  1. I try not to use any electrical buffers as you can burn the plastic if too fast or heavy, normally for hard scratches I'd use a automotive cutting compound and hand rub, for lighter scratches or dull surfaces Novus works the best

  2. Hi Dave, first of all congratulations for your weight goal ! I think I need a bit drop off weight too. . for polishing my armor I have used car polish , some soft fabric and physicals power , why this?, using a Dremel could cause the plastic to melt a bit in some places , I think you could try some test in a scratch piece of abs plastic first.

  3. Good call on that, David, I do the same thing. Many troopers add the padding in the top but find that it causes the helmet to sit way too high, giving them a "bobble-head" appearance and making it really difficult to see.. (our field of vision when wearing a bucket is not that good to begin with). It works for some, but not for others, so best to do a test run before permanently attaching it.

  5. Hi Richard, glad to see your new sniper knee. When making a review, we consider not only the CRL as it but the screen Reference images . OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): Sniper knee plate must be aligned with the ridges on the shin. REFERENCE IMAGES This is a recent build I made with a RWA Kit, as you can see the Snipper knee aligned with the ridges and closer to the cover strip. In your case , I would suggest you can trim the corners a little to allow the sniper knee to get closer to the cover strip and keeping the ridge alignment too. You could try trimming little by little . The 1mm abs thick could be easy to adjust.

  6. I'm trying to polish up my kidney shims and wanted to ask some polishing advice. I dropped a bit of weight over the last year and needed to bring the shims in a bit. Its done, and now I've got to clean them up. I'm using Novus to give it the proper shine, but I wanted to ask if anyone's used the buffer on their Dremel to polish their shims or their armor. I'd like to speed up the process a bit, but I obviously don't want to damage the armor. Thoughts would be appreciated.

  7. What also works really well is the 3M Headlight Restoration kit (Home depot or Amazon for under $20). Using a cordless or corded drill take the kit supplied buffing pad and liquid polish and buff your cover strip area, and the rest of the armor. Regardless what you use slow polishing works best, prevents plastic melting as mentioned above.

  8. Ya know.... if you're gonna use common sense..... That's a good idea and I wish I'd thought of it. I've gotten pretty adept with the dremel and it comes with the buffing insert, so I'm going to scuff up a piece of scrap ABS and see what the tolerances are. I'll post a how to if it works. thanks all!

  9. If your build is stop-motion, what does that make mine?! Haha. Really looking forward to following your progress, Mario!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. Did minor weathering with graphite powder on some raised areas. Basically simulating repeated drawing from a holster and a TK's gloved hands wearing the grip and manipulating the safety. It is hard to capture the shiny bits in the pictures. I also burnished some internal grooved areas on the right hand side for more visual interest. Next is a clear coat. I may do it flat rather than satin so I can have the grip panels contrasting the main body. I also just remembered I need to find appropriate screws...

  12. Thanks Mario! I will make the front cut then do another test fit and post some pics before making any cuts on the back. May take a little off the back as I know a good amount will need to come off anyhow just to have straight edge when fitting. M

  13. That overlap is pretty normal, but you shouldn't have to force anything. Depending on where/how much tightness you have, imagine it this way... do you think you could hold that pose (arm bent) for an hour or more? If so, no problem, but if you have any discomfort, some trimming/adjusting may be needed. Looking great so far, sir, and nice taper on those forearms!

  14. Ab plate fix looking good. You could trim your smaller ab plate a little more, yours looks curved on the sides and overhangs the raised area, references below
