  1. Ok, have thought on this some and we did a side conversation in the staff area. The conclusion is this: While you hit every requirement to the letter of the standard, Locitus correctly points out that there is the spirit of the standard to consider as well. Centurion is meant to be awarded to the best looking and accurate suits. Part of having a good looking suit is that it be fitted to the wearer - this is actually a base 501st requirement and is as true for TK's as it is for officers. We're going to hold the line on the chest/back. The chest can and should be trimmed and there are good examples on the boards of how to do this with an FX or AM chest. I've even seen one person able to do it freehand, but he's has exception eye/hand coordination, and I think the tutorial is a better guide for us mortals Or, you can do what other AM Centurions do and replace the chest/back with RT. It also looks you should take a bit more off the back or kidney plate, or mount the backplate higher by moving the ribbed straps down on your chest some. We should see the back-kidney gap that's supposed to be there (also noted in the standard). One other note that came up: it's hard to tell for sure but it looks like you didn't correct for the mismatched shins that is a known problem with the AM kit. Again, details not metioned specifically in the notes, it is something that other AM Centurions have to correct for. I konw it sounds like a lot of work when you've done so much already, but it's really not all that much. I ask that you don't give up! Heck, I had more things to correct on my ESB EI submission I think
  2. Sorry - just want to ensure I do a good job on this. Can I get a close-up of the helmet from the side? Just want to ensure the details are there. The shoulder straps need to be secured in the back, and also a shot to show no return edge on the forearms. Otherwise, I think you're good to go!
  3. Got it now. I thought there are only two mainline AM sellers: MightyTank and Deckerd (aka tupperwaretk), unless you are getting it direct or my info is out of date (which is could very well be). *That* conversation can be done in the 501st only area. Back to our original programming everyone...
  4. Great question Mathias. Aside from that though, I think you got it all covered. I only took a quick look at this on my laptop - anyone care to cross -check?
  5. Hi Laurent, Thankfully I was able to see all the details in the pix (good resolution!) but man are my eyes tired now :-p I couldn't find anything amiss with the suit and it looks great to me. EI approved - congrats!
  6. Looking nice there Steve. I think a little weathering would make it pop.
  7. Double good news! Congrats on the house and great to hear that the project will be started again
  8. EI was meant to be the same thing as MEPD Police Officer status - a path for those who want to go above the "FX out of the box" that was normal in the Legion but not so far that it would be very hard to do or very expensive (like Lancer was). So we picked a happy path that got rid of low hanging fruit (ab buttons, belts, tube stripes, etc.). And that's all EI is meant to be - a place for those looking to go above Legion minimums without having to obtain a lot of $$ or spend hours sweating over little details. While this was great and has helped the look of TK's in the Legion over-all, we also realized that there were those that wanted to go even further - to sweat out the little details in their suits. For film canon, yes this is down the path of prop replication but we have a bunch of EU suits too, so it had to work for them as well. Centurion is meant to be about as far as you can go on a Legion approved suit. There is a point at which prop replication becomes unacceptable from a Legion standpoint and thus we can't cross that line being a 501st detachment. Not only does is give a path and recognition for those who want the highest levels in accuracy, but it also like EI provides a path forward. Some may choose to go all the way, some just a few of the details. As most already know that for the films there were a lot of short cuts taken and these suits were only meant to be seen as background or for a few seconds at a time. As Legion members though we're spending hours in suits with people looking at us from 5' away, so prop replication can only be taken so far. People want us to replicate what they see on screen during the move, not how it looked when viewed on a Blue-ray freeze frame on a 80" screen. Close yes, but not quite all the way. Does that help? MEPD got to 33% of sandtroopers being deployed before they upped their Police Officer requirements, and EI is only at 8%. We have a loooooong way to go.
  9. You Florida guys are really rocking the suits - 12 EI and a Centurion. I suspect we'll see even greater things soon from the Sunshine state
  10. For all Legion members... The Legion charter is up for revision - not just small changes but large, sweeping changes that are trying to remove much of the ambiguity of the old charter, and also to update it to incorporate changes needed given our current size, global reach, and visibility. It is our duty as Legion members to vote and let your voices be heard. You cannot complain about your governence when you do not participate in voting for how it's run. So with that in mind - use the link below to vote as your conscious dictates. http://www.501st.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=66813&highlight=
  11. Better get your order in soon gents!
  12. All good - EI approved!! Stand tall - this is well deserved EDIT: your clone kicks butt, btw!
  13. Hi Ryan, This is a fabulous suit and you look great in it The only detail I can see is that for EI the back/kidney need to be fused together in one piece like ROTJ, not two pieces like in ANH/ESB. Mason did this with a strip of white rubber and hot glue for his. You can see this on his build thread: http://forum.whitear...pic=11145&st=20 Also, I think it's a miss on the CRL but the drop boxes are gray for EI IIRC. If you fix the two items - it's an easy pass. Also, you don't need to fully armor up for re-take pictures on these items - just the parts shown on you is all.
  14. Wow - excellent suit and an easy pass for me. Congratulations trooper!
  15. It's never come up as no one has been able to produce a good looking vocoder decal to date. It's possible (think of the tear/trap decals), but we'd have to see it with good pix before a decision is made.
  16. You made it easy Martin - you did an excellent job of this build and it shows in the details. You are a Centurion!
  17. Mathias has it right. I went through every detail and you have it covered. Congrats to being the third Centurion in the Nordic garrision!
  18. Agreed. TM + Nordic Garrison = white armor greatness. An easy pass, or else my eyes are failing. Truly great job. Approved, and can't wait for your Centurion pix
  19. Simply awesome - can't wait to see your Centurion app Approved
  20. Looks good to me and I think you did an excellent job not only in capturing the details but also in getting it to fit to your body, which was not straightforward in the least. Approved!
  21. Maybe it's height too. I found I could sit when needed (e.g. tired) in my ABS armor as it was old FX and very robust. I'm a bit loathe to give it a go in TE2 HIPS, though I will sit on the edge of a tall stool. For cars/taxi's, I find that it's the thighs that are the hardest part - I have to unsnap them and rotate and sometimes have to unfasten the belt. As for mobility - no problems with stairs in either suit, though I find the shins rotate when I do extreme movements, and I've done touch football in the FX and full on laser tag in the TE2. All this with no cut in the cod. Then again, I'm 6'0", so ymmv.
  22. I updated the title - 300 seems while a beautiful number just unrealistic given the resources we have. 16 though between now and December seems pretty achievable to me. I still have lots of gold EI coins left over.
  23. We're darn close to 200 by end of this calendar year - what a cool achievement that would be!
