  1. Actually $500 is not realistic unless you get a used suit. By the time you add it up most people spend around $1000. You can save some if you already have tools and can make some items yourself. A cheap hobby, this is not, but it's still cheaper than golf.
  2. Here is the render: ------------
  3. This is part of what we're trying to decide. I think we need to distinguish between what is a base 501st acceptable costume vs. EIB. 501st standards : "Must have" EIB standards : "Should have" I'd like to think that any 501st approved TK who then added proper paint would be 501st acceptable for this costume. If people want to get picky about hero vs. stunt, to me this is part of the "should have" / EIB conversation, and in that case I'd recommend the ANH stunt, as that is what I see on the render.
  4. Where is he getting his information from? The most authoritarian we have is the render that was provided from LFL from the game.
  5. FYI I have the holster in my possession. I'll be shipping it and the items I'm donating out this week - anyone else want me to put something in the box before it heads off to Australia?
  6. You can also just post the link - it's not like it's secret info
  7. Andy - thanks for the detailed explanation. Your reputation for integrity, quality, and accuracy are unsullied, and it's good that these remain intact. For those that don't know - EVO3 has been in this biz a long time and is pretty active on the clone boards too.
  8. As Jonathan states, for 501st entry any 501st approved TK plus paint should work for now.
  9. Considering that there is no truly published CRL I'm not sure what Thomas is using. It's FISD's task to make a recommendation, and the #1 reason for all these threads. What do we think?
  10. Like many Dad's, today is nothing special. Still mowing the grass, cleaning the house, watching the kids, etc. But you can make today special for your Dad by *calling him*. Yes, Mom's are great and all but without him you still wouldn't be here. So...even if today you do nothing you wouldn't be doing anyway, at least give the old man a jingle.
  11. Can that be verified? EVO3 has a pretty solid anti-recasting stance of his own and has well-documented self-made props.
  12. OK, this makes sense. It's clear from the render of the Commander that it's an ROTJ suit with ANH helmet and hand plates, so you're right the CRL should be the same for the base armor.
  13. Sweet - can't wait to see it Walter!
  14. I used slightly stretchy white fabric - not as accurate as what Mark did (his is definitely the shizz). I actually used E6000 on the fronts and velcro on the back, as I have to undo one side to get my head in. Mark's solution of having poppers is better again, I think, as it allows for easy on/off and a pre-defined attachment point. What I dislike about velcro is that you have to have a mark on where to put it back, else you may re-attach it just a bit off every time. For the plastic tabs I still like the look of gluing them in the front. Rivets aren't EIB OK, and velcro you can always see that the elevation, and people I've seen do it with magnets...they always float around a bit. Did I mention Mark's is the shiz?
  15. I'm sick that you look far better than I do. Well done mate!! Congrats - you are one fantastic looking trooper. If Billy doesn't update your profile this weekend, I will. I think you'll enjoy the detachment bar and grill...
  16. Saturday is trying to put a new computer together from scratch (which I haven't done in years), and taking the wife out on date night. Sunday...not sure...
  17. Actually I think it can be separate as I don't see the door trim tells on the suit. It's pretty much ANH/ESB, aside from the ab plate and the belt/TD is ROTJ narrow, and the back plate seems one piece.
  18. Excellent screen caps and your take on the CRL is much better than my first draft! I think allowing ANH Stunt as a MAY HAVE should be fine as it's a minor detail and most troopers use a stunt helmet as a base. For an EIB standard we can get more picky, but I think the base should allow either. Also under SHOULD HAVE, the ab plate button should be inverted. Well done!
  19. Remember that you just need to do one troop a year to stay active. Perhaps you can content yourself with that for a bit and not depart completely.
  20. What I can say is that whatever your situation, we're here to help and will do our best to get you sorted with whatever you end up with. The Rubies takes a lot of work to get to 501st approval, but it can be done.
  21. Keep 'em coming guys - these are great ideas!
  22. Jonathan - you've contributed mightily to this costume's definition. Can we say that an E-11 is a MUST HAVE and a light saber in lieu of an E-11 is a MAY HAVE?
