  1. Recast is very common now when it comes to TE and TE2 armor. That is not to say that it is right by any means. Ebay is well know for this and other unscrupulous acts in the prop world. By saying that it's not bad for the price or it doesn't look half bad, somewhat gives the impression that it's OK. The things that I would have to say to anyone who is thinking about bidding on this is that the helmet does have soft details to it, not to mention several flaws that I see (look at pix below) indicates whoever made this lid didn't known what they were doing to begin with. The major thing is that it is a recast. I don't know if you have ever worked on something extremely hard or paid for something, only to have someone take credit or steal it from you. The same thing when it comes to reasting. How would you feel, if you were the one that owns and or made the original molds. I will leave you with this Latin proverb: "Caveat Emptor" or in English "Buyer Beware"!
  2. WOW! Nice animated grunt armor. Great battle weathering, not too much, just enough Now, what would be super cool, is for somebody to post one pic with the CT's from EPII and EPIII through TK's EPIV,V,VI. That shows the evolution (side by side comparison) of the suits, kinda like what Hasbro did with the action figures. But with real suits and not toys. Sorry Joey for running into a different direction with your post, it just pop into my head.
  3. SWEET LOOKING flamethrower! Nice work Mason Now, I have to see if anyone has and old Breast pump, that I can have.... Can you see the look on their faces.
  4. Try some Sporting Goods Store for fitted gear... Like this: ------------ And to cover up any small logos, just go to Michaels or any art/craft shop and buy Black Fabric Paint. Fabric paint will stand up to washing and drying.
  5. I would agree with Paul, RT-Mod or AM Lite with an AP or TE2 lid or go with the full AM kit. The new AM lid as you can see it in this pix that I took at C5 of Paul (Our DL) TK8020 and Jim Peternel TK8151. Jim said, his suit is all AM.... Paul in back, Jim in front. Paul in back, Jim in front. No more bobblehead TK lids....
  6. Hey Ryan, nice looking armor, great job man The only things that I see, that you will need to do, is like Bryan said above about the utility belt being raised and the drop boxes out more and your note about the knee ammo. The other thing I see is the space between you kidney and Ab armor should not have any black showing. The CRL requirements states in the "Should Have": or if you are going for the EIB this is a "Must Have": * Armor side gaps should be closed. This should be done by adding a shim or shims of material that must be of similar material and color as the ab and back plate. Shims should fit flush and may have seams. Ideally they will be seamless if possible to the ab and/or back plate, resulting in a single seam between the ab/back rather than extra seams for where the shims are joined You can go to your local hardware store or Walmart and get the "For Sale By Owner" plastic signs and spray paint them white to blend in for the shims. Or, you can check hobby shops. They sell small sheets of ABS and HIPS for making model cars and 'planes that can be used as well. Other than that you are looking good. Oh BTW, you can "cuss" me later, but since you are an ANH stunt, I know it is hard for right handed people to get used to it, but you will need to hold your blaster in your left hand
  7. Hey Ryan, Sweet lookin' AP suit Nice fit... Sounds like Vern was a great help to ya, so KUDOS out the Vern for that From the pix, it looks like all you need is now is an undersuit and the holster, and you will be on your way to the big show. And maybe boots, could not tell, no feet shots.
  8. Are you wanting something like RomFX? ---------
  9. I saw the Trek apartment in Trekkies or Trekkies 2... I can remember which... I thought, that's totally cool. I also love the Death Star Throne Room too! or building a house just like Jabba's Palace..
  10. I think your HWT looks good William Nice work on the bazooka. Just make sure you take a new pic of this one before sending it the your GML. Your shoulder bell is down.
  11. ROTJ's were thermoformed from ABS, not painted like the stunt ANH/ESB lids. Without having it color tone matched up and then specially mixed up for you.... The closest one on the shelf is the Rust-oleum Biscuit Enamel spray paint #210372 UPC: 0 2006612621 6. If you can't find any, just PM me, the shelves are full at the Home Depots and Lowes near me. I will happy to help you out with it. Long as it is not Air mail / over seas (Arerosol paints are prohibited on airplanes: will explode from the air pressure).
  12. Light Battle weathering like, carbon scoring, scuff marks, scrape marks, "battle damage" like the clones. No sand for Incinerator, leave the sand for the TDs....
