OK, can you guys be clear? Are you saying it's a recast of Kevin B's, suit (3d scan?), the tweaked in CAD? I'm confused. Also, if you say the photos are different, please be more explicit.

Wow - came out nice
-
OK, so let's try this again. If you have specific evidence bring it, but no unfounded accusations or mud slinging. Otherwise we loose the hounds of mod, or something like that. Be good!

May 2016 As everyone knows, getting an FISD Achievement Medal is a rare thing. If it were easy to get, it's value would be diminished. So as noted in the first post, we reserve it for exceptional service to the 501st stormtrooper costuming community, aka FISD. One trooper in particular has stood out recently for repeated, meritorious services, namely building best of tutorials that have been used and followed by many, both those of the Empire and First Order persuasions. Congratulations are in order to Tony aka ukswrath, so has seflessly provided our members with detailed tutorials and exeplarly patience and politeness to all questions asked. Please join me in honoring him on this special achievement.

TK-10911 Reporting In
Daetrin replied to themaninthesuitcase's topic in Newly Approved Members - Sound Off!
Great story - thanks for sharing. ANOVOS can simply be AN? -
Sorry for late posting - job hassles. Actually Centurion is accuracy + troopability, it is not accuracy == prop replication. We are not the RPF trying to capture costume flubs, or how actors hacked apart the back of shins to move. This is why 501st standards only focus on what is seen by the viewer, not how they are put together.

Large crack on chin of FOTK helmet
Daetrin replied to BOOKOF's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I cut a support ticket to ANOVOS and they replaced my helmet. -
Will be great once it's done tho...

Nice! Well, I'm sure someone broke a part and someone just slapped something on for the scenes.

Do you guys custom mark your weapons?
Daetrin replied to Dekard's topic in General Weapons Discussion
I never have. I guess our troops are small enough where it hasn't been an issue. -
In a totally ego-driven post, I have a picture of me in my TD looking nearly identical to this guy At the Rose Parade

OK everyone, CALM DOWN. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and others don't have to be wrong for you to be right. I'm not a fan of ROTJ suits but some people are, and I can still appreciate the craft and artistry when someone does a really well done ROTJ TK. Not right for me, but I didn't create this place to be a den of snobs. I too would wish the suits looked more ANH in composition and confess that I'm disappointed that they are not the same. Then again, at least they got the helmet right and that is pretty much what 90% of the world will notice, e.g. they look like OT TKs. How many of you when you first saw ESB before the Internet even realized the TK's were different? Probably not a one, just like we knew the helmet was different in ROTJ but were too busy watching the bad acting to care. What is more disappointing to me is how the TK's look like hapless goofs. A whole squad with blasters getting their asses kicked by some dude with a stick? At least in TFA it took strafing runs of the best X-Wing pilots the Resistance had to take them down. I like that the movie looks "Star Wars", but I'm afraid the story line looks weak. I'll see it like everyone else, but from the trailer at least it does not look to be as good as TFA.

EIB and Centurion: What do these terms mean?
Daetrin replied to justjoseph63's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
Can you get replacement parts? This was always the saving grace of fan made kits. If you ever made a boo-boo, you just bought a replacement part. -
Installing Wyatts cloth Imperial gaskets to FOTK undersuit
Daetrin replied to ukswrath's topic in TFA Stormtrooper
Aha - so you did sew in place! I was thinking of having the same thing done though your method is far better than what I was thinking. Awesome tutorial! -
FOTK CRL Edit Proposition.
Daetrin replied to The5thHorseman's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Mrs. Wyatt's (she makes them, not him) are considered OK for base 501st approval, but will not be for Centurion. Honestly having worn both cloth & rubber I'm on the fence on EI, as the rubber gaskets are a real pain in the backside to put on/off. Unless I am missing something, the suit is perfectly fine for 501st acceptance. Are the French suits perfect? No, but neither are ANOVOS yet we allow them too. What we are discussing is construction and seam lines. Clones even though made from ABS all have to be painted to be seamless. Germain - the yoke after ABS paste in the photo looks pretty seamless at least on my laptop. Is there another angle? If it looks as good as I think it seems a non-issue. The biceps we see a seam in the movies, so I think that is fine. What it would really come down is to the ab & TD. The TD has no seams in the movie so is a tough sell, as it's pretty visible that there are on seams. Also, the TD is a huge PITA to make, and there are many efforts to simplify the design, which I think will also re-inforce the idea of seamless as better replicas come out. The ab is covered a lot by the chest/back, so for myself at least I think I'd be fine with base acceptance, but certainly not at EI/Centurion levels. My $.02... -

FOTK CRL Edit Proposition.
Daetrin replied to The5thHorseman's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
FWIW, there is no requirement that there ever has to be a detachment vote. Mike Harrison re-wrote the MEPD deployed criteria with no vote at all. We do our best to take advisory votes. Realize in the end, L1 is not the detachments call. Detachments can only advise; the final decision is up to the LMO. I think your countrymen have done a nice job bringing FOTK armor to life. I think we've all seen pix that the bicep is not seamless in the movie. As has been noted, clones have to go seamless on many parts, and it's just a fact of line of being a clone. The back/yoke I think I'd like to see more detailed shots of your suits. That is one piece there is no seam line clearly in the movie, same with the abdomen sides. It sounds like the real issue is not wanting to paint the suit, not the fact that is has to go seamless. I guess a good question is: does it detract? For instance we don't allow people to Velcro the front of OT TK thighs or shins do we? What if someone said they wanted to? Is that OK? What you'll need to convince people of is why do clones have to be seamless and the FO TK not, when it's clear on both suits there is no seam in these areas. Right now I'm OK with the bicep and TD, but on the fence about the ab & yoke. -
If someone wants to compile, this is a great sticky for either getting started or in the build area. In fact, if there are enough threads, we can even make a sub-forum dedicated to 3d printing and designs.
-
Correct. Mike has been a reliable vendor for TK parts and accessories for nearly a decade. I've never once in all that time ever heard of a quality or shipping issue. You can trust him for sure.
-
LOL - Yup, and while we used the official SW "stepping out" trooper for our logo art, it's me & my SE-14R on at least one coin, I think two. Why? Because TK4205 did the artwork and since we are in the same garrison, I made a convenient model.

Besides being a bad recast?

Those are French suits, or am I wrong there?
