  1. In my opinion, you need to have the bucket, as that is the part that screams "stormtrooper". Otherwise the armor could be mistaken as a kind of average"alternate" bat armor. Swap the stormy ears for Batmans' and you are good to go. For the cape, go to the bay and look for pleather, but the thin one, not the one used for furniture. There is a difference ...
  2. You are still not reachable via FB ...
  3. These are ladies boots, aren't they?
  4. Nah, they are still stormtroopers. Let's keep them in here and in our hearts. (I've never even understood the diversion between sandies and shinies ... Too familiar, in my view, to have separate detachments ...) Clones, on the other hand, have a completely different background, armor and mission ...
  5. Hi there! Obviously you already looked up some of the offers you find on the net and obviously you are not taken aback by the asking prices ... That is good! For less money you can get a suit from the vetted vendors here on the FISD that is far superior than anything else you'll find "out there" (and that includes Andrew Ainsworth!). You just have to add a single ingredient: handywork. Believe me, it isn't so bad. You used a scissor before? You know what I am talking about when I mention glue? Heard of clamps? Perfect, that's all you need. (and some time, obviously ...) Stroll by the "getting started" section and read the thread with the vetted vendors, contact them and dive right into it! You won't regret that step.
  6. Err, no ... Did you get an E-Mail, or is it posted in your private Facebook Setting? Edit: I can't reach your FB page anymore ... Also, you are not in my friendlist anymore. Looks like you have been swallowed by the ground.
  7. Found this on http://www.starwars7news.com/2014/12/more-evidence-about-the-force-awakens-practical-effects.html: "First comedian Phill Jupitus, star of TV shows including QI and Never Mind the Buzzcocks, said something very interesting while discussing his “love†for the Prequel Trilogy with BBC. (via Tom Damms): I met an effects bloke in Essex, he drinks in my local coffee shop. He said [the makers of the new film] bought every gas-bottled air gun in England when they arrived because they wanted the Stormtroopers’ guns to have a kick when they fired them. You don’t have to fake it; it looks real." Now, that does make things a bit more complicated for us ...
  8. Sorry , looks like a hoax to me ... Commissioned by Pinewood studios ? As far as I know, the NDAs are pretty tight, so it makes me wonder, that anybody comes out of the closet so soon ... Also, it doesn't even remotely looks close to the real thing. Where is the ribbing ?
  9. @Haui: Thought the same ... :-) At least good to know that there might be a german source ...
  10. Well, you know the picture where I did the comparison between E-11 and E-11-7 ... At least the proportions are still the same ...
  11. My humble guess is, that everything (even the barrel) was made specifically fot this blaster. With rapid prototyping it is much easier to make everything from scratch, than to go out and get hard to find parts. (Okay, maybe not hard-to-find, but still someone has to look out for them, find them and buy them.) What I would do as a prop designer, is to take a careful look at what has been there before and then build a 3D model. I would let myself be inspired by real world objects and then design my own. Star wars is about found objects in new contexts? Great, then I would make it look like that. Much bigger playground for new ideas and different solutions. When the model is okayed, break it down into parts and let it be printed ... Why look for a different folding stock (that is supposed to be the same, but has to look different), when you just can fabricate one? You don't even have to stick to established measurements with this route. I just realized, that this sounded like a rant ... It isn't. I am just excited beyond bounds (received the tracking number for my big brown box), be kind to me ...
  12. Oh wow, you are right. And with the help of a bit of imagination you can count them, too. Semm to be four on each side. And, ... when I let my imagination run wild, they almost look like a half elipses, at least rounded in the upper part.
  13. "And there is no armor on the trigger finger. It looks like an additional leather piece, as you can see some seams." Right, and someone else depicted the same on the thumb in another screenshot ...
  14. I have no knowledge about weapons or scopes whatsoever, but I did a visual search and found this one (I was looking for "pso-1 scope" on Google): http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7s7WVxqUnVg/UFvC8-eSj4I/AAAAAAAAAJ4/gGZHa7etEIs/s1600/psopartsdiagram.jpg and this: http://www.dragunov.net/optics/lps_trio_0014_600x.jpg It is too big, I know, but to me it looks like it could have been the inspiration for the scope on the E-11-7. There are some more varieties of Dragunov-Scopes. Perhaps one of them is the right one ...
  15. And if you are not gonna listen to the wise men above this post, then take a look at the "How to start"-thread. There you'll find a list of vetted sellers. All of them will gladly sell you a helmet ...
  16. Baaaaa-Bing! Insider? (Where is that popcorn-eating Smiley?)
  17. Yes, that is what I thought, too! All the helmets that have been fanmade so far got the lenses wrong, imho. They are much bigger than everybody thinks. In the last pic from DDays post, you can see, that they almost reach to the border between black and white close to the ear ... Insofar the first pic in DDays post got it wrong, too ... And I am (for my part) also convinced, that we are talking about two separate bubbles here and not one single piece ...
  18. On sunday evening I contacted the only german who is listed as"special effects artist/prop builder" in the credits and asked if he is able to share information about the armor or the blaster. He told me, that everybody involved had to sign a watertight NDA, that doesn't allow giving any information whatsoever ... So this is not the route to go ... If we are going to get any information, it obviously needs someone at the very top, who has a heart for the 501st ... Oh, and Chris, verrrry nice work on the graphics for the "holster"!

  20. Well, concerning the E-11-7, whoever designed it took a real close look at the original. Dimensions are spot on and most of the familiar featured are built in, in one way or the other ...
  21. Or you can do the "garden rake "trick , to keep the spirit of a scratch build : Find a garden center or home improvement shop and look for one of the big garden rakes (for raking leafs ) made of plastic (not metal). The "blades" of most of these rakes have a very similar shape like the t-tracks ...
  22. Yesssssss! To all of the above!
  23. I don't think it is a found item ... Also, they might not have any real function, but are just eyecandy.
  24. Hey Tino! I don't think it's gaffer tape. Looks more like two tiny buckles or brackets, not unlike the thingies they have on their legs, to suggest some kind of opening/closing mechanism ... Supports the notion of "armor", like in "medieval armor". The gloves are also interesting: seems like they have (at least the index finger) the fingers covered in White segments, too. Whoever designed and built this armor also adressed the return edge at the wrist and gave it a bit of three dimensionality. We also shouldn't take the architecture of the E-11-7 for granted. It might just be, that the footage was flipped to allow for a better visual flow in the Trailer. It's not that uncommon ... (although in this case the actor would be left handed ...) But I found some nice similarities between the E-11 and the E-11-7: and even the proportions seem to be similar for the most part:
  25. I have to correct what I said in the previous post: A big part of the armor could be vacuumformed ... ... even the helmet, although this would need some very clever engineering ...
