  1. Ok looks like whoever is in the LFL prop department must have a share in a torch company, everything is getting one these days
  2. You could use a matte clear, I didn't as I couldn't get any locally but I have some ordered and it's on the way, just means a re-mask but that won't take long, there's not that many pieces .
  3. Everything is first painted white, then clear coated, left for a few days to dry, then masked up, then 3 coats of matte paint applied and you are done. I do use different paint to most others, I can't stand Rustoleum or Krylon so I use acrylic automotive paint, dries quicker, less orange peel and is tougher and can be buffed and polished. The matte is going to be a pain, I noticed I have to wear soft cotton gloves while attaching pieces or you get left with greasy finger prints everywhere
  4. And we are live. Thanks again for getting this squared away Paul http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TK_TLJ_Executioner
  5. It's still a standard TK, just means I have 6 TK's now
  6. Shame what they did with the shoulders, but explains why they say "it doesn't need painting" had a feeling something wouldn't be right. Anyone that has put one of these kits together would have been wondering the same thing
  7. Many thanks once again Paul, thank you for all of your help getting this CRL squared away, one happy trooper
  8. With thanks to the LMO, his team and our DL Paul the CRL is live and I am APPROVED TLJE
  9. I prefer using a dremel, I use 3 tips, cutting wheel, drum sander and a drill piece, great for trimming thicker plastic.
  10. Unfortunately the refund does take a while, all I can say is hang on, I have seen others receive theirs in the end, cross fingers you don't have to wait too much longer
  11. Nothing better than a BBB, or a sideways bucket photo
  12. Ouch that's got to hurt, well at least you know they are safely there for your arrival home :D. I've heard a lot of guys have success with the magnets mod, I myself use elastic and snaps, I can get kitted up myself although it must look a little like a contortionist act for those that are watching Looking forward to seeing those BBB photos soon
  13. Hello and welcome aboard lots of interest iof late n the TLJ Executioners. A similar build to TFA's so have a look through some of those builds. Good luck with the progress.
  14. Great news, nothing better than a BBB on your doorstep. I didn't change anything with mine for centurion, you should be good to go, good luck with the build
  15. Hope things change and improve, FISD will always be here.
  16. As Chris said this is an automated process which is generally run at the beginning of each year but it seems you may have been missed, you could send a message to Paul "Daetrin" our detachment leader requesting affiliation approval.
  17. You can either attach snaps to pieces of scrap abs/plastic, the other option is to attach snaps to canvas strapping. Both ways get glued on to the armor with E6000 glue, we use the E6000 as it can be easily removed if you need to change out a defective snap. Some good threads to read are in the Tips and How TOO sections here
  18. Very sorry to hear the news, is there anything we can help with
  19. Looking forward to seeing the end result, great work
  20. Also if you are asking why double snaps? it's in case one comes off, on occasion they can either come apart or pull through the elastic so having an extra snap there can save you at an event Good luck, hope to see a build thread soon.
  21. Many thanks. I used some scrap pieces of ABS plastic I had lying around, but you could use any type of plastic. I tried to keep it light as I could and it has worked out quite well. God luck with your build hope to see some photos soon
  22. Great news, congratulations trooper. If you want to you could post a troop report in the Field Training Exercises section, it may get included in the monthly newsletter . Also if you would like to keep a record of your troops also post a Troop Log in the same section. One troop down and many more to come
  23. The help of a few with experience can definitely help the build along
