weren't the correct boots anyway ... Looking good!
  20. Your thighs look rather big compared to your calves ... Do you have a lot of room inside of them? Oh, and you don't have to redo the belt. Just add the two snaps to the ab-plate and it will sit fine.
  21. Hi Chris, is there a particular reason why you place your coverstrips on your forearms the way you do? I mean, why do you leave a blank space between the beginning of the molded ridge and the strips? Normally it is supposed to be flush ...
  22. It looks like you could have just screwed the fixing ring off ... The ring has notches for a screwdriver and the case looks like it is threaded. But anyway, great find!
  23. Where should the return edge be?
  24. Vern is right, you have to "srcew" the helmet on and off. And you can trim the vocoder a bit more, or it will chafe your throat.
  25. Is cutting the cod common? I thought just the opposite ...
