  1. Love that story!
  2. It's Legion policy that once a costume is approved, you may troop in it forever without having to upgrade at all, so long as you don't have a break in service. If you got 501st accepted in 2005 with an out of the box FX kit and never went inactive/reserve, you can still troop in it all you want and retain full membership. Michael, if you don't agree than you should be the LMO (Legion Membership Officer) and work to change a Legion policy that has been in effect for at least 10+ years..
  3. Calm down everyone - this is why we have L1/L2/L3. CRL's will start to change only once a year. Heck, in the past we'd only update them every 3 years or so. I'm highly confident that anyone with a current ANOVOS kit will meet L1 standards. Geez - how long did it take us to get rid of the FX helmet? 10 years at least. And, the FX suit is still 501st acceptable, btw.
  4. There are awesome perks - are you kidding me? 1. Being able to raise money for charity 2. Being able to raise money for charity in stormtrooper armor 3. Being able to raise money for charity in stormtrooper armor with friends 4. Being able to raise money for charity in stormtrooper armor with friends and making kids happy 5. Being able to raise money for charity in stormtrooper armor with friends and making kids happy and sharing your hobby with people with the same interest and having fun doing it and inspiring others to help others What more could you ask?
  5. I'll take photos and post online later this week.
  6. Yeah, you shouldn't use bondo at all on this thing. Else you'll get a lot of cracks. I forgot what TK4205 used on my suit, but it sure wasn't bondo.
  7. The problem with velcro is adjustment & load. I really dig the buckle as it makes is much faster to put the belt on/off. It just needs to be right sized. Heck, if you do it right then it should be very simple to remove the cod to us latrine, or remove the butt plate to sit down. Esp. as there is no strap between the cod & butt.
  8. What I overheard was that there were different attachments to the right thigh base. Thus you would affix one adapter for the E-11 and a different one for the pistol. Correct. I held one of the demo blasters made for C7 that was a replica from Disney (so they said). There is a tac light under the muzzle and a thumb switch on the left side, that is perfectly placed where your left thumb would go. Talking to ANOVOS one idea on a replica blaster was to have a working tac light in addition to correct red LED's on the counter, and - I'm speculating - even a blue (or red) LED for the barrel proper. Apparently the stock unfolds too just like the Sterlings do (though we never see that in the OT). Not sure if we'll ever see that in the movie though.
  9. True, but be wary of that belt buckle. It's too large for the pouches and we ended up having to slit the pouch. Best to get a smaller buckle on it if you want to make your life easy.
  10. Not yet, but I've only suited up a few times. I am OTOH *very* gentle with that part.
  11. Jeroen is not wrong.
  12. FWIW, I spoke with Brian Muir at C7 and he said that information was not correct about them being originally green. Anyway, I used to troop in HIPS armor (TE2) with RT shins, and just painted the shins to match. Currently I have ATA with RT shins. Yes, they don't match, but for the most part it's not noticeable.
  13. The goal is to have them done by end of July, at the latest.
  14. My understanding - and I could be wrong - is that most of the changes are in an effort to make the kit easier to assemble. There were 68 pieces on the Alpha 75 kits and they were very labor intensive to make, and assemble. I am not aware of any alterations to the details otherwise.
  15. That is my take as well...
  16. I'm not sure what you mean by grandfathered. I've seen nothing about the ANOVOS kit what would prevent it from getting 501st approved. I think our goal is to have the CRL ready for LMO approval this month.
  17. Nice! On the plus, not only the pride you made it yourself, but also you'll always be able to pick yours out in a crowd.
  18. Nice - RT is good stuff. It will be great to track your build as you get to 501st acceptance, esp. being your GML and all.
  19. Congrats to the Beta group - you guys are going to rock it, I bet
  20. Maybe update the last or first post with the tally?
  21. Well, it could be worse
  22. You would so rock this. I can't wait to see it come to life.
