  1. They look to low, I would move them up a little before painting.
  2. There is not much flare on the bottom chest sides.
  3. Research first then cut, your off to a good start. Nothing wrong with taking your time, things usually turn out better and you learn more as you go along. This is a pic of the chest and back. You can see a little return on the sides of the chest, just enough to make it look solid and armor like. The bottom of the chest has more of a return edge maybe 1/4 " The back also has returns on the side and bottom. These pic's are of the tk300 web site. A quick reference for some details.
  4. Glad you figured it out.
  5. Have you figured out the biceps?
  6. Congrat's your armor looks great. This probably doesn't matter but your shins are paired wrong, really not that noticeable.
  7. I fold the ends over so the elastic is double thickness, that way the snap won't pull thru the elastic if pulled on.
  8. It's not a waste, but a learning experience, your parts look salvageable, just take them apart. Should be an easy fix. I can't tell you how many times I had to resize and take things apart.
  9. Like Vern says the parts are misaligned. The goal here is to help you make your armor look as good as it can.
  10. These are AP thighs. I built a kit for someone last year and I took some pic's.
  11. Hi, you don't have to trim any off the tops, just line them something like this. The finishing strip ends at the top of the bottom detail on the bottom of the thighs. The right thigh has quite a bit of extra material on the bottom, as you can see in the photo this will be hidden by the knee ammo pack. Notice the detail on the bottom lines up where you have the red arrows, just line those pieces up. The bottom of the left thigh may not line up perfectly. Let me know if this helps. Nick
  12. Great looking helmet, your patience and attention to detail paid off.
  13. Nice work Steve. The top of the thighs, I wondered about that. I see a lot of builds with extra material.
  14. Wow! Good thing it's on pre- order.
  15. Dont use CA unless you can do it perfect the first time. Plus CA can ruin the finish on the armor, if it runs or you accidentally drip some on the armor pieces.
  16. The boarding party hero, I wasn't sure that was the same helmet until now. The scraped and taped up hero is awesome!
  17. Yes, the Dave M decals are good, if you don't want to hand paint.
  18. No problem, just be sure to remove all the return at the wrist before sizing.
  19. #1 goes with #4and #2 with #3.. The left outer forearm has 11 dimples the right outer has 12
  20. Enjoy your build, it's ok to be nervous. I was on my first build, just don't worry to much. there are plenty of people to help you here.
  21. Looks like you have them paired correctly, the curved sides are the front of the bicep. Size them up and glue them
  22. Just a note, If you are trimming the armor way down to fit you, save all the plastic you trim off the leg and arm pieces and use it for cover strips. Thats what I did and It matches the armor better than the material sent with the kit. You may not be able to do this, it really depend how much you have to trim off. I hope the pic's help
  23. OK here they are lined up, left and right respectively. only trim at the wrist end and remove all the return edge at the wrist before sizing, this is the detail on the left, that little swoop in the raised edge.
