  1. HOLY CAPE COSTUME CRIME FIGHTER!! Gary that's a nice suit. I am torn between Keaton's Batman and Bale's Batman. Both suits are great and both actors played the iconic Dark Knight well.
  2. Happy Birthday Pete!! Hope you have fun mate!! :headphone:
  3. You can go the Hasbro mod route, or you can also build your own E11 from scratch. Here is an easy way to build yourself a really nice ANH E11: Purchase the Doopy Doo's 20 piece kit and their Hengstler counter box, and resin M38 scope. Then all you would need is a 1/8 inch thick by 3/8 inch wide, by around 9-1/2 inches long piece of flat bar for the scope rail. A 40mm diameter, by 18-1/16 inches long PVC pipe and use the ANH blueprints from the Blaster Builder Club for the barrel/body of the E11/Sterling. Link to Doopydoo's kit: http://www.doopydoos.com/stormtrooper-e-11-pipe-blaster-base-detailing-kit-2068-p.asp Link to Doopy Doo's Hengstler counter box: http://www.doopydoos.com/stormtrooper-e-11-detailing-part-hengstler-counter-box-1558-p.asp Link to Doopy Doos resin M38 scope: -------------- Link to Blasters Builder Club blue prints: ------------ Also, if you don't want to build or mod yourself a blaster, then you could go with the HyperFirm ANH E11 that Slavefive/Lewis makes. You can find him in the "For Sale or Trade - Personal Items". Link to his ANH E11: -----------
  4. Sorry, Pauldrons are only for the Sandtrooper, Incinerator Trooper, Nova Trooper, and the HWT. If you are doing a regular TK (white Armor), like an ANH, ESB, or ROTJ, then Pauldrons will not be accepted. If you've already ordered one, then just keep it, and use it when you build one of the others that do have a Pauldron as a part of their costume.
  5. Thanks Paul Here's where the fun begins....
  6. Great work Pat I think your Hasbro mod/chop has been one of better ones I have seen. I like that you got rid of the old scope, rail and the speaker area that's suppose to be the "Hengstler" that Hasbro/old Kenner put on their verison of the E11. I always felt that it made it look (wierd) bulky. What are you looking for to extend the barrel, PVC or Metal? Try metalsdepot.com if you are wanting to use something metal. Have fun with your mod, man.
  7. Usually they need 2 to 3 months to be able to accomodate most appearances. It might be a help since you are in the UK, if you can get one of the staff members to re-title this topic something like this: "asking for an appearance in Warrington Chesire UK". If one of the staff members are not able to re-title your topic for you, my other suggestion is start a new topic with a title that connects closer to your geographic area, since the FISD covers worldwide. Even though the UK Garrison may not be able to come as a large group, some of the members on the FISD, in the UK, may be able to pop in if they have not already committed to something else. Hope one or two can come to your son's birthday party. One way or another, I hope he has a great 5th birthday.
  8. I am not going to quote any prices on manufacturers. But, I don't think you could go wrong with a TM, AP,ATA, or TE2 when it comes to accurate ANH looking lids. It is kind of up to the individuals taste. Lid kits from the vendors here are going to be quality and worth their price. Just contact the vendors you are interested in (from the list) via either their email or PM them. You can determine which one hits your budget. Just one thing, stay away from Ebay, man. Remember the old saying, "you get what you pay for". Most armor and helmets on Ebay are going to be of lesser detail (recast) and of thinner material, which in the long run, means it will not stand up to trooping. Being 6 feet and 190 pounds, you could possibly pull off some of the other suits like AP,TE2 or ATA. You might see a little bit more black gap between the armor but if you know how to adjust the suit to fit your build, you can kind of cover that. As for the Skullworx, as I said I haven't messed with it. I think you would probably come closer to getting someone to answer the questions about the all-in-one electronic kits for helmets if you would start a new topic in the "Electronics for Helmets / Blasters" section. You could title it "what are some of the best all-in-one electronic kits for your TK lid"?
  9. It might be your browser. Have tried firefox for your browser. I had something like that happen over on MEPD.net until I started using firefox.. Give it shot.
  10. Hey Pete, there has been some hiccups with the FISD, go here and see what else is going on with the forum. http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=12676
  11. Yeah, I know, its not good, not good at all It hurts to lose, infomation and history.
  12. PM sent with TE2 contact info...
  13. I have noticed that there are missing post, not edited (like by the staff or the member) but totally gone... vanished! and the post were there the other week. Look at the the link below, post #1,#4,#7,#10,#11,#15 are gone, and none of the post state: "This post has been edited by - fill in the name -" http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=11244&st=0&p=140133entry140133 There maybe more vanishing/missing post around the FISD. I did not know this happened during the recent site update or maybe a computer virus did it...Just thought I would bring it to someones attention..
  14. EXCELLENT TUTORIAL! But! we all can now blackmail ya with your wife about you bring old motor oil into the house... I keed! I keed! EXCELLENT JOB! Terry! Thanks man
  15. Hey Mike, Probably with your size and build, you might want to look into the RT-Mod. The highlight in red is from "The various types of armor and where to find them". Comments: Designed especially for taller/larger body types and has more capacity to fit these troopers (without shims) than TM or AM. Arm and legs molds can be adjusted up or down to custom fit measurments supplied by trooper. The helmet is 4% larger than an original helmet. The difference is subtle but better matches the scale of the (RT)suit Here are some comparisons from the RT-Mod site: RT-Mod is on the right side of the photos (slightly larger one) -------------.
