Couldn’t stop doing some work today, so here’s a few more updates. Each section has been updated as well.
First the shins.
I finished the hook closure method in the back.
Then the thighs I added a mobility cut and they feel better. You’ll also see the shins I did a mobility cut (too much armor bite was going on in the back.
Belt I started the glue of the cap covers.
And for kicks and giggles I gave the lower half a test run.
things fit and felt good. Only adjustments from the run were the mobility cuts and I did trim the extended plastic on the sniper plate forward by 1/4 inch just because it was digging into my knee. This way it’s not going to slice my knee up.
Definitely starting to look the part. Hard to kit up and take photos yourself but the use of a full length mirror can help, especially if you have someone taking photos that may not know what to look out for.
I can kit up myself, normally @10min but have been quicker when I've been rushed, does help having long arms and legs
So these pictures aren't the best cause my helper is at work but I couldn't wait! Man, this stuff is hard to get on by yourself but I'm sure it gets easier. The rear crotch snap wasn't going to happen without me standing on my head so my rear looks rather large! There's a lot of clanking going on when I walk and I can already tell you I need to trim more out of the insides of the thighs. Might go with a piece of foam for the inside of the sniper plate to keep it off of my knee. The double cap rivet in the ammo pack on one side popped right off when I was taking everything off. A helper is vital. The back of my belt isn't lined up good enough. I think I'm going to replace it with a split rivet and washer. I feel like I'm close. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Update the boxes have left LA, hoping they arrive in AUS this week, though i will most likely get a nice letter from customs to pay import taxes
quietly hoping i will have it for may the 4th.
I use a piece of ABS plastic just smaller than the actual shoulder strap, heat and bend to the shape, rough up with sandpaper and glue with E6000, gives some nice stiffness to the shoulder straps
Luca you would have killed it at the Detach meetup had you had those meme coins in hand. I mean, I'm sure you and Biggi and the rest of Chaos killed it anyway. =)
Chris - We accept your offering.
Shoddy, inconsistent placement of the ear screws - just like the originals, check! haha
The glue residue is unfortunate, but at least it's slotted and countersunk. Would probably be best to redrill and move it above the neckseal trim line for those who are going for higher levels. Interesting, thank you for providing!
This TK build was approved! TK-31701 reporting for duty! Thank you so much for everyone that helped me get this far (especially gmrhodes13 justjoseph63 TKSpartan for always responding to my questions incredibly quickly!)
Now, on to EIB!
