  1. If you got something against me you better bring your facts brother. I know exactly what I bought, when I bought it, and where these things ended up. I have facts and copies of emails. What do you have? As for the Matt/CAP agreement, there is more than just words. Alas both people have questionable characters at times. Want to count how many times Matt has deceived people? So bring it on if you will, but you best have your evidence 100% solid.
  2. I took no pleasure in this. Dave was the first hat trick Elite and always a good chap on these boards. However he knows the rules; what's allowed and what's not. He broke them not out of ignorance, but with full knowledge of what he was doing. Worse, he tried to deny what he was doing, and only when he was called out did he confess. Lastly - and this is a sore point with me as well - he sold his costumes and went inactive, but never once dropped me a line about it to adjust his membership. I had to ping both his GCO and Legion staff to confirm. The truth comes out eventually - people shouldn't act surprised when it does.
  3. I have decided to ban him for openly recasting the work of a 501st member. TE2 paid money in a very open transaction for a particular set of molds and Dave recasted it without permission. That's all there is to it. If Dave were a 501st member the most I can do is complain to his GCO, but Dave is not a 501st member and falls out of the protection of the charter. Thus I can do as I deem fit, and given that the 501st does not condone recasting, then I don't condone his behavior and feel I can ban him or suspend him as I see fit's the crime. Given that he had other opportunities to recast other work (e.g. CAP) but did not, and that he did not apologize or destroy his molds, then I feel this is pretty blatant. Attached is him admitting his deed. People can make excuses all they want and try to dance around the issue, but this is something I cannot ignore and even the DIY community was none to pleased by his actions. If he ever destroys his molds and wants to rejoin the group then I'll be happy to welcome him back.
  4. Has anyone used this - www.yoostar.com ?? How did it turn out?
  5. Yup. here is what I got: Dowco Helmet Bag DOW-59001-00 Just to a Bing (or Google if you hate MSFT) and find the cheapest place that has them. They're usually $10-$15 each. Any local embroidery or sewing shop can do the rest.
  6. FWIW - the helmets are all TE2, finished by Mike A. (though I weathered my TD myself).
  7. Can you have enough helmet bags? I find these for like $12 or so online, then get a seamstress to do the patches, etc. Yes, there is one empty bag as I used to have a TC helmet. This fourth bag will be for an ANH stunt, and yes there is some embroidery needed for the one bag. Here are the tres amigos They are awaiting their fourth brother. Perhaps there will be a fifth some day - can you ever have enough buckets?
  8. Hey Jonathan - just remember that it may be due to ignorance, and one shouldn't make fun of that. I remember when I got my armor and thought out of the box FX was pretty cool and that's what several in my Legion were sporting. I felt bad when I saw how good armor could be and kinda was a little miffed at folks in my garrison for not telling me about my options. That's part of why I created FISD - so people at least know what their choice are - not to make them feel bad. A 501st TK is a 501st TK and still has a home here, after all. And - some of those folks may just not care, so why make them enemies of the Legion? For those that do - a FISD trading card with our address and just letting them know there are options in case they want to progress should be fair enough, and you can get a high from helping someone rather than via schadenfreude. My $.02. Wish I could make it to SDCC - now would be a great time in my life to enjoy a party of fellow stormtroopers, and meeting a bunch of people I've so far mostly known online. Enjoy your time bro!
  9. I can guarantee you that if you need to sit, you will find a way to sit. I've sat pretty easily in ABS armor w/o any issue. Then again, I had an ABS close butt plate crack on me though the mold is different. I think my worry would not be cracking (you could always reinforce the area with aluminum tap pretty easily, it would be the gouges. Being softer than ABS it may take on more scrapes if you're sitting on something like a concrete bench or stone steps. Since it's hips though - a little bondo and a little paint and you'd be back in business at least
  10. This is just how many ANH armor kits come, so it's not a matter of choice it's what you get. Now if you take an FX and decide to put a thumbprint in in, this is entirely up to the individual. At that point you're heading down the road of prop recreation, which is a different flavor of costuming. This is what's so fun of the hobby and our club - there is a base standard that you need to hit, but how far you go beyond that is entirely up to you. Look at Boba - some guys do an good job. Others like my garrison-mate Luke strive to recreate every scratch and scrape exactly. I can't imagine how many hours those guys put in to detailing their armor - certainly far more than most costume types and certainly more than most TK's. * * Unless you're name is Paul and you're from the UK
  11. Agreed - a good start. Keep us posted of the progress and remember to watch for the details.
  12. Yes, and you must also have an already approved 501st TK in your Legion record.
  13. I'll "roger that" on John - he really is a class act fellow and very easy to work with.
  14. If you're bigger you can also try RT. Prices though for both RT & FX have been increasing lately, so the cost advantages are being eroded. Holy smokes is RT expensive these days.
  15. I just sent Greg 1/2 the $$ so far so he can get boots locally as they are in plentiful supply in Oz. Under armor is needed. I think he has a hasbro + resin kit, so that may be fine. Almost there...
  16. She is still on my hard drive, but I wanted to have a pix of the ESB details And thank to Dmian for doing the background for me. Yay Dmian
  17. First post updated!
  18. Agreed. OK, this thread is about a helmet review, not recasting. If I see one more post that's not relevant to the review of this item, I'm suspending accounts and deleting posts. Get back on target gents!
  19. Sorry I didn't get this up yesterday, but it was FISD's third birthday. Yes, on July 6, 2006 is when I took the forum live and started adding members. I remember at the time wondering if I'd get 10 people to sign the detachment application. With over 200 detachment members and thousands of forum members, it's hard to believe that this bird's future was in doubt. As always, I life a glass to some really special people: Dean Plantamura : spiritual godfather of this detachment and who's site was an inspiration for getting it started Rome Ohnui : the COG at the time, who gave me a lot of encouragement and help through the application process Greg Mortensen : webmaster extraordinaire who did a lot of UI work and helped me figure out how to to the mechanics of running a forum My first year staff : Ed, Wyatt, Carlos especially for being the first ones to really drive this forum, and continue to support it to this day. There are many others who have stepped up through the years and if I tried to list them all I'm afraid I'd omit someone. You guys have all been outstanding, and inspire me every day to help out troopers in this hobby ours. A toast you, FISD! Here is to many more years of troopers helping troopers.
  20. Stay on target, gents.
  21. I have never heard a vox better than RomFx. Period. Can't say I've heard them all, but I've heard a lot and nothing comes close.
  22. LOL - this will be one nice looking suit when done This is one of the few places where a man can proudly stand in black spandex and not be considered silly.
  23. First off - you did an really good job on the FX build for your kit. Even w/o paint it would be nice - fits you well and it's obvious you put a lot of attention to the details. With paint - even better. If you decide to go EIB there are a few teaks to do (and the helmet), but this can be done anytime in the future. For now enjoy the costume - it's a good achievement. And...............welcome to the 501st & FISD. * * I also updated your membership here
  24. I've seen it on some troopers from time to time and even had it on myself on my old TD occasionally. I think the use of foam may be the best bet, as Terrell alludes.
