2. Thanks for your post, Erik, I have started a conversation in staff area regarding our current awards scheme. It works well as is, but maybe a face lift is needed after 6 years of it running. Throwing merch at everything isn't the answer, we don't run a merch shop as JRS do or at least did, that was also open to dishonesty and people lost their 501st membership over it for profiteering. As Glen mentioned above, our system works well and has daily interaction. Let's not forget we don't troop for merch, that isn't the basis of the 501st, it's a nice to have and yes a perk of membership. On another note regarding size of Det based on approved members and costumes as per posts in the FB page, we don't have the luxury of a cheap entry level costume that can expand into 3 or 4 approvals. So arguments about another detachment being larger will always fall flat. If there were an Off duty Stormtrooper soft costume, maybe that landscape would look a little different, but we don't so it is what it is. Can you imagine this, lol
View post on imgur.com
https://i.imgur.com/HUlg17D.jp

 7. While I support this idea, keep in mind that you won’t be the only one removing the detonators. Mischievous younglings and fellow troopers can’t resist trying to snatch them. There’s a fellow TK in my garrison who loses his detonator at least once a troop (it’s ended up on someone else’s kit, on the props table, with the droids, on his bin in the change room … ). Now I’m off to try and figure out how to incorporate @gmrhodes13’s foam detonator idea into my ROTK build …

Dressed in formal Imperial fashion — which naturally includes full armor — this groom is ready to march down the aisle with military precision and just a touch of romantic rebellion. Forget the bouquet toss; he's more into thermal detonators (purely decorative, of course). 19. Hi Luis, and thank you for your EIB application! CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All required photos have been submitted, and on behalf of the entire D.O. staff we are pleased to welcome you to the rank of Expert Infantry. Congratulations! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly; In this area we review observations made by your fellow troopers and the DO team. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor, and please keep in mind that we consider both text (CRL) and pictures (screen caps/reference images) when reviewing submissions. Starting from the shoulders, The left shoulder strap, seems a bit short. Maybe you can move it a bit to make it look like the one on the other side. Reference Images The raised ridges should be aligned. A simple dressing issue easy to fix. The other leg looks perfect. Reference Images *************************************************** Centurion Requirements: In this section we prepare you for our highest tier of approval. Because Centurion photos must show more detail than EIB, items pertaining to Level 3 might be seen there and not here and additional photos may be required. We try to point out all that we can from what we are able to clearly see, but the final accuracy is the responsibility of the trooper. Starting from top. CRL L3: Neck trim shall be of an s-type profile rather than a u-type profile. Your helmet's neck trim has the correct "S" shape, however, it was installed incorrectly. It should go with the flat section facing outward, on the edge of the helmet. Reference Images CRL L3: There should be a minimal gap between the shoulder armor and the chest/back plates. This looks like a simple strapping issue. shortening the shoulder strap and a bit could reduce the gap. Another trick here is to remove the Shoulder Bell's return edge to allow them to sit close the chest armor. You can also flip the bells forward a little. Reference Images Centurion is all about accuracy, It could be some light effect but we noticed your handguards have a return edge or border that you will need to trim a bit for L3. Reference Images CRL L3: Ideally there no gap between the abdomen and kidney armor. Abdominal and Kidney Plate align horizontally at top. In your case, just take care to align correctly the AB to Kidney armor every time when suiting up to avoid overlapping or any gap. Reference Images -The position of the holster. It seems to be too far offset, so much so that the rivet almost disappears under the TD. This is very noticeable brother, that's why we're requesting the fix for L3 . Reference Images CRL L3: Drop boxes are vertically aligned with the end of the ammo belt with minimal gap between belt and box. -One of the boxes is slightly misaligned. Just as a matter of taking care of this when suiting up . A useful tip is to add a dab of E6000 to the ammo box strap to keep it fixed to the Canvas Belt. Reference Images Moving down , we have the rear armor that looks like is overlapping the kidney armor quite a bit. A recommended solution , (I have use it with mine) , is to use the V tabs system. You can mold then with some ABS pieces and a heat gun, glue then to the top section of the butt plate , leaving loose the kidney lower section.. Reference Images CRL L3: Lower thigh ridge joins (front and rear) shall butt-up flush against each other. Any gaps must be backed with ABS or filled as not to be noticeable. Your thighs show a small gap that can be easily fiexed. Gluing a small piece of ABS plastic behind and filling the front with ABS paste would do the job. Reference Images CRL L3: The blaster may have minor weathering or base metal exposure however, T-tracks and grips shall be of a black plastic appearance with no silver/metallic weathering allowed. Some battle damage is always a nice detail, buy according to the CRL and on screen images, you would need to apply and extra coat Black paint . Tha T-tracks and grips must go with no weathered look. Easy fix. Reference Images That's all trooper. Congratulations and welcome to the Expert Infantry Club!!! We are pretty sure you'll do the move to the next level soon !! remember to request your Certificate HERE

 20. I've always put this down to hard armour is not exactly comfortable. I've seen a lot of people build a TK troop an amount of time and now are only seen in an ID or a TI. The idea of something for the trooping awards is not a new idea, There was a staff discussion, I think last year, but it sort of fizzled out and we re-focused on more important tasks, The issue of stock is a big one, we are not in a position to be able to sit on any stock as some one will have to be out of pocket. The other option is to do low volume runs which isn't ideal either, Then there's things like "how many are you allowed", you don't really want an unlimited count on these. Also, believe it or not, FISD isn't a merch heavy detachment and never really has been. We probably have done a little more over the last year or so than in the past, but from what I understand we are not the highest volume producer. Either way, there is now a staff thread and we will consider it again.

