Just in time for Christmas/Hannukah! These would make great stocking stuffers - you could make some bank doing a run.

Trooperbay vs. Hyperfirm? (Pre-Built Blasters)
Daetrin replied to TheBlooperTrooper's topic in ANH BlasTech E11
Many things at TrooperBay you could probably find on your own. He makes is super easy to order though and has fantastic customer service. -
For the price, I can't see a fan kit being this inexpensive or accurate, for a completed helmet. It's like the new MRCE

Personally I think this is most reasonable story-wise, but from a movie making perspective I'm guessing they did because they could, or it was cheaper to make, or because it offered more mobility. Certainly they are not as aesthetically beautiful as the ANH/ESB TK. Then again, the actors in ANH hacked at the legs so they could move around on stunts...

Try again and use an interior strip for reinforcement *could* work, but removing, sanding, and re-doing is probably ab better long term solution. FWIW, my suggestion is to always Velcro the interior side of the limbs until you have trooped a few times. Biceps are usually fine, but the forearms and thighs in particular are very easy to screw up. You can also use tape instead internally, but as a GML the forearms & thighs are the 2 areas most in need of adjustment that people only discover after everything is glued. Then the moaning begins. My $.02 - fitting you well during tests fittings does not work the same as actually going out and trooping a few times.

Correct. In the beginning EI/Centurion standards weren't even maintained in the CRL's they were entirely here on FISD, just like Deployed, Lancer, etc. standards were 100% self-contained and managed by the detachments. The problem with that is that it meant unless someone haunted the detachments, which most members don't, it was hard to communicate out to the GMLs what these optional standards were, and a lot of new members were upset that they could have built their costume to a higher standard had they known. So, the decision was made - and this is one of the better ones done by the LMO/Legion - to bake in the L2/L3 standards directly in the CRLs so that it was seamless, and everyone had the same information. I'll take Mathias' comment regarding that there is only one standard for membership - L1 - further. Even here on FISD, every TK is a full member regardless of L1/L2/L3 status. EI/Centurion programs, just like the MEPD deployed forebear and the others like it (Lancer, Dark Lord, Imperator, etc.) are only ever costume achievement recognition awards. The only tangible benefit for the recipients is to be eternally enshrined on the awardee list, access to the occasional merch piece, and the everlasting pride that they did more than the minimum standard.

Hi Reese - I think I can answer that question. First though - the IOC on their Krennic CRL is keeping the first post updated with the current proposal. I'm in training today, but if I have a break or this weekend I'll be doing the same here, or creating a clean top level post and this can be the discussion. As for inconsistencies, it varies from costume by costume. For instance here on the OT TK, for a while the FX helmet was approvable as-is, but the MRCE required the correct number of ear screws, updated lenses, and the seam to be filled with putty. You may ask, why was the MRCE having to have ear screws but the FX did not? Well, the LMO at the time - Darth BarbieDoll (yup, real screen name) wanted it that way. They were trying to up the accuracy bar, but didn't want to piss off the FX folks. It was what it was. We do our best here to make the standards maker agnostic, and when doing the CRLs we - mostly Terrell (SuperTrooper) and I went through great pains to ensure that we never mentioned a maker by name either. Reese - if you can make canonical HOWTO threads for anything RO related, you will certainly find yourself enshrined in the Hall of Build Thread Fame eternally.

Which is a *good* thing. We count on it!

Well, for the OT we started with OOTB FX for years and it was good enough to get the Legion going. Also, the Alpha 75 ANOVOS FOTK kits weren't as accurate as what is coming out now, but they are still 501st approvable. Anyone remember the Glover EP2 clone kits? Best you could get at the time, but not really acceptable any more. My $.02 is we'll start the CRL with what is readily achievable with what we have, and then put the high accuracy at EI/Centurion. Probably in a year or two if these costumes take off we'll revise. Or, this variation may never truly get custom armor made, so we'll see...

So are you saying it's the FOTK gloves but without the white panels attached? They don't look like my FOTK gloves in that regard when I compare to the screen caps. Can you show a side by side?

Question regarding optional and non-optional equipment
Daetrin replied to Tiderion's topic in FISD Centurion Requirements
Actually they are not allowed to wear one at all. We made that change in 2008 IIRC... -
You weren't paying attention

Wonder how long it will stay in Pathfinders instead of SpecOps Great to see it live. Now that we are behind, maybe we can crank out the RO TK?
-
Honestly, I wonder if the prop guys thought "Yeah, we could just use what's in ANH but where is the fun in that? Let's see the 501st try to replicate this!"

The gloves are different to. Take a look at the screen shots (first few posts), and also the Sideshow figure http://www.sideshowtoy.com/collectibles/star-wars-stormtrooper-jedha-patrol-hot-toys-902849/?scid=HOEFF00002&utm_source=bronto&utm_medium=email&utm_term=Image+-+Jedha+Trooper&utm_content=Image+-+Jedha+Trooper&utm_campaign=120516distributednews

Question regarding optional and non-optional equipment
Daetrin replied to Tiderion's topic in FISD Centurion Requirements
It's required because with one or two minor costume flubs, every TK has one in the OT. We can't make the blaster required since that's against 501st policy. The only exceptions are light saber hilts for SL's. FWIW, how you get your costume/EI/Centurion accepted and how you troop are different. You'll need it to get your TK approved, but you could always troop sans the holster for non-formal events if you want. -
This is awesome! We should have a parent/child photo contest too!

Can't wait to see more - thanks for this great contest
