  1. It is with great sadness I make this announcement as we have lost one of our own. Unfortunately Terrell Reber TK-1787 (SuperTrooper), know by many as ATA Affordable trooper Armor has passed away. If you were ever fortunate to have spoken with Terrell, you will know he had an affect on people. He had a way with words that made you feel like a lifelong friend, he was intelligent, talented, and believed everyone should have the opportunity to live out their Stormtrooper dreams. Terrell is a huge loss to our community in many ways. His service to FISD our members and the Legion at large will never be forgotten. Rest in peace good sir, and may the force be with you always.

  4. It is with a heavy heart that I mourn the passing of Terrell Reber, who was my XO for many of the early years of FISD and later became DL in his own right. In that time, he contributed his insight and wisdom in many areas most particular in the areas of armor, molds, and armor making. He was the first person to find a legitimate, conflict free path to selling TE derived armor when he founded ATA. It may be hard to believe, but there was a time those years back when a decent set of FX armor was $1200 and TE type armor was hard to acquire from a reputable person. ATA changed much of that, and ATA set the bar for providing quality armor at an affordable price. Hence ATA: affordable trooper armor. He was very picky about quality and hunted for plastic suppliers who would provide virgin material with the right shade of white. He could have charged more and had a long wait list, however felt that would be against his principles. These days there are many options for people to procure quality TE type armor at an affordable price, and we have a solid list of reputable makers. It can be hard to believe that it wasn’t always this way, or that even having a public list of vetted armor makers was considered taboo. With a glance at a picture, he could tell you the make of the armor or helmet and could spot all the “tells” that was uncanny. He gave selflessly his experience and advice to FISD members time and again. However, most of all I will remember him as someone who was always there to take a phone call when needed. Who gave selflessly to this hobby that he loved. 43 is just too young. Buckets off, as I drain it of my tears.

  5. So, after quite a few evenings spent reading various threads on here, I ordered a kit from RS Propmasters. It only took around 10 days to arrive, despite the horrendous problems we are having with supply lines and shipping at the moment. However, when the BBB arrived last weekend, it looked like it had been thrown out of the back of the plane onto the tarmac. So I took several photos, more than I will post here, then unpacked everything, thankfully no damage was found on the armour :-)

  6. Not an actual costume, more of a prop, came up with this for our Christmas Pageant which was held last night, with a lot of our members not trooping this year our attendance was going to be down and as this is our biggest event we attend during the year (over 300,000 in attendance) we needed something to fill our depleted lines. As I had a couple of baby Jawas I made years ago the idea for a sandcrawler came up and as I've been unwell of late if I found I couldn't complete the pageant (and as I was wearing my Mando) I thought I could just lay across the sandcrawler and rest as that would have been screen accurate Luckily I made it to the end as I don't think the Jawa would have like pushing the extra weight. Checked out a few trolley's but ended up choosing a twin baby pram as it could lock the steering and had a brake. Added some removable structure to the front Some measurements taken to make sure it will fit into the Imperial Transport (the Jeep) then on to transferring the design via projector onto some sheets of MDF, template used MDF panels cut Test fitting panels Making sure the Jawa's were happy with the construction Had to be quick to assemble and dissemble so velcro seemed the best solution, pays to have some extra jars and tins in the pantry Nose cone was the worst with so many angles, ended up with applying some fiberglass to the inside for strength as well as a metal support beam across the top Checking everything will fit and working out some present boxes, this took a while, to save space every box fitted inside the next, magnets also added to the top boxes so they wouldn't move Presents wrapped and adding some lights Unfortunately no photos of the painting or addition of the lines, 6 permanent markers died in this process. Still have to remove some marks from the tiles, shhhh the landlord hasn't noticed them as yet. Also added some driving lights, there's some pretty dark spots during the pageant so these would come in handy Our Jawa waiting at the start of the pageant all lit up And away we go Some of the suggestions for improvements mentioned for next year by members while waiting for the pageant to start: Cut out the sandcrawlers windows, insert tinted acrylic, lights and a couple of Jawa figures. Motorized so a member could drive Fully stocked bar Helmet and Saber hooks so we don't have to hold on to them while waiting for the pageant to start Rotisserie Keg on tap Fold out chairs on sides Up sizing 20% each year so we end up with a full scale model, we can then just sit inside and wave and not have to walk, not sure how we would transport that Having other vehicles made in similar way X wings, Tie fighters, Tauntaun's pulling sled

  11. I have not signed in here in a long while as i havent had a TK for a bit and am mostly engulfed in Boba Fett stuff....but i heard this news and i had to come here to say how much of a great guy Terrell was. Iv'e spoken with him countless times about armor, and Star Wars in general and even worked with him for a bit building his kits for members here. I only met him in person once at Celebration V i think it was. He was a true gentleman and it was great to talk with him in person that day. He will be sorely missed in the community. He was by far, one of the great ones. Gone way too soon. Buckets off for a more than great trooper

  12. Hi Mark, Where abouts in Kiwi land do you hail from? I’m from Wellington. Perhaps you could host an armour party & have some of the local members attend & help you with the TK assembly. Cheers, Phil

  14. Yupppp, so the other person he enlisted to help get things back on track is me haha I set out (with a huge assist by @MaskedVengeance) to gather info for potential legal action and found a brother in need instead. Frankly, life hasn't been kind to Daniel lately and he's in quite a deep hole, but he's coming out of it, has no intention of ripping people off, and wants to make good as best he can. I'm somewhat local to him and a project manager by trade, so I volunteered to help handle business/order management and communication/updates so he can just focus on production. I'm still optimistic and hoping he can dig his way out but hopefully my assistance in eliminating any known roadblocks or excuses will eventually benefit the community. No way I'm gonna let him leave everyone hanging but I'd rather seek positive outcomes if I can. Expect email updates soon if you've reached out to myself or Caleb and we'll be hopefully working our way through most of the backlog by end of Q1 and implementing better business practices moving forward so this doesn't happen again. Consistent updates are coming soon and I appreciate everyone's patience and understanding in the meantime.
