  1. Would be great to have a photo of you in armor to see for sure. I'm 6'0" and would never consider trimming. The 'model' was 5'10" or so. Remember there shouldn't be a lot of black. Any gain in comfort will certainly be a trade-off in appearance. I've never heard of anyone 6'+ trimming the backs of the legs. Heck it's the opposite - I want longer pieces!
  2. I think Mark even has picture of a 6 tooth version laying around - do you have those again?
  3. This is also why any time any one expresses interest in the 501st via the 501st, whether it be via their GML or this detachment, we do try to help people. As a GML I always pointed people to the relevant detachment for help in my initial reply, and why for all new people here we encourage them to contact their local garrison or outpost. This way people get information before making a purchase. For myself I bought armor before I heard of the 501st - so I do empathize with people did this too. Heck, one of the main reasons I founded this detachment was to help prospective members avoid the mistakes I made.
  4. Yup, that's pretty much why. This is a 501st forum for 501st members and prospective members primarily. We're lucky to have people like TrooperMaster, Pablo, etc. for the reason below: So two audiences: 501st is the primary, people with a love of strormtroopers as the secondary. We really have no interest in being a place or a resource for people who's sole purpose coming here is to buy armor. Nor are we a general prop making/buying board like the RPF. We are a distinct club (501st) and community (FISD), and we as staff have a responsibility to protect that club and community. This is why we have a recasting policy, and open recasting is strictly not condoned (per 501st charter).
  5. How he does that and juggles work & family is amazing - hat's off to him!
  6. That's crazy when you can get a fan made for the same price or less. They used to be $100 or so.
  7. Doh! Saw this while in a meeting and got a lot of dirty looks. Warn a trooper next time (j/k - it was worth it!). Love this
  8. Who is he and are these original sculpts?
  9. I'm sure he's done - it's just a matter of creating a post (got to be consistent & transparent, after all).
  10. For EPIII helmets you need to talk to Java or Kevin/OSCS. For EPII it used to be Java or C6 - I'm not up on who's a good maker now (bet some guys here know). The best clone helmets are fan sculpts made in the USA. Anything made overseas is for sure a recast of someone's very hard work (no TE is or is not recast argument in clone land, it's *all* fan sculpt) and a big no-no.
  11. Troops! Attennnn...shun! Present...arms! Order...arms! What a proud day. It gives me immense pleasure to have you as one of our own. Well done Pablo Now...when is that EIB application coming? ;-)
  12. I almost spit out my drink - pretty funny.
  13. Got it. I think you did an amazing job with paint. It looks hot to me.
  14. The only thing that would make it better is if you had a rack of them at home like was in the gantry scene, and you can then lend them out as needed to troopers...
  15. My only thought is that the frown is a bit over painted compared to screen caps. This won't prevent EIB, but will enhance the look of your suit. Same with the ear screws, and it would be nice to get a call on if those are bubbled lenses. Overall it looks great - a few helmet tweaks and I call it good. Oh - and heed Mark's advice - again won't affect EIB but will improve the look of the suit. Great job
  16. On the early pix are those bumps on the face part of the mold or just paint bumps? I don't see them as much on the later pix?
  17. Last warning - no personal attacks / snarkiness.
  18. No personal attacks guys - consider this a warning before posts are deleted and people are suspended. The topic may be controversial, but that's no excuse to personal attacks.
  19. That's cache. And you can tweak your browser not to do this so aggressively.
  20. LOL! There are times when it's OK - e.g. when people sell their private suit and disclose what they're selling, but yeah usually you can find better and less expensive by doing some research and buying direct.
  21. Not too bad - I say leave it alone. Adds character
  22. they are just for fun and go up with post count. It doesn't mean much - one quality is posts is more important than 50 "me too" type comments.
  23. updated! congrats again - great to see more EIB in Germany
  24. Doh! How did I miss this? Where is that Membership Officer to backfill me when I'm out ;-)
  25. Well troops, we're a bit over 1/2 way through this election year and it would be great to hear from you all (staff included) on what we're doing well, and some ways we can improve either the forum or what we're doing as a leadership team. I think we've had some great successes this year but some things just haven't panned out like we thought they would. So if there are things going well please let us know so we can keep doing them. Things we did wrong - that's great to know so we can change what we're doing. Have a great idea? We're always looking for them, and often times the best ones come from you, our members. Best, Paul -- Troopers helping troopers --