  13. Nice one Mason, Never say never
  14. NO, I have not won the lottery or inherited any money <_< Right now, I am at the office with my nose to the grid stone, work,work,work.... But for a moment I was day dreaming.. What if I became a ZILLIONAIRE, what would I do with the lute OK, ( in my head) I am one of the richest people on the planet... Now, What would be the first things I would do with it First thing that comes to my mind is donate to good causes to help find a cure for diseases such as cancer, aids, junvenile diabetes, autism, birth defects, etc. Als donate to organizationssuch as: Make a Wish Foundation, The Petty Junction Gang, Ronald Mcdonald House,The Shriners, etc, find people that trully need help and help them, etc.... Now, after you have donated to good causes, all the good deeds have been fulfilled... What would you do? You are still EXTREMELY RICH. Your zillions are making you millions of dollars in interest every day. Now, What would you do for yourself? Be a kid, and indulge youself.... Or what inner dream do you have and what would you do to fulfill it if you had an endless amount of money? These are some of my fantasies: Contact George Lucas and buy the total rights to the Star Wars Franchise. Once I have obtained that, I would re-make the prequels, the way I envisioned them and then continue with some sequels 7, 8 and 9 and maybe even past that. If George wouldn't sell the franchise to me then I would spend the money to build a time machine and go back to before he even got pen to paperand start the Star Wars Galaxy myself. We wouldn't have just 6 episodes, but about 20 by now. Can you imagine all the trooping that would need to be done? I would also start my own Star Wars Theme Park entitled Stars Wars Galaxy, where everyday is a galaxy far, far away... (Hey if Mickey can have it why can't Darth?) In the theme park you would have rides like The Millenium Falcon Ride Through Light Speed. This ride is the fastest roller coaster ever made. You would have all of the different terrains like Tatooine, Dagobah,Hoth and Endor where you can walk in and believe that you have been transported there. There would be landspeeder bumper cars, and the Tie Fighter Tilt A Swings. There will 4-D ride with the simulation of going trough the trench run, the asteroid field, etc. There would also be space battle rides where groups would either be in Tie Fighter or X-Wing simulators and they sould be communicating to there squadrons mates like you can in online gaming. Also there would be theme foods like blu Bantha milk,Hoth Ice cones, fried Mynock (it taste just like chicken). There will mock battles throughout the park. There will be an area where fans can dress up as their favorite character and be blue screened (super imposed) into some of the classic scenes from the Star Wars Saga. It will be video taped and made into a disc for you to take home and enjoy. There would be a permanent museum, with all the original props, with videos talking about them for all to see and enjoy. I could keep going on and on, but I am at work and have got to put my nose back to the grind stone. I will say one more thing, I would have free authentic costumes made by the original prop makers, for anyone in the 501st. Hey I gotta quit day dreaming and get back to work, but before I do that, again I ask this question; if you were extremely rich what would be your indulgence?
  15. Lookin' GOOD And like Brian said above "trim the corners of the utility belt" and finish trimming some of the edges/contour on the tops of the thighs and the forearms of your armor... other than that, top job A pic from your photobucket gallery:
  16. Well, it's about time you got the pix up Tiffanie! Thanks for posting them Nice looking 2nd Imperial Officer suit!
  17. Say NO! to recaster... Look into this part of the FISD: http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=11538 It is were you will find most of the reliable armro makers. The two big things about the armor kit that you have seen on Ebay (seller MAKEROFTHINGS), is a recast (which is not permitted). The other thing is, his armor and helmet is Vacuumformed out of 0.060 material, and will not stand up to trooping... Most good armor kits are made out of 0.80 to 0.090 material. I know that you said in another post, that your budget is "VERY tight" I have been there in your same shoes and can sympathize with that. But if you spend $260 on a suit that is not going to be what you need, then you wallet is really going to be hurting. Contact some of the armor makers and see what their prices are, most of them don't ask for the payment until the armor is ready. Some do have layaway/payment plans. They may even have some B stock that they can give you a deal on.
  18. BTW, I am not the same Tom in the YouTube video... But I do have a BIG FAT head
  19. Most all troopers do. It also helps with your lenses from fogging up Here is a vid that I found on YouTube that may help ya!
  20. Hey Davis, About any TE derived kit will work for your body frame. I know that you say that your budget is "VERY tight" I have been there in your same shoes and can sympathize with that. Contact some of the armor makers and see what their prices are, most of them don't ask for the payment until the armor is ready. Some do have layaway/payment plans. They may even have some B stock that they can give you a deal on. And like Tim said in his post " Say no to ebay and rubies."
  21. Oh yeah... A drill with new bits that are made for drilling into plastic, and, or a Dremel too!
  22. Rivets and Rivet Gun (If you are going for a more screen accurate look) You can get them at the hardware or hobby shop. Naps/Jean Rivets (If you are going for a more screen accurate look) You can get them at the Cloth shop or Tandy Leater Factory. Industrial Grade Velcro. You can get them at a cloth shop. Industrial Elastic (in black) You can get them at a cloth shop. A big Rubbermaid style tote. (to carry your armor in) Walmart, or Hardware store, etc..... And a larger memory stick for your camera.... (so you can capture memories of your build and share them with us )
  23. Your pix are missing, so I can't really tell ya... but I will make an educated guess.... It sounds like, and if you got it off of Ebay, then it was more than likely "MAKEROFTHINGS" MAKEROFTHINGS is a recaster of Tony's (TE2) lid and armor. Recasting is not permitted. Between MAKEROFTHINGS, PirateTrooper and a half dozon other unscrupulous characters out there making recast of Tony's kits, you have to be very careful who you deal with. Is this the guy you got the lid from? --------------
  24. NICE work all the way! Love the lid and the shoes mod...
  25. Very nice suit Desmond ! it fits you well. But, I don't see the Rivets on the left side of the ab/kidney plates and the one on the right. I know the EIB states its a "SHOULD HAVE" but, my curiosity get the best of me, and I have to ask, if you are eventually going to add them?
