  1. Great news, nothing better than a BBB (Star Wars trailer maybe ) Looking forward to seeing your build thread soon, good luck
  2. Coming along nicely, I concur those sharp little edges can give you some nasty bites, a little wet/dry sandpaper just to knock the edges off. Great work, keep it up, you'll be done in no time
  3. Red is the new white If you want to get rid of a lot of the 3D printed lines I have found either use a spray putty or even silver paint as it helps fill in the print ridges, it's easy to sand and after a few coats really gets rid of a lot of fine lines. I do prefer the silver paint, one as it looks more like a metal base and two as it seams to dry a lot stronger than spray putty.
  4. Looking good trooper
  5. Sad news indeed, 5 years on and my TK boots are just as comfortable as the first day I put them on and still going strong after 125 troops the sole still has hardly any wear.
  6. Automotive buffing compound or polish may work.
  7. I updated my DLT-19 a while back from that image
  8. Both my TFA and TLJ-E use the same biceps (although I also have a more screen accurate pair with curved inside seam), they should be the same in both CRL's a seam facing forward and a seam on the inside.
  9. Great work, I'll keep an eye out to see if it gets posted to the new to the legion GML costume section ;). Good luck, remember the process for new costume approval can take some time for review so don't get worried if you don't hear back straight away.
  10. It really depends on the depth of the paint and what paint is used, a lot of enamel paints can be quite soft and are hard to sand. It would be best to lightly sand as it gives the new paint something to stick too as well, I would go over and sand it wet with soapy water (makes sandpaper last longer) with a wet and dry 400 grit sandpaper. Once dry you could go over with a primer, just to make sure the paint doesn't react to what you are going to use as well as to show if there are still any blemishes appearing before applying top coats. There are a few different masking tapes available, definitely use one for painting, don't use a normal house hold tape as it can let bleed through. Also for the corners you could use an automotive masking tape, it's more plastic and can be stretched and curved while standard painters tape can't. I have also just cut painter tape into curved pieces to go around some pieces, what ever works for you. Don't go heavy with your first coat of paint as it can build up and bleed under the tape, if this does happens once you remove the tape you could use a tooth pick to rub this off. Good luck, hope you have a win.
  11. Biceps are transferable form the TFA to TLJ versions, many TFA already had the two seams, I believe there is an update in the works for the TFA version. It looks like two points have been merged for the TD and this section is incorrect for the TLJ - E "A white stripe is present around the end of the cylinder that extends slightly onto the circular surface." Note: TLJ standard version Stormtrooper still has the white stripe around the endcap.
  12. Masking the areas will be the most work, it is time consuming but can be really rewarding once you see the finished product. Good luck.
  13. I applied some glue behind the front pate to cover strip, you can use clamps or apply a little heat on the sides , which will help them come in closer, E6000 does hold quite well even without a lot of area making contact
  14. Really depends on which glue they have used, you may want to contact them and enquire. If it's a instant glue then a few options are to soak in a warm salt water bath, put pieces in a freezer for try to pry at a corner and ease them apart with pressure.
  15. Congratulations trooper and welcome to the EIB ranks
  16. Agreed you have to start somewhere, I was only just looking at these images the other day thinking how long before we see our first approved. Good luck, looking forward to seeing a build thread soon.
