  2. Even in retirement, you're still showing off!
  3. I used elastic at first and many do, it just didn't work for me.
  4. You can always emulate it. At first I made a nylon belt with a buckle and used 3" wide black elastic glued on the thighs and velcro sewn on. The thin nylon belt was very uncomfortable and the elastic bunched up at the belt.
  5. Ouch! Looks more like a FO TK trimmings pile.
  6. Sign up for a photobucket.com account to host your photos as you'll quickly fill up your allotted space here. Welcome to the FISD and make sure you follow ukswrath's Anovos build thread.
  7. I was going with a DIY route but ended up buying THIS instead. Much more comfortable than what I came up with.
  8. I used these for years in my Army days and they are quite comfy. I am actually in the process of swapping out my hard hat liner for these.
  9. Put a small hole from the back side and fill it in with silicone lol.
  10. What a beautiful laundry basket holder! I almost spit my coffee out! Makes me appreciate my MTK helmet even more after seeing the side by side.
  11. The forearm to bicep strapping is a super easy fix. I agree with Germain about leaving the bottom ridge. I cut the crescent shape out of mine but it wasn't enough so I HAD to trim from the top as well. Someone please make a kit for us shorties lol.
  12. Yep, I stole the idea from a few other ANH builds, it's really there for alignment purposes. I originally used elastic but it didn't work out so I swapped to nylon.
  13. I think the work around is getting one through trooperbay. Not 100% on that though so don't quote me.
  14. Looks exactly like my chihuahua, Chewie.
  15. I made a slot (at the top of the photo) and you can't see it in this picture but there's a piece of curved ABS that goes in there to help keep the ab and kidney aligned. I also use nylon pieces with snaps to hold it in. Then the belt is cinched tight to really hold my gut in lol. Those random pieces of abs glued on the kidney are reinforcements because the MTK kidney is pretty flimsy and is prone to rips by the bends (at least mine is).
  16. I think I can speak for everyone that during the first build you'll second guess yourself about a bunch of things and stress to get it done. But once it's done and you finally get that 501st approval it'll all been worth it. Looking back at my build I could have done a ton of things differently but still happy with my result. One day the wifey will let me buy another kit so I can officially join this detachment and I'll probably be able to build it in a week.
  17. You could always use your old FX to make a death trooper.
  18. A big thing is removing the overlap method and doing butt joins. My GML still rocks his FX armor but obviously with a different helmet. He just got Anovos though.
  19. Yep, Mike's armor is for the most part 0 wait time and at a reasonable price. I had the option of waiting a year or waiting 5 days for shipping. I'm now a 501st approved Sandtrooper and I'm still not up on the list for another's armor. I also took my time during my build.
  20. Preach it! Or if you don't want to do that, TKittell will take care of you. </EndofStory>
  21. Looks fine to me. You could possibly try and straighten a few of the black outlining but that's the only thing that stands out and not a big deal either.
  22. I was watching trooperbay's video and he said something along the lines that the sides of the diamond should be centered between the ridge at the top of the shins. Mine is pretty close to that and after a few test runs I knew I couldn't go any higher without it being right in front of my thigh. I also put like 4 or 5 layers of ABS scrap on the back so it sticks outwards too.
  23. I'm so short I had to cut the top of my thighs and notch out the bottom, also had to trim the bottom of my shins. He said he was going to round them off, those were just a quick hey it's assembled photo. Not like he was submitting those to his GML for approval.
  24. Quartermaster has been MIA for a bit and Dirty Boy makes sandtrooper backs. From what I've seen, HWT packs aren't overly complicated or use hard to find parts so you'd be better off DIY.
