  1. PP sent. Not much, but every little helps. Steven
  2. That's a real show stopper. Excellent kit, can you be my Dad as well? Steven
  3. Hi, I finished my Master Replicas Collectors Edition Stormtrooper helmet modification a while a go and have done a couple of troops with it. So I thought I'd add it to the hive mind. I bought a MRCE because it was cheap (at the time) and I thought it looked pretty cool. In the long run there was a bit more work than I was expecting, but here goes. Modifications completed: - Ears trimmed to fit closer in - Screws added to ears - Teeth filed to be more open - New darker lenses - Gap around 'frown' filled and face plate re-sprayed - New stripes decals - New mesh behind 'mouth' - Interior re-padded, painted black and fan fitted. The most noteworthy parts of the mod for me where: - The ears were a total pain, first to get off and then to get to fit back on properly. I began to regret it as soon as I went past the point of no return. - Filling the frown gap was difficult. I wanted to go down the silicone route, but I couldn't get it to work. In the end I just used filler so that I could sand down the other 'mold' marks as well. Luckily I only had to respray the face plate as HALFORDS gloss white appliance spray paint was a perfect match for the rest of the helmet (to my eyes). However, with all the elbow grease I used to shine up the finish, I began to open a slight gap in the filler, at the bottom. I was going to get worried about it, but then I just watched Star Wars to remind me of the rough state of some of the lids in that, and decided it was good enough. The rest was simply a case of replacing bits (more my cup of tea). Here's some pictures for reference. Looks pretty cool with the FX Lite kit.
  4. I used to have one as a kid. The diagonally striped tube inside the barrel also rotates to give a 'firing' effect. The catch on the stock became loose very quickly, which is perhaps why the ditched it? Steven
  5. Cool. I've been thinking of doing something like this myself. I like the way you've created a secondary on/off switch via the battery. Where do you 'wear' the box? Nice work!
  6. More of a thank you, than an announcement. FISD and the Galactic Knights costume group, have been essential in helping complete my TK. I haven't quite managed to send in my clearance pictures yet, but I've still managed to get one troop under my belt (provisionally cleared for the day). And score! There were three good photographers there and a local web news crew. The troop was loads of fun, I've definitely got the bug now! Flickr photo set Video Footage Sorting out my clearance picture this weekend, fingers crossed. There are a couple of mistakes, but I've checked with a few knowledgeable, who say that it shouldn't effect clearance. If anyones interested the kit spec is: FX Lite armour. MRCE lid, Trimmed ears with screws. New lenses and stripes. Frown gap filled and face plate re-sprayed. New Canvas belt. New ab buttons. Replacement thermal detonator. E-11 by itchynuts and ROM/FX voice box. Everything has been sourced through FISD members. Cheers FISD. Steven
  7. To repeat myself from RPF, your armour looks superb, definitely something to aspire to when I finally get my build together. Great work.
  8. Cheers, the flash photography doesn't help. I know a couple of people who could give it a nice paint job. If I ever get a chance to get it done I'll post some more pictures. Steven
  9. I've just realised that I never actually posted any images of the finished blaster. Mainly because my attempts to weather it didn't really work out, so I put it back to 'fresh off the line'. In the pictures it looks a bit weathered, but I have to admit that's just a layer of dust. Sorry for the repetition, I just thought I'd put a 'full stop' on the project. With my ItchyNutsDesign E-11, my mini (stealth) E-11 I made from my Doopy Doo left overs and my Shoto from Ultra Sabers , I've built up quite and arsenal. I was thinking of using them for some kind of Storm Commando, but they would probably suit a Mando better. Might be cool to do a Mando. I know a Star Wars EU artist who I might be able to commission to do a nice illustration of a Mando with all the kit.
  10. PP Sent. Keep up the good work.
  11. I think a couple of members have Rubies armor. Rubies Thread ----------- One chap is going to modify his. The body armour looks doable (as ROTJ), a lot of the problems seem to be with the way they are fitted or worn, perhaps they need re-strapping? The helmet is a focal point and lets it down the most, but a lot of people upgrade their helmets. It looks very durable, perhaps a candidate for someone who likes the rough stuff and who is up for some modification. It's still too expensive though, considering. I thinks it's the 'official' tag which causes the most controversy, epsecially if it's not 501st acceptable, I'm sure most people who buy are assuming it is and Rubies aren't telling them any different?
  12. Thanks for the positive comments. New update, nearly finished and base coat applied. Close ups: Adjustable stock: After surviving postage and giving it about a douzen bad knocks, the barrel finally fell off. So I decided to go for a removable barrel. It effects the look a little, but I think it adds to that sniper rifle 'break down' feel. The base coat is made up of a coat of black primer, then gun metal metalic, then a light coat of black. All there is to do now is: - Add cylinders and wires - I probably won't add a second 'screen accurate' scope as it could become crowded - light weathering and detailing with screws All the extra bits have added some weight, but I would say it is still (just about) troopable
  13. A bit more progress. All that needs doing now is: - Add E-11 cylinders to front disk of magazine, with wires to the Hengstler counter. - Add some slightly thicker pieces of pipe to the barrel, next to the magazine, hopefully this will just slide over. I've also got a couple of bits of detailing to add there as well - Add a scope from the film version to bring it back to the original a little bit. - Add some of those adjuster knob thingys from the ROJ version of the E-11 to cover any holes. - Prime - Under coats of silver, copper and brown. where applicable. - Spray black - Add a few round head screws to the magazine to match real version. I realise that I'm taking a few liberties with the counter and cylinders, but I thought, the more I can keep my additions in the Star Wars Universe the better? Steven
  14. Thanks, I've just found the website below and downloaded all the images. Amazingly detailed stuff, if anyone is thinking of making one. There is almost too much detail, so I'm having to select the bits I think are the most important. Reference images of MG15 It's caused me to send these off to be diecut by my brother, who has a laser and is luckily a massive Star Wars fan.
  15. Apart from the grip and a couple of switches it looks to be all scratch built. I've added the scope and stock. But it seems to be made mainly of the usual plumbing fittings. The two other smaller scopes seem to be resin casts of existing SW ones, with bits added.
