  1. There are glues out there which dry very quickly BUT we use E6000 for the fact that we can separate it if we make a mistake or need to adjust. Here is a good thread, a poll on what glue people used:
  2. Some great build threads already underway on the forum, perhaps have a look there
  3. Congratulations and welcome to the ranks trooper
  4. I do but the problem is with that image you can't really do that, or mirror it, the helmet is on an angle so it's really how you view it from each persons own perspective. If I get time later I'll have another look through the visual dictionary again and see if I can find a more definitive photo. I will just say the eye bump is one of those things that really sticks out on a OT Stormtrooper yet it's not a requirement to have it
  5. It appears to be there but it's very very subtle, I've just been through the R1 visual dictionary and it is slightly noticeable on some images but not others, really depends on what angle the helmet is on.
  6. I would agree the tread does look very tall in comparison but have you thought of trimming some off? Would be a bit of work but could be an option
  7. It's like walking through a hardware store, I never just see what they are selling, I see parts from a blaster, a laser ax, a droid and so on
  8. It would be a lot of work, could it be done, I believe you could modify it enough if you put the right amount of work into it, still there would be areas that would be very hard to replicate, the public I doubt couldn't tell but could you make it close enough to pass for approval, perhaps but once again speak to your GML. I did think about the modification myself but by time I had thought of the cost of the base helmet, the work involved (I hate sanding bondo) and what I would end up with (and I used to panel beat cars) it was just easier for me to purchase a completed one. There are quite a few makers just about ready to put them on the market, as well as the couple who are already supplying. Good luck what ever you decided
  9. I cover mine with a towel when I pack it in my bag. Still get the odd scuff now and then but it’s easy enough to touch up, generally I do this when ever I give the armour a polish, it’s amazing how many marks and grime you can pick up trooping
  10. Congratulations and welcome to the ranks trooper
  11. Congratulations trooper and welcome to the EIB ranks
  12. The paint I used doesn’t chalk but it does show greasey fingerprints, these do come off once washed with soapy water. i do have some matte clear on order so hopefully that will seal the matte paint and be harder to mark.
  13. Our Vader uses pre recorded voice files and has several push to talk switches in his glove which he can press depending on the required line needed. I have played around with cheap voice modulators before for a Boussh which worked quite well, added an amp jack to it so it would run to an Aker amp. Problem you will have is trying to replicate her voice, think I'd go pre recorded, seems they do at Disney parks
  14. Working for me, must be something to do with your account. You could contact someone on their command: Detachment Leader: Stephen Davenport (TR 4126) [email protected] Detachment XO: Sascha Wilsing(TR 12112) [email protected] Detachment Webmaster: Leigh T Michaels(TR 3676) [email protected]
  15. You will find that the eFX helmet is huge in comparison to a lot of other helmets available, there are more screen accurate and cheaper options out there, I suggest a little more research .
  16. Nothing better than BBB's, now you have some work in front of you, good luck
  17. It's not just the teeth, you could change the shape of the snout and narrow down the sides of the mouth a little using bondo then repainting, if you compare the two helmets closely you can notice a few of the differences, even the new Anovos Executioner doesn't appear to have all the details of the new helmet ;). The more accurate you can make it look the better, that being said it is your GML that will ultimately be approving your costume so at the end it is really up to him/her.
  18. +1 or any Stormtrooper in action
  19. I do the same way, leave shoulders snapped to the yoke to get kitted up. I also have the front shoulder snaps slightly shorter than the rear, helps to keep them forward when you move your arms. Looks like the black line on the helmet is quite glossy, hope id dies down once dried completely. Keep up the good work.
  20. Much more enjoyable than the first trailer, 66 days and counting
  21. We don't get any LFL official troops in my neck of the woods but we organise our own fan events. Word from LFL was posted on 501st forum the other day allowing all fan groups to participate at cinemas and for the Battlefront release: Lucasfilm Fan Relations Team wrote:Star Wars Fan Costume Appearances – · November 17-19: Battlefront II Launch · December 14-21: The Last Jedi Theatrical Events Hi all, We wanted to send the club leads some advance notice of two events that will be open to costumed appearances by fans without prior approval from Disney or Lucasfilm – the Battlefront II launch, spanning the weekend of November 17-19 (give or take a day or two) and the release of The Last Jedi, during the week of December 14-21. For the Battlefront II launch, we’re asking that the appearances be limited to those retailers who are selling Battlefront II and that costumed appearances not be used in the advertising for the event. Costumed fans who wish to participate at special events surrounding the launch of The Last Jedi between December 14-21, 2017 may do so at accommodating theaters without seeking approval from Disney/Lucasfilm. Like the BFII launch, we are asking that costumed appearances not be used in the advertising for the event. We are leaving it to the individual fans and fan groups to independently organize around these events as they see fit, so if you or your group will require a special area for changing in/out of costume, etc., please reach out to the theater management/staff to make those arrangements. Please note that costumed appearances for The Last Jedi premieres are restricted to theatrical venues only and do not include general retailers, toy stores, restaurants, etc. We want to thank all our fans for their continued support of Star Wars and look forward to celebrating more exciting movie releases with you in the years to come!
  22. Fingers are crossed for you, good luck, hope you get a speedy reply
  23. Fitting snaps can definitely help make the pieces removable
  24. For basic approval you don't need a blaster ;). I would check with your GML (garrison membership liaison) but in the CRL it doesn't state the use of a correct torch until L3 requirement: E-11 Blaster For 501st approval: Manufactured by BlasTech Industries, the E-11 is standard-issue for many Imperial troops. Light, compact yet powerful, the E-11 blaster is always in high demand throughout the galaxy. Based on a real or replica Sterling sub-machine gun, scratch-built, or a modified commercial toy Stormtrooper blaster. For level two certification (if applicable): Folding stock (does not need to function). A real or replica ammo counter - based off of a Hengstler counter - shall be present. D-ring mounted on the rear. Sterling based blasters have the correct M-38 or M-19 style scope. Two power cylinders on the magazine housing. Scratch-built, resin cast, Hyperfirm rubber cast blasters shall have a total of 6 T-tracks on blaster (leaving the lowest row on the magazine housing side uncovered). If using the Hasbro E11 toy blaster, it is modified to have the correct number of T-tracks (6 total), with a lower row of open vent holes on the magazine housing side. This is accomplished by covering the pre-existing rows of holes with T-tracks, then grinding off the lower integrated T-track on the magazine housing side, and drilling a new row of holes in its place. No ESB/ROTJ greeblies are allowed on the blaster. For level three certification (if applicable): Hasbro blasters are not allowed, even conversions. A correct flashglight attachment shall be present.
  25. I have found industrial silver paint to be a lot thicker but I have also used auto acrylic paint. I tried brushing on acetone before but you can loose detail in areas you don't want to. I've not tried the vapor myself but again I would think some detail may be lost. Spray putty / high build primer will work but you just need to go over a few times to get a nice build up.
