  1. Actually that's not been my experience. I have owned three TE2 and one AP, plus tried on another TE2 and an RT. The "largest" and "smallest" have both been TE2. I think it really as to do with: 1) How loose/tight the pull is 2) How it's assembled 3) How the bottom is trimmed
  2. AP * ABS * Smooth cap and back TE2 * HIPS * Bumpy cap and back
  3. Unless someone beats me to it I'll take measurements of mine when I get home today & post.
  4. I would say no. I know right now the Elite specs don't specify a material, but we're trying to tighten up to say that it should match the material of the rest of the suit. We realize this isn't always possible and so right now it's not really enforced. I'd just use any kind of plastic and paint it as close as you can get. Some people use cheap plastic signs they find at the hardware store (e.g. the back part). I have to say I believe this is the really the only hard part about going Elite. I'm sure others who've done this can chime in.
  5. I think you just need to cut the straps and mount it from behind is all. Two rivets for stunt & four for Hero. Otherwise I'm not sure why it wouldn't work.
  6. I had to pad the inside of my butt as well to get it to line up decently. Still not 100% happy, but it doesn't look that bad anymore. I also had to put a small pad on the bottom of my back plate as well. The build is coming along very well - I believe your Elite & 501st pix could be the same.
  7. I believe the best buckets are TE2 or AP, hands down (I don't include GINO as his are way to expensive to troop in). Even if I were to do a Black Hole, I'd use these and just paint it rather than using FX, which is what almost all TX are.
  8. Not much to add except to say I'm sorry for the situation
  9. I had the same problems - more so on the TE2 than I did on my FX. In the end I replaced them with RTs. Between the three they're almost the same length but the sculpt is different. There is a guy bigger than me who got my TE2 shins and they fit him better than his FX. Go figure :-p Short term unless you can change the shape with a heat gun you may want to borrow some RT & FX for 10 minutes or so and see how they differ. Long term I keep praying someone will take an existing shin, cut it, add 1.5" or so, and make a new mold for us taller folks.
  10. Sweet - I'll try yours when you get it ;-)
  11. Congrats! Yeah, toss most of what you learned on the FX out the window. That said, once you have this bad boy put together you will look smart indeed! :D
  12. Looking good! May want to trim that chest a bit. The thighs are nicely done.
  13. I was thinking the same thing - HOT! The more stuff in the bucket, the less room for air.
  14. Wow - that looks much easier than a dremel!
  15. Will be interesting if you can make the legs work & look correct w/o gluing them.
  16. Rose Parade. Oh, and playing football in full armor against the biker scouts.
  17. I mean, what seems to make sense to one doesn't always seem to make sense for another. What you consider simple I may consider confusing, and vice versa. So if I keep asking for specifics that's why.
  18. I am taking you seriously. But I think something is lost in translation, which is why I'm asking for specifics.
  19. There is a certain minimum monitor/resolution size below which we really don’t care about supporting. For instance we’re not going to change the UI to support an 800x600 resolution on an 11” screen. Just like we really don’t care much about browser support for the guy running Opera on Linux, or the guy running FFv1 or IE6. Guys – if this is happening with a specific window size on a specific resolution on a specific browser, lmk else I’m not sure really what I’m repro-ing. You’re incorrect about Elite. You can get Elite with any 501st approved costume with the exception of the FX helmet. The reason we broke out AP/TE2 in to its own build thread it because those suits unlike fan sculpts are much harder to put together especially on the legs/arms, and thus require different methods and tips. The reason we don’t have icons for ranks are: 1) In the films there was no rhyme or reason as to what rank badge was what. Most of the structure was created by fans later to try to fill in the blanks and inconsistencies. So having them here only seems to be preferable to those that like a lot of EU backstory. 2) They add visual clutter to an already tight and busy section of the board. 3) They encourage “me too” posts as Terrell indicated. We should probably just get rid of them or cap them out at 100 posts or so. I mean, does it really matter that someone has 1000 vs. 2000 posts? I’d rather people not post then put in posts that don’t add value to the conversation. For the emoticons we do try to keep some consistency between and our sister forums like BSN/MEPD/CTN as people usually are members of several and it makes it easier if things look the same in most regards. We could update the bbcode, but I’m not sure how many use it rather than clicking. Let me think on this. I do re-arrange the forums on a regular basis – if you look at how it started it was far simpler. The categories are there to make it easier to browse to information. For instance blasters were originally part of accessories, but we had so many blaster/bfg questions/threads we moved that to a separate forum. So yeah, it’s grown.  I can understand that it can be confusing to see the big picture when someone is new. Again if you have specific suggestions those are usually the best.
  20. No personal attacks guys. I've already moved posts - let's not make me start suspending accounts.
