TK2165 requsting expert infantry status.[68][TM]
Daetrin replied to stukatrooper's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
FYI status updated. Welcome Peter to Expert Infantryman -
You think you have trouble trooping? Try being busy as a doctor and being the only one in your entire country with stormtrooper armor. Joey (TK-2126_MD) has single-handedly brought the 501st to Bolivia, even achieving Expert Infantryman status early in the game. He continues to inspire with his dedication and remains active here too. Way to go Joey!!! I'll toss one back in your honor

Draft CRL for the TK Commander - 501st base stds
Daetrin replied to Daetrin's topic in Stormtrooper Commander
The render is a nice model, but I'll take the screen caps over them any day. I agree that I like the kidney painted better, but you can't see it on multiple screen caps. There are few variations of the model as noted: sideshow, screen caps, etc. Perhaps we should just create a base and then allow variation, e.g. saying that the kidney plate is acceptable painted or unpainted. The thigh stripes really seem to show up everywhere but the LFL render, so perhaps they should be required in all variants. -

It's more than good. Billy - you know what to do...let me know if you need help tough. I'll burn some nerf on the barbie and have some ale waiting. Will be a good time -
Actually this is debatable. I'm in favor of creating at least a list of who the armors are as we pretty much regurgitate this info anyway for new people every time it's asked. Other dets have similar lists. It's under discussion in the staff area - I seem to be the only one who thinks it's fine.

This is just sick and a piece of crap. Send it my way and I'll ensure it's properly handled. Peter - this is one of the best suits I've ever seen and is at Mike Harrison levels. Outstanding, simply outstanding in every way. My armor is weeping with jealousy. -

I'll disagree on "no stripes". He's considered a prop department flub in my area at least, and not a valid variant. -
Would TE2 armour fit me? Opinions needed!
Daetrin replied to padde's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
As I alluded in my email it's all a matter of personal taste. As you can see TE has been made to fit CMANavy who's bigger than you, and there are very small guys who've made FX work for them. At 6'0" / 180lbs, I feel that TE2 still fits me just fine. There is a little more gap between the thighs & shins than there would be otherwise, but so far the only ones I found that are longer are the old GF FX ones, which are almost impossible to find anymore. Haven't tried RT thighs yet, so I can't honestly say if they'd offer much advantage. -
I guess it depends on what you mean fully functional. For my AP helmet all I added was mesh for the frown and new aerators as the ones that came with the kit were not accurate. Oh, and painting it. Otherwise I left my interior sparse. Common adds are more padding than comes with the kit, voice/amplifier, fans, battery packs, etc. But these are all left to the individual.

There was a question brought up as to what happens when someone sells their EIB costume or leaves the legion. To ensure there is no confusion, here is the policy: 1. If a person leaves the Legion a. Their forum membership is reduced to "Member" b. Their custom title is removed. c. Their picture on the EIB page will be watermarked with "Inactive" 2. If a person sells their EIB costume a. If they no longer have their TK designation, their membership is reduced to "501st Member" b. Their custom title is removed. c. Their picture on the EIB page will be watermarked with "Inactive" In any event, they will need to re-apply for EIB status should they get a new costume. Questions? Please ask if you have any.

For transparency: This is a recast of TE2. This is surprising as he could have recast CAP instead for less. CAP has openly stated that he didn't care if people recasted him.

Draft CRL for the TK Commander - EIB stds
Daetrin replied to Daetrin's topic in Stormtrooper Commander
Hey Marcel - this is what we're trying to iron out. Right now there is no CRL, and there is no EIB standard. The goal is to get consensus on what the CRL for 501st base standards would be and for the EIB. CRL for 501st needs final sign-off by Thomas Spanos at least. EIB is 100% up to us. -
Draft CRL for the TK Commander - EIB stds
Daetrin replied to Daetrin's topic in Stormtrooper Commander
I'm not sure why this wouldn't be the case. The render I saw shows a stunt helmet, at least that's how it looked to me. -
Roger that! Great to see that both men are able to work this out. The absence of baiting and foul language is quite refreshing. My thanks to Keith and Andy for keeping the discussion civil.

This is *just* for the EIB standards, which are annotated in the CRL as "SHOULD HAVE" items. This is a continuation of the thread here: -------- 1) Comply with all TK ANH Hero CRL requiments --------- MUST HAVE 2) Paint * Helmet, armor, and shoes must include all rank stripe details in Duplicolor Royal Blue that exactly match the videogame and action figure references (see visual references below). MAY HAVE 3) Armor can be battle-weathered (minor scuffs) 4) In lieu of using ANH base armor, troopers may opt to use ROTJ armor. If this option is chosen, the armor must comply to ROTJ CRL Requirements with the following exceptions * ANH Stunt Helmet must be maintained. * Hand plates must be ANH trapezoid instead of snowtrooper. * Holster must be worn in the ANH style.

How to Join the 501st Imperial Legion?
Daetrin replied to TK-Recruit's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
we're working on it... -
I think you'll be fine but you may have to shim the legs. I'm 6'0 185lbs myself and fit in to TE2 with no problem. In fact, I have to trim a little from the sides. Pretty much any armor can be made to fit any body if you're willing to trim/shim. Some fit people more easily than others is all.

We'll have to downgrade your membership to 501st member and remove EIB from your title. You'll not see the detachment only area, but should still see all the 501st only bits like you're used to. If you're 501st status is truly removed from the Legion we'll have to bump you down to Member until you get re-activated. That's about all - you're still part of the community! Billy - lmk if you have any questions on how to do this adjustment.

Draft CRL for the TK Commander - 501st base stds
Daetrin replied to Daetrin's topic in Stormtrooper Commander
That's a good point. Right now this is what is presented in the DL forum, so it's great seeing more info. I'm learning something new every post! -
I don't think it would be EIB, but my guess - made w/o seeing it in a helmet - is that it would probably be OK for 501st. Heck, the aerators that come with the AP kit are less accurate and they are 501st acceptable.

Any armor will fit you actually. The ANH armors will fit you best. Don't buy from Ebay. Everything you want to know is on this forum for the most part. It's definitely worth the time to do some research up front - even if we had a cheat sheet you'd still want to do your due diligence and read through the forums some as there will be many questions answered that way. Your best first step is also to contact your local garrison. In the end it's they whom you'll be trooping with, and who will approve your application.
