  1. I find you do feel cooler feeling the air crossing your face, could be a mental trick but works for me.
  2. You want to use a light foam that is able to be squashed a little, eva foam would be too hard in my opinion
  3. Really depends on gaps, I know the DO's prefer smaller gaps between elbows, thighs, shins and shoulder bells. Take a look through some of the recent centurion approvals for comparison
  4. Personally I tried a chin strap but found it uncomfortable, I ended up going for a thin piece of foam on top and a couple of blocks of foam which sit either side of the head, stops helmet bobbling. I have these on Velcro so I can take out and wash.
  5. Just on your shoulders I agree, they are a soft pull so cutting off and replacing the "faux lower bells" will look a lot better.
  6. Hello and welcome to the forums
  7. Nice work you may want to check the TD measurements and bracket placement,
  8. Jim's kits are flexible fibreglass, 850 armor works is ABS plastic so there is a weight difference. There are build threads from both makers, have a look through both the TFA and TLJ build threads sections
  9. Terrible news, unfortunately there are a lot of makers like this out there, we do when possible try to guide people to the "vetted sellers" list found in the Getting Started section. There are other makers of R1 armor out there that are delivering so there may still be hope for you. Good luck with the refund.
  10. There are different ears for Hero and Stunt versions. Hero 3 bumps, 2 screws, 1 top, 1 bottom. Stunt 4 bumps, 3 screws, 2 top, 2 bottom. You can find other differences on this spreadsheet https://drive.google.com/file/d/10tEVteIreh6AHMogW010cuH_Bf8TBfU6/view
  11. Great work, well done
  12. No images handy, on angle pointing upwards towards lens.
  13. Depends how thick the paint is there, you really don't want to see the old paint lines underneath, but if it's only thin I'd paint straight over the top.
  14. One fan is usually enough, hottest troop I've attended was outside on 39 deg C day and didn't need the second fan. As long as you can keep the lens clear that's all you really need. It is good to have a spare fan/battery setup just in case your main one goes flat during trooping One fan per battery pack is what many use.
  15. Have you thought of contacting RS Props for pricing of a new helmet then make a decision on price difference and the extra work to bring this one up to scratch?
  16. Happy belated Birthday and what a great present. 3 weeks so you have some time to research, looking forward to seeing those BBB photos
  17. Flexing plastic over time can cause cracks, you get this a lot with thinner armor Yes it can be fixed, support it from behind and if you really want to fill the crack line with ABS pasted then sand an polish.
  18. Was hoping you'd check the measurements first, you may have cut off a little too much, here is an overlay
  19. For most troops (especially with stairs) I use a hard suitcase and helmet bag, all the arm's legs fits inside each other then go into the body clamshell. For repair kit I have polish/rags, glues, snaps, small hammer, screwdriver, duct tape and spare elastic. Apart from some pre troop polishing I've not needed the other bits of the repair kit but I've used some for others