 21. I've painted the details on the smaller box of the pack, as well as painting the front of the belt. This picture is before I sanded my thermal detonators I've also painted the front belt, as well as went over some of the armor that I still needed to clear coat. You can also see in this image the updated forearms as well as the calves in the last picture. The thermal detonators are also done sanding and are now painted white

For those of you who were able to attend I hope you had a great time. It looks like this was a good one. The next one returns to the USA, to be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center I am sure the team over in California will put on a great event. We've also seen Andor return for Season 2. No spoilers from me for those of you who have not caught up yet. Just as a note for anyone looking to work on any new costumes that are featured in the show that LMO will not be taking any potential new costumes until the season is complete. This is to ensure that any costumes are fully understood before any decisions are made as to which detachment would be appropriate. This month also saw the Captain Enoch CRL submitted to LMO. This is a great step toward this CRL being completed. It's worth noting that this process takes some time, and we're not at the front of the queue. There is also a possibility that the LMO will want changes to the text, or images prior to approval. There is also another issue which will slow down the approval process. The old CRL system you are all aware of is being migrated to a new system. The old system has been struggling for a long time and is now in the process of being replaced. The FISD part of this process has been completed but there is still work to be completed before the new system can be launched. Until this new CRL system is in place no new CRLs will be being approved. The current estimates are this will be launching "soon" with the Web and LMO teams working hard on getting this done. While our Expect Infantry and Centurion programs get most of the attention, FISD staff wants to relaunch the Armorer Program (Currently called the Master Armorer Program). What is the Armorer Program you ask? Well, it is a program designed to recognize those troopers that go above and beyond to assist themselves and others in getting costumes built, submitted, and approved. One of the goals of all the detachments in the 501st Legion is to help members build and submit costumes that meet and hopefully exceed the minimum requirements of the Legion’s CRLs. Currently the Master Armorer program has the requirement of helping a minimum of 5 members achieve Expert Infantry status. The member must have spent at least 30min physically helping another member with cutting, gluing, sizing, etc, just because they want to help (no money exchanged). There are 3 levels of the award, FISD Armorer, FISD Senior Armorer and FISD Master Armorer. The new program will add a 4th level at the beginning called the Apprentice Armorer. The point scale will be as follows. 5 points - Apprentice Armorer 10 points - Armorer 20 points - Senior Armorer 30 points - Master Armorer If you love building armorer and love helping fellow members get their costumes built, then this is the program you’ve been searching for. We look forward to awarding more members with this award as we know how much we all love Troopers helping Troopers. More information can be found here Armorer Rocker Patches Rocker patches are now available for the Armorer Program, there is currently just the one patch, and members are eligible to receive two of them once they reach Level 2, "Armorer". More information can be found here Want to setup a "Fire Team? the Fire Team program is completely optional and is intended to help form a common identity and spirit of camaraderie among 501st Legion Stormtroopers in the same geographic area/garrison that troop together. Fire Teams are not officially recognized by the 501st Legion nor the FISD, although they will be able to access a Fire Team sub-forum on the detachment website. You can find more information here. For those interested here is the original discussion on the creation of Fire teams here With Unquestioned Loyalty Mark Ryner TK-4584 "captsafe66" Fire Team Relations So what exactly are and levels? These programs were designed for those who choose to take their armor above and beyond the minimum requirements for basic 501st Legion approval. It gives you the chance to show a level of dedication and pride that takes your armor closer to being as "screen accurate" as possible, without as much extra work as you may realize! You can find more information on the programs here. For those unaware it is possible to achieve extra awards at Expert Infantry for each additional version costume you have approved, additional awards are not issued with another Expert Infantry number (you are only issued 1 Expert Infantry number) but you will see a star above the award on your profile and the thread title will show [APPROVED] 2nd, [APPROVED] 3rd, [APPROVED] 4th and so on. Multiple EIB award recipients and info here NOTE If you are approved with a "2nd Version" of a particular costume that you are already approved with you do not receive an additional award, there is only 1 award issued for each costume version ie: only 1 x Hero, 1 x Stunt, 1 x HWT, 1 x ESB, 1 x TFA and so on. If you have a second/additional version costume approved you will see "2nd Version" and [APPROVED] added to the thread title, no additional profile stars (more info on profile awards here) For those of you who have a particular issue (or issues) before or after submitting for Expert Infantry / Centurion level approval, in order to get you an answer faster you can now privately contact the entire Deployment Officer team at one time! Questions about fitting, repairs, CRL standards/requirements or anything pertaining to reaching Levels 2 and 3 are not only welcomed, but encouraged. 25. Hope I’m not too late mate: Bicep hooks: I used a piece of cover strip abs 3/4” wide by 4” long Mark one end in two segments 1” long, once done trim and sand the edges of the piece so it doesn’t fray the elastic. Break out a heat gun, and have another piece of abs cover strip available to help form the abs when it’s malleable. Heat up the abs, keeping 4” to 8” away, I highly recommend having some heat resistant gloves to avoid burning yourself. You will see the abs start to soften, once this starts to happen, place your other piece of abs on the warm abs and begin to fold it over. Take your time shaping the abs into position, and I highly recommend doing a few practice runs. Once you have the hook shaped, it can be tightened up applying some more heat, and a ruler. Next heat the abs again to shape the bicep hook to match the contours of your bicep.
