  2. Hey there, I'm near Tampa as well, Dover if you are familiar with it, next to Valrico, I am just about finished with my RS kit. I am 6' and about 210lbs. I needed a shim on the kidney plate (really easy to do, I can go help with that if needed) but height wise it's not been an issue. If you have either a disproportionate leg length or torso length then you might have issues with height. I am fairly average I think in proportions and it works out well. If you know you are a bit girthier like me then you might ask them if they have any extended kidney armor pieces so you don't have to shim them, but I don't 100% know on that. Welcome, and good luck!

  3. Side straps are gluing, Ill test the shoulder straps tomorrow once the side straps have dried. Then just the helmet is left and all it needs is paint and the fans installed.

  4. I got a piece attached!!!! Yay!!! All right, it's not a lot, but it's progress. I had no idea as to how to attach the cod to the ab, then I referred back to Tony's FOTK build thread, and voila- there was everything I needed to get me going. This 3D print isn't the same as the Anovos armor, so I had to wrap my mind around what mods I needed to make. First, I realized that I needed to make some cuts at the belt line to accommodate the cod snaps. I still haven't lost my fear of cutting this armor yet. But it went a lot faster than expected. Next, I installed the male snaps into the cod piece and verified that they would fit into the holes I just made in the ab. All good! I also drilled holes for rivets to attach the webbing inside. Installed the female snaps and webbing together. This was my first attempt on this part. I remade it later with a bit of ABS sandwiched in the snap for easier removal. Here is everything all assembled together, rivets and snaps with ABS. I was pleasantly surprised with how well this all attaches together. It looks like it'll allow for some great mobility- much more comfortable than the OTTK suit. All apart so you can see how things look... And inside view, looking down at the bottom of the ab. This is yet another reason why I'm really glad I haven't done the final paint yet! I have my sights set on rigging up Cameron's suspenders next. I had started work on them earlier, then got distracted with putting the cod together today.

  5. While I’m waiting on glue to dry, I began cutting my outer cover strips. I made sure to score and snap on the “rough side” of the cover strip to avoid the slight ridges created by the blade. This gives a clean finished side. Also made sure to sand the non-finished side so I can keep it straight which side gets glued. I have it resting here as a reference. 20mm strips with no overhang.

  14. Hey. Yeah, I am very familiar since I live in Valrico! I was just looking over your build thread and it's looking nice! Are you going for Centurion? Maybe once this whole COVID thing goes away, I'll be on my way and I can take a look at your armor. Good luck on finishing it up as well.

  15. To keep myself entertained () while I wait for the BBB to arrive, I've committed to do as much prep/busy work as I can to speed the build along. First up, how do I want to strap the armor together? I used the bracket system for my Sandy, and that was a bit of a pain, if I'm being honest. So, I decided to use a snap plate/strapping system using @justjoseph63's thread on Snap Setting as a guide: To give my armor a bit of flexibility, I'll be using 2" wide elastic (since I have it on hand), rather than the webbing in the thread above. But I won't start that part until the armor arrives and I know exactly how long to cut the elastic. In the meantime, I've made all the "plates" for the torso using 1.25” webbing (also had it on hand). First, sort all the snap parts : Then, cut the webbing, using the lighter to seal the ends from fraying. I made a cardboard template to make production a bit quicker : Finally, add the male side of the snaps : And you wind up with a bunch! Up next...fixing up my Hyperfirm E-11 and holster!

  17. As the wave doesn’t open for a few days, might be worth emailing them asking about doing a size 13. Worst they can say is “no,” which is always the answer to a question not asked.

  18. I would remove it all, Luke (as seen with the blue arrows below). Any return edge will eventually wear the paint off of your boots from friction. Sanding the edges down super smooth will help prevent that as well.

  19. Deeper into the weeds with the rotary switch tonight. I enlarged the hole a bit more inside the handle so that I could get the switch closer to the top of the opening after reviewing some more Sterling pictures from Aarons Blaster compendium. I also decided I would use some thicker ABS than I was. That decision was more based on the fact that I goofed it up and had no more that size. I am happy with what I have gotten so far. Realistically this part of the handle is all that's left to do besides wiring it all together during final assembly. I did change the wiring of several components to a 32 AWG ribbon cable so that it looks more clean when I run those wires to the Hengstler and scope but that will be a post for another day. Here are new pics of the handle and Rotary switch opening placement and the new ABS cover sheet.

  20. Glad to hear that you are not rushing your build, which often leads to mistakes...My old adage here is "consider it a marathon, and not a sprint". GREAT to know that you are aiming for Centurion , which is where your patience and attention to detail will come into play. Since AM includes all the correct hardware and such, you are way ahead of the game, so now it's just a matter of asking lots of questions when you need to (don't forget the photos) and allowing us to steer you in the right direction. Once you get started, I will be following your build thread and chiming in when asked.... BUT, that comes at a price. When you collect the Imperial candy tax in October some fun-size Butterfingers would be nice . Just kidding, but if you need specific help I am always available via PM.

  25. Yes, this section of the armor is usually challenging, great way to "attack" , I would suggest to leave it dry at least 48 hours instead of 24. Keep on doing a great work mate!!!

  27. Yay! Ledge averted. When blazing the lights and having your neighbors wondering if you are doing "burning man" in your yard, use some bug lights. You are going to be attracting a few new buddies that would love to "join" the armor. Use your box fan as well to direct them around the painting area(think of the wind deflectors above automatic doors. Put the fan so that it is blowing over the lights away from the armor, this will send the bugs downstream. I also recommend that your husband video tape because this is going to be a sight
