  1. Merry Christmas!
  2. Stay on target everyone - it's Christmas after all.
  3. Alas I didn't have a camera at the time. I just unsnapped my thighs, rotated them a bit so they didn't dig in to my body. And yes, I've taken taxi rides in my TK too. The thighs truly - for me at least - are the hardest part.
  4. Not just me. When I was at the Rose Parade in 2007 with almost 200 other troopers, on the way to the main event everyone was standing on the bus. After the several mile walk, everyone was sitting. We also sat at the park tables consuming our 2 In & Out burgers they gave us. When you really need to, I can assure you, you can sit.
  5. If one person did it, it can be done. Even for the OT TK's, I hear all the time "You can't sit down", but I and dozens of others have done it time and time again. Heck, I used to be able to put my entire sandtrooper on including pauldron and pack unassisted in about 5 minutes. I'm not saying I'm as fast as an OT TK, still...I would agree with those who claim that is it possible to do unaided if built correctly, as the magnets are truly a life saver.
  6. I think honestly they don't know what the H they are talking about sometimes. "I'll take a TK, put on a pauldron, weather it, and hey it's a sandtrooper. Take *that* 501st. Hahahahahahaha". I bet they are laughing in their blue milk...
  7. FYI though that the FB group is not an official 501st group, so even though there are numerous 501st posting there, there is no guarantee that any advice will lead to 501st approval...
  8. Check your Legion boards It was, but the overwhelming evidence and opinion is that it should go to SpecOps or form it's own detachment. Personally I think it should go to SpecOps for now. Starting a detachment is far harder than most people realize.
  9. FYI there is already a major discussion on the Legion boards as to where the shoretrooper will go. Likely SpecOps or if they can get the numbers and wherewhithal, their own detachment. My $$ is on SpecOps for now. I doubt there will ever be enough troopers to really sustain a detachment, but I could be wrong.
  10. Yes, I was referring to the earlier post. So it seems he is CAP derived just like ATA. My question still remains, did he make any alterations or is it direct? I know ATA made some changes and still tweaks from time to time.
  11. Wow, great detail. This will be a hard costume to do right.
  12. First I've heard of RWA. So, it's a recast of CAPv1 or CAPv2? Is it a straight recast, or did he clean anything up? Anything else on the armor that we should know about, e.g. thickness, quality, differences between other TE derived armor?
  13. Pix would help.
  14. Brian has it right. Also, it's cost. Once they have one valid model, it's cheaper to re-use it. Ideally LFL would talk to us first before putting this stuff in video games, but alas not.
  15. I don't believe that is fully accurate. When you have four FX troopers together, they just see stormtroopers. But I can assure you that if you have 2 ATA (or AP, etc.) and an FX, everyone asks why the FX is so wrong.
  16. Check out the first post There is still time for feedback!
  17. If the IOC even wants it. There is no commonality to any existing IC, so I'm guessing BJ will be fine if it goes to IG
  18. It depends on the size of the run. 3D is still slow, lower res, and on large runs can be more expensive then injection molding. I'm sure they calculated out the cost somewhere and made the decision whether or not to have 3D be the master to make molds from vs. just printing them all. Honestly, I'm not sure what current pricing is, but I bet someone in the industry could let us know the inflection point on run size.
  19. Feedback added to first post. It almost looks like for the chest plate, the shoulder tab front is actually part of the mold, and the strap is separate. Someone can probably take an FX part, make a mold, then change the details to be RO. Not sure how hard it will be but the ab plate details may be able to be separate pieces put on a normal ab plate and not need a whole new ab plate. Heck - those details were added in ANH from the TD to the TK via extra parts, so it may be something someone can make a mold for easily. The more I look at the armor, the more it doesn't seem like it will take a huge amount of work to make accurate parts. But then, I'm not a maker. :_p
  20. My first bucket was an FX. It was the backbone of the Legion for some time, but wholly unacceptable today.
  21. I updated the first post to be the current "here is what we have now". From now on, please post what *changes* or *additions* only you'd like to see and we'll update the first post, rather than re-doing the entire CRL. Also, while this is a different build and for L2/L3 certainly it will need new kit, I am of the opinion that an existing ANH kit modified could serve as an L1. Heck, the sandtroopers used to allow TK sniper plates, ab plates, etc. originally before these things were standardized. L1 really should be L1 - the basics that you can get that make it look pretty good. Else what's the point of L2/L3?
  22. Well, only one way to find out. Tim - are you going to update the first post, or I can?
  23. I'm sure someone can who knows the shipping address.
  24. Hey boss - what's the total / how are we doing so far?
  25. It's all preference. Even if you don't let kids hold it, at some point it will fall on the ground. It's why I stayed with HF all these years.
