OKAY, I'm way behind on updates for this thread, apologies! I've had some setbacks in the build, which got me so frustrated, the last thing I wanted to do was rehash them! Normally trooping helps remind me why I invest so much time and money in these suits, but since that's essentially off limits for now, it's been rather disheartening. Still finding time to work on it here and there tho, and I AM getting close! Here's a few updates to hold you over. Okay, let's start with an easy one that went well. Handguards are smooth and glossy and velcro'ed onto my Endor Finders gloves easily. DONE! All body panels are done in paint - I just have the helmet left to (re)paint. I didn't have enough clear to get it glossy and smooth, so I ended up deciding the orange peel was TOO much and sanding the clear off until it was smooth again. It'll get painted this week, then on to the colored details. Added in the rear zipper closure from Rogue Repro... I also tied a little cord on it so I can zip and unzip it myself! Next, I started gluing in nylon web tabs with Line 24 snaps in them in order to attach the suspenders! As it turns out, gluing onto the paint was not a great idea, and the FastHold took the paint off with it. Frustrating. The back panel came out well though, with almost no pinholes or paint issues! I also masked and painted the blue, then the grey details on the ab. Another setback... snapped the stem on the brand new can of blue. Got blue everywhere, but luckily, got enough on the ab first. I'll clean em up a little, but that'll do. Also tried masking and painting the side stripes... and they came out awful. Ordered some "precision" masking tape (seen in green) before repainting... Better... I'll keep adding to this as I can - there are some more photos and updates to share but it's too hot haha3 points

Helmet BS (to be modded) Armour 850 Props Undersuit/Shirt TBA Boots TBA Gloves TBA Hi there, I recently purchased a set of 850 Props ROTK armour from a fellow FISD member in OZ and yesterday the BBB arrived at my doorstep. So far I am pretty pleased with the sculpt on this kit. I have had a 850 Tanker armour previously and it wasnt as sharp as this is. I have a BS helmet which I plan on modding to be more accurate. Not sure at this stage where I want to go with this. I have always like the RO TK's since they came out and they have since appeared in Solo and The Mandalorian. I am keen on the Mimban Trooper from Solo as I a really dig that blast shield on the helmet. I realise that it is covered by the MPED CRL, but as I will be starting out building as RO TK I thought I would post here first. Cheers Scott 33732 points

You guys will have a hall pass as you started construction before this took place so would be approved based on the current CRL. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

My anh abs armor was a little more than cut to size and glue, but not much more...1 point

You will find that the thinners in the blade putty will react with some primer, usually when they are on thicker areas, depends on curing and weather too, hence why it's normally used as a final fill1 point

There are some pretty old threads floating around in the forums, some have been able to source from rubber specialists in the past but with most suppliers adding them to the kits these days there isn't a big demand for it, I guess Trooperbay or start searching through rubber suppliers.1 point

I ordered a case of what I that was Cardinal Red and ended up getting some purple paint. That sucks...I wasted $50 on that paint. I have new paint coming, but in the meantime, I have prepared the helmet. First i taped up the areas I did not want to paint red. This was a fun thing to do ... Once taped, I sanded down and added 2 coats of gray primer. Now just waiting on the spray paint to come in.1 point

I recommend picking up some vinyl masking ribbon and tape that is used for modeling or automotive. This should help your bleed problem and the smaller size will help in those contours. Something like this https://www.amazon.com/High-Temp-Fineline-Masking-Automotive-Curves/dp/B088D1SD49/ref=sr_1_17?dchild=1&keywords=vinyl+fine+line+tape&qid=1597781792&sr=8-17 is available in many different widths.1 point

I have some black EVA foam that is around 2/8" thick that I purchased to pad my shins. I'll try using this to bring the edge of the thighs away from the skin in that area and see if that helps. On another note, I've made progress strapping the arms and shoulders and attaching the shoulder bridges. I'll post photos of these later. I did run into a minor setback over the weekend as I sewed my belt and inserted a 2 3/4" strip of lexan plastic to help it maintain it shape. All was well and good until I used my punch to make the holes to attach the TK belt and it cracked the plastic inside. I should have known that the lexan would be brittle, even though it is very flexible. I ordered some 3" elastic from Amazon and I'm going to double that up inside as seen in @firebladejedi's tutorial. I hope to have the belt completed by Thurs and then on to basic approval. My E-11 is scheduled to arrive on 8/24, so I still have a decent chance of making it into the first 1k EIB.1 point

Hi David, Yes you can most certainly start a thread with some images and call for advice. let us know what your ultimate lvl is so the advice can be customized to that. EI or Centurion. Once you are satisfied you have made any adjustments to the level, then by all means post an application for Expert Infantry, as you must achieve this first before applying for centurion if that is your desire. During the inspection phase of your application, the Deployment officers will make any suggestions to get you looking your best, or any that might be mandatory for the CRL but hopefully those will already be addressed in your initial post that you are considering.1 point

Sorry Dan, it is in the 501st section so only full members can make comment. At it's next stage it will be moved to a more visible location for finalization before we actually make the changes. Justin, my apologies for the minor derailment of your thread sir. If anyone has questions about the CRL change please post them in that thread or PM myself so we can keep this thread on topic.1 point

I haven't pulled the liner out of mine, but I can definitely see the benefit if it's hot. They definitely aren't designed to come out. I just sprayed it with Rust-Oleum 2x flat white in the end - PlastiDip would just peel off and I didn't like the Flex-Seal as much. I didn't prime, so it might not have bonded as well to the resin. I ran out of E6000 and used Fast Hold, which usually works great (it's like half E6000, half CA) but definitely not this time. I'm just gonna try going back to E6000 and straight into the scuffed up panel. And yup, that's the stuff. Still not perfect but way better than the cheap 1" offbrand stuff I got off Amazon - it usually is just for masking off paint but doesn't do clean lines or bends well. That stuff is definitely a step up. And thanks! I'll post some more soon - it's been triple digit heat in CA this week so...1 point

I just saw it is getting a revision. I'm glad FISD is on top of it. I get the rush to get the CRL done. The Ep7 Kylo was a hot mess when it was posted before the movie so I get it. If an Admin could move my build thread that'd be great. I didn't even notice the section for the build threads. My fault 100%.1 point
