  2. So I'm about done with my armor, Really the only two things needing to be done is attaching my holster to my belt and modifying my hasbro blaster with the doopy doo's kit. So here's my (hopefully) really quick quesiton. I was over on the 501st website looking at the CRL's and saw that I could attach the holster with snaps. I was wanting to go this route so that if anything ever happens to my belt I can snap the holster off the belt to get it cleaned up easier, but how should I apply the snaps to the belt and holster? Should I do it like I did with the snaps on my armor pieces and put the snaps through on nylon strips and then glue them to the belt and holster? Or should I put them directly through the material, and if I do that what side of the snap should be facing out, the smooth top of the female snap be facing out or the male snaps bottom with the hole facing out? (if that doesn't make sense I can post photos of my snaps if need be.) I can see where it's connected to the belt in the main picture but the connector is too small and I can't tell what is facing out or if that is even a snap that they used or the rivet or chichago screw they used. I figured I would ask before I do anything, because having to redo my belt doesn't seem fun in the money area as I don't have a ton of it at the current moment. Thanks in advance if anyone can help me out.
  3. I have NE armor, it's by the makers of the old AM armor. Mine's not approved yet, as I still need a holster, but I know other people in the Mountain Garrison who have their's finished and they were approved no problem, so it should be approvable. My guess is it isn't on the initial list because it's new and just hasn't been added yet. I got mine in June or July on the second run of it.
  4. Sorry it took so long to respond I was at work. Here's pictures of what my forearms currently look like. Left (This is the one that has the most overhang by the elbow): Right, has only a little bit of overhang on one side of the armor by the elbow and on the other side it's flush by the elbow but there is a bit of overhang by the wrists:
  5. So, just to clarify, on the forearms I should (since I have a bit of over hang on on the elbow size) I should trim that to meet? Then for the length of the piece to fit I would then line up the elbow and instead of adjusting for size from the elbow adjusts for size from the wrists? Or should I pull the forearms apart (They were already glued down) reline them up starting at the elbow instead of the wrists, and then just cut everything from the wrists? Figured I would ask. Also if you wouldn't mind showing me some pictures of the leg pieces that would be awesome. thanks.
  6. I wanted to post here before I cut anything beyond the point of no return. I'm pretty sure that here on the forearms I've got where I need to trim down length wise correct. But on the right forearm I found it it a little bit difficult to follow the shape. So before I cut these do those cuts look like they'll be alright? Left Forearm Pictures Right Forearm Pictures Then for the leg pieces. I watched a video that trooperbay put up on youtube where he was cutting the fronts down to the size of the cover strip, and same thing on the back. He didn't really say how he sized it though. So my thoughts on the leg pieces were in order to trim down to size; For the calf pieces, since the front is straight and the back seems to be more curved I thought I would cut the front down for the cover strip, and leave the back. Once I have the cover strip on I would clam shell it on my leg figure out where to cut the back so that they butt together, and once I have that cut glue a cover strip on one side leave the other side open, and then put Velcro on them to hold them together. Would that be how I should do that. For the Thigh pieces I was thinking to cut them the same way. Cut them so they butt where the cover strip will be. then once the cover strip is on figure out where the back pieces need to butt together, and then put the cover strip on there. The only difference between the thigh and calf is that the thigh would be fully closed, without Velcro, and would just be glued together. Does that seem right? One other question is that if the thigh pieces long to the point that I can't bend my leg, I've seen two solutions to this so I figured I would ask, Should I just trim down from the top like I'm doing with the forearms or should I just cut an area out the back where the knee is so it can bend? (I saw a few pictures on white armor where people just cut a small curved area out of the back of the thigh where the leg bends. I'm hoping that once I get home from work tonight to start trimming that stuff down, but I wanted to ask first before I cut and destroy things.
  7. Decided to go with the hero set that came with the helmet. I liked the way the thinner ones looked. Thanks for the help.
  8. My helmet is almost done, everything was going smoothly until I goofed on the tube stripes and put them on backwards. Obviously I'm going to have to peel them off and put on a new set. Here is my question though: I happen to have an extra set of tube stripes that I ordered from trooperbay before I got my build, they are a bit thicker than the stunt tube stripes provided, and I also recieved a set of Hero decals with the helmet as well. The ones I had previously are on the left and the ones on the right are the hero stripes that came with the kit. The hero stripes that I recieved are thicker than the stunt stripes I recieved with the kit, and the ones I have just lying around are thicker than both of those stripes. I checked the CRL over on 501st.com and I didn't see anything about tube stripe thickness just as long as it's between 9 and 13 stripes which it should be once on the helmet. So would I be alright to use either of these sets of decals to replace the stunt ones I screwed up? Or did I just miss a line that said something about how thick the tube stripes should be? I'm hoping for a quick response as I wanted to have my armor done in time to bring it to a convention to show my friends here in the next two weeks so if I need to get in contact with the maker of my kit to have new ones shipped out I need to do it soon or I'm not going to have the tube stripes in time. Thanks in advance for any help.
  9. oh, oh, oh pick me I have the comparison shot... Uploaded with ImageShack.us apparently I can't figure out how to put photos in my posts so if that doesn't show up... http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/4938/anhcomparisonnostripes.jpg
  10. Don't have my armor yet so I can't do the before and after armor pictures yet, but maybe once I'm out of school and a bit closer to my start date I'll post pics of my before and after weight in civilian clothes. Anyway Before the start of the new school year I was down to about 180lbs (I had lost 90lbs before that so I guess my real starting weight would be 272lbs but since were looking at the present that will just be an FYI we'll ignor it for the purpose of this forum). This school year I pretty much have been focusing on all the upper level classes I have to take and alot of the ones for my major are production classes which meant that I didn't have much time to spend at home or workout and for the first half of the semester I had been working two jobs so I really didn't have much spare time and I ended up eating out alot because I didn't have time to make food to bring with me. As a result I gained about 40lbs, putting me back up to 228lbs. This last month since I haven't been able to work out I've been doing the atkins diet since my mom was doing it anyway and it was easy just to follow along with her, and I lost 13lbs so far. Starting in the next week and a half once I'm out of school for the summer I'm going to be going back and doing INSANITY and following the meal plan with it (Guess that's the exact oposite of Atkins but I figured if I wasn't going to work out I might as well diet so I can start losing some weight before I start my workout plan). I want to do P90X along with INSANITY as well this summer but my aunt and cousins are moving out to Colorado from Tennesse and will be staying at our house until they find a place and my aunt gets a job out here. This unfortunatly means that the room that I have my pull up bar for P90X mounted in may become a bed room, so I might not be able to do P90X just because my gym may not be accessable, however I'm for sure doing INSANITY as I can just clear off the work bench, grab that old t.v. with the built in DVD player out of the basement and do INSANITY in the grage. I haven't started working on my armor yet, one because I ended up goofing and getting a recast so I'm currently looking at getting a new kit ordered here in the next few weeks, and I would love to look sharp in my armor once I get it done. Also I hate that my drivers liscense is a lie... I must change that lie into a truth again, or if I can make it a lie that I'm heavier than I actually am I would like that too. Starting weight: 215lbs Goal Weight: 180lbs (technically that's still about 20lbs over the recomended weight for me but it's a good starting place) I'll try to remember to take a before picture once the Monday I start my workout and post it here. I'll hold off for bit though as I'm not starting right away.