  16. Also if you have an existing scope (like a solid resin), and you are wanting to pimp it out, then check out this little tip/tutorial by the Great and talented Billy (BillHagg) in post #3 at this link: -------
  17. Are you wanting to make a scope, or do you already have one and your want to pimp it out? If you are wanting to build one from scratch, try these two links: ------ ----------
  18. Darn, they'll only ship in the UK... Oh well, I enjoy looking for vintage Tupperware anyway
  19. Answer to question 1. All the original screen used stunt lids had flat green acetate or acrylic lens and the Heros had bubble lens in either green or smokey grey. Even though it is hard to tell on the screen and in photos that the lens are green, that is why all the replicas are that way. Answer to question 2. Yes, you can buy the lids separate from the armor. Most of the makers here sell a full kit, which includes armor and helmet, or they sell just the lid separately. AM does sell a lite kit which means that it does not come with the helmet. Answer to question 3. The bang for you buck would probably be ATA or AP. Right now, Mark (ABS80) is running a special on his AP lids with minor flaws. But, it is a personal preference of what you are wanting. Like the TE2 (bumpy cap and back) has all the original characteristics from the original HDPE helmet that it was molded off of. Some of the other ones like AP, and TM will have a smoother finish to them. Also, you have to consider what material you want the lid made from; HIPS or ABS. Part 2 of question 3. If you are asking what the difference is in the look from an ANH, to the ESB to an ROTJ, then check out this link:http://www.starwarshelmets.com/original-stormtrooper-comparisons.htm It is a side by side comparison of the different versions of screen used lids.
  20. Have fun with your build Julie what kind did ya get ATA or TE2??? Don't forget to post pix.... Wait a minute, look who I'm talking to, Femtrooper Julie not posting pix I keed
  21. Hi Shane, I see that this is your first post on the FISD, So welcome FX is no longer being made, only way you find them new now is recast on ebay ( which I strongly say Avoid! ) AM - Armor Master(also know as Tupperware) is the new generation that took FX's place. Also there are many other Armor Kits (at great prices)that can be found by reputable makers like ATA, AP, TM, TE2,and T/MC on the FISD. Just have a look around a wee bit more and you will find them. Also you might want to introduce yourself so everyone here can get to know you and welcome ya aboard. Here's the link: New Member Introductions
  22. Yeah, there are a couple of sellers on ebay that mod scopes knowing that SW fans are looking for certain types, you just have to read between the lines to make sure what it is before bidding on it.
  23. That is not a real M19, but is a mod/cut down of one of these scopes, M38A2, M40A2, M47A2, M77C, or M77D. The M19 is not the same dimensions and has different design elements compared to these scopes. These scopes (M38A2,M40A2, M47A2, M77C, M77D) were essentially the same as the M38 and M40 scopes. But, the M38A2, M40A2, M47A2, M77C, and M77D had a grooved section in the center of them where a bracket/clamp mount was attached. The person in this auction just cut that section out and made this scope about 18mm shorter. So, in my opinion, they would have been better off selling this scope un-modified instead of trying to make it into an M19 that they are trying to auction off on Ebay. Here is the one in the Ebay auction: Here is a pic of my M38A2, M40A2, M47A2, M77C, M77D scopes, so you can compare and see the missing section:
  24. Hey Cornelis, First let me say, between the two, if you have the money go with the AP. I think you will be happier with the end results, especially since your long term goal is to be part of the 501st and with an EIB. Anything is possible if you set your mind to it. I have seen guys on here put their armor together within a week or two. But, they were also old hands at assembly. I would not rush the job just to be able to go "trick or treating". But you have already said Halloween 2010 is not your goal. What I would suggest is whatever armor you do get, to find out if Star Garrison is having a armor building party. If they are not, find who is close to you from the garrison and see if they can give you some hands on pointers. And, don't forget we are all here for you too. BTW, here is the Star Garrison link:http://www.501st.com/members/garrisonroster.php?garrisonId=21
  25. Nick, I am a person that never pays any attention to the odds. The thing that you have to do is to try. I am going to quote Garry Marshall (if you don't know who Garry Marshall is, he was the producer of many hit television shows throughout the past several decades). He was giving advice to an up and coming director. His advice was "you failed at what your were trying to do, but try again and fail and then try again and fail better". What Garry was telling him was you may work at something and fail at it, and you may work on it again and fail, but you will learn from your mistakes and get better at it and will eventually achieve your goals. I went back and saw that you first came to the forum in January of '09 to see if you posted where you are located. But from the 6 post that you have done there is no indication of where you are. But, from the way you spell some of your words, it looks like you may be somewhere in Europe. But,no matter where you are, there should be a garrison near you. There will be people there who can mentor you in the process of your build. I know you said that you don't want to burden anyone with helping you put together your armor, but most of the guys in the garrison and here on the forum, enjoy helping out someone. There may be someone on this forum that is your neighbor and you don't even know it. As for the sculpting, trying to make your own molds, I would say that if that is something that you want to do, don't give up on it. But, if you want to get into trooping now, there are several kits that armor makers/suppliers here offer that start at $400 and go up, that are much nicer than what you would purchase from StarwarsCostumes.com. Like I said if you got one of these kits and felt that it is too much of a daunting task to put it together by yourself, there is someone here and in the 501st that will be happy to help you with it. The FISD DL, Paul, said that he made this forum because when he first got started there were not many cohesive sites to help people who are just starting out and wanted a place that was dedicated to helping one another, exchange ideas and support to help make peoples suits the best they could possibly be. So if you could possibly indicate where you are, we can try to find someone near you that can help, if you need hands on with your kit. If you could tell us you size,(height and build), that will help us to be able to suggest to you which kit would best suit you. Whatever you do, don't ever give up on your dreams...because that is what makes life worth living. I am going to end this with a quote from a sports legend ~ Rudy Ruettiger: Never Quit. "Don't ever, ever quit. Recognize that stopping now, regrouping to try a new approach isn't quitting. If you quit you'll regret it forever."
