  1. Interesting topic. I've been working on something similar for several months. I was just about to unleash it to see if there was any interest. It's made from a durable foam rubber. I plan on lining it with terry cloth and adding a skirt. The most unique feature is the rare earth magnet zipper. Here's my prototype minus the drape and lining. I'll be posting the interest thread in a few days.
  2. ABS ATA looks like nice armor. Thanks for sharing your build.
  3. The thermal detonator looks huge on that action figure. Looks more like a brandy keg. Hey! I kinda like the sound of that.
  4. HA! That brings back memories. I can hear my Dad yelling at me to grab him another beer.
  5. I've done nearly all those things. LOL. Thanks Chuck.
  6. Wow! that's quite a defect. I imagine it's the point where the plastic lifts off the buck just before the vac is applied. After the vacuum pulls the plastic in on the buck it kind of stretches or pulls at that point probably because there is a temperature difference between the plastic touching the buck on top and the plastic that hasn't lost as much heat. I can think of a lot of reasons for this. An extremely cold buck, a sticky buck (more talcum powder to allow the plastic to move on the surface), Thicker plastic that won't lose it's heat so fast as it touches the buck or quicker vacuum application. Interesting problem to solve. I hope you get it worked out with the vendor Sarah.
  7. I'll be there. Still trying to figure out how I can get my gear there. The aiorline charges extra for every little thing now.
  8. Hey, that Fett looks familiar. Is that Darren under there? Nice picks. Thanks for sharing.
  9. Wow, I didn't even catch that it was Rubies until Thayne said something. Nice job.
  10. Nice job. There's not enough Stormtoopers on TV.
  11. Working......what's new.

  12. Trying to stretch the shin like that without destroying it might be tough. Unless you just need to change it's shape just a bit. I've tried the boiling water trick but didn't have much luck with it. ABS becomes pliable near 350 deg. Boiling water is around 200 deg. depending on elevation. The heat gun blows at around 450 deg. I've heard of guys putting parts in the oven set at 350 deg. for just a couple of minutes to warm them up. Either way be careful and wear gloves. I made a slump mold like this to form my side shims. Worked pretty good. Not sure I'd try it with a whole shin unless I had a form to lay it over.
  13. That second one is a little fishy. Are you sure it's coming from his hands?
  14. Looking great Steven. Thanks for sharing. Congrats on finishing your armour.
  15. Thanks for sharing. The smiles on those kids faces says it all. What an awesome way to celebrate a Birthday.
  16. Awesome! Now you are a color sander. Works on your car too. Thanks for posting this. I've certainly suffered from these bad paint jobs. Next time I'll have enough guts to give it a try.
