  1. I was just wondering if this was the helmet.
  2. Here is a great shot of how long the forearms can be on a trooper. I really wish my forearms fit this well, notice the elbow sits well into the forearm.
  3. Thigh back, I tried to keep the detail on the bottom even on both sides. I had to trim quite a lot of the inner thigh pieces. the inner parts of the thighs have excess material so you can trim them down to fit your size. The front view
  4. Do you have any pic's of your forearms.
  5. Your homemade TD clips look really good. Be sure to drill a small air vent hole underneath the control panel, so the end caps will seat all the way down.
  6. i wouldn't buy it, out dated fx armor. Since your in the UK look for TM or RS armor. Don't be in a hurry to buy armor, good armor is worth the wait.
  7. Hi Kelly, Trim the forearms at the wrist end, just line up elbow end and and trim off the excess at wrist. the cover strips for the arms are 15mm and 20-24 mm on the legs and up to 25mm on the backs of the shins. These are the ideal size, but if you have a larger limbs you will have to make the cover strips to whatever size needed so that you can fit into the armor. When trimming the arms for instance and say your using 15mm cover strip, you would trim the shelf to 7-8 mm on each side, roughly half the size if the cover strip. Don't trim the top of the thighs until you have the armor completed, the less black you have showing, the better you will look. All this is covered many times in the armor building section. I would check it out and ask plenty questions if needed. edit: As far a sizing the forearms just big enough at the wrist end to get your hand through. The shins like you said join the fronts and size , thighs the same only that you will have to size the back more, depending on your size. I have some pic's of NE armor that I down sized to fit my skinny legs, if you need more help I can put up some pics for you. You just have to taper the back of the thighs just slightly so it will look right. The thighs cant be tight, but more loose fitting so you can lift your leg while walking. The biceps big enough so you can flex your arm when you take off the helmet. before you cut , tape the parts together and make sure there not too small.
  8. Hi, try moving the connection point for the bell on the shoulder strap foreword, this may help.
  9. I would only buy it, if it has variable speed. Like said above these tools have many uses and this is important for other hobby and household uses. IMHO
  10. i can't tell you how many snaps I went though before I got it right. I haven't tried wallys snaps. The best tool is the anvil, hammer and snap setting tool. Most snaps are made for leather, which is much thicker than elastic. When making snap plates for armor these are fine, just make sure the shank of the snap pin gets fully flattened or the snaps won't close properly. Elastic straps are so thin that I sometimes double over the ends to make them stronger before putting snap through. What you can do is cut about 1/8" off the shank of the snap pin with a rotary tool or file, this will help the snap set all the way down. I am not sure of the problem your having, but it sounds like this may help. Good luck Nick
  11. I would go with the ones on the right side. They look about right, are they about 16 mm wide? the ones on the left look to wide.
  12. My ATA helmet fit's fine with no padding in the top of the lid. the CAP west helmet is a tad larger than the ATA and not so claustrophobic. If you have the funds, get an RS or TM, of course these are the best choice.
  13. Once everything strapped properly you will look really good. Being taller trooper myself ,make sure to use three straps to hold the ab and the chest plate together, this should keep the chest from popping out. I went through numerous snaps and straps before everything was fit right. The shins will set nicely on the boots, so don't worry about that. The biceps could come down a little, but the forearms look really good the way you have them. Having longer arms will show more of the glove when the arms a at your side, this is normal and how often will your arms be at your side anyways. Showing more black between the bicep and forearms, ruins the look. The helmet looks really nice, the teeth could be more squared off in the corners, try an exacto knife, these work really well. One thing , the elastic on the thighs needs to be wider to support the weight. Most fabric stores will have this, get length of 2.5 ft of 3 inch wide elastic, you may not need that much, but just to be on the safe side. Hope this helps , your almost there.
  14. The Dave M helmet is a great closeup guide. This may answer some of your questions. Check out the painted details when your ready to paint. Have fun and take your time.
  15. The one thing I noticed, they have in common is the button covers are right next to the edge of the belt.
  16. You be the judge, one looks 40mm and another say 45mm
  17. Have you tried putting the amp in the back plate?
  18. As far as I know, the hero helmets were made from abs and the stunts were made from a different material and painted white. The hero helmets were for the close up shots and were made to a higher standard.
  19. Hi Maxim, panda troopers measurements on the tube strips is not 13/16, but more like 15-16mm. i don't how he came up with that. Sorry for the confusion. Someone will chime on this measurement.
  20. Line 24(5/8") snaps, that's them, you may get a better deal online if you buy in bulk. My local fabric store keeps raising there prices, so that's what I did. get extra, you'll need them. You need around 31, but this depends on a few things. Get 50
  21. The first red amor build I have seen. This armor will look really good on you because your so thin. I first padded the forearms, but opted to connect them to the bicep on the inner part of the arm, this way there not so tight and they stay in place and very comfortable. This was how the original armor was put together and for good reason. As far as SpecOps, I would go for highest level, much easier to do from the start and you won't have to fuss with anything later.
  22. Hi Eric, I can't tell from the pic's how your chest and back are connected to the ab plate and kidney piece. Take a look at this strapping setup. This will help keep everything in the right place. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/24487-diagram-of-snap-placement/ You could first try raising the ab piece where it meets the kidney on the sides. Maybe about 2 inches or so, this will raise your belt closer to your waist and off your hips. This may work. The cod looks a little shorter than normal, did the previous owner make the cod shorter? If so, after you raise the ab plate you could lower the cod if it's too high. This gap will be hidden by the belt so it wont show. Hope this helps.
  23. The helmet looks good. The profile of the ears is good, but I would keep the same shape and size then down to make them slimmer.
  24. Looks good, if the crotch strap is to short it can pull the butt piece down like in your photo,
