  1. Actually we are hosted via the same AWS package that the Legion boards are. Yes, we have our own dedicated instances, but the server administration is all owned by the LWM team. What we control locally are things like theming, forum organization/layout, etc. In the early days we (e.g. me and V'Pier) did it all - hosting, SQL backups, upgrades, etc. however since only the LWM team has access to the Legion's AWS account basic uptime, server maintenance, and upgrades are all handled by the LWM team. It's been a huge cost savings for the det, as FISD is the largest forum in the Legion aside from the Legion site proper in terms of active membership and usage. At some point the Legion's webmaster's will ask us to pay our share. As noted, usually we're able to raise the amount in 24 hours.

  2. Meanwhile... Yeah, I know it's not part of my TK build, but while I'm waiting to submit we finished my wife Sally's Imperial Line Officer and I just had to share. A.J.

  3. It's finally happening! My BBB arrived a month ago while I was away on a long work trip. Now after collecting some supplies, it's time to make room in the schedule for the TK. For that, I made great use of Joseph's supply list and a personal copy of the Google Sheets spreadsheet available in his post. A couple of extra things to know about that list though...Lexan is basically ABS/plastic, if you are to shop for these in person; and for the Testors French Blue, I went off of just the #2715, but the Model Masters (which is still Testors) may be a larger number (#2715xx). Anyway, I got my box from the renowned Troopermaster, filled with some untrimmed 1.5mm ABS. I figure I can get some extra experience with the plastic while saving a few bucks. I am and always will be (your friend...couldn't resist the Spock quote) so grateful to those who posted such detailed posts on this process. As Linus explains in his build topic, I'm looking to make an idealized TK, which is why I opted for this fan-made mold that doesn't include the bumps on the helmet, some of the asymmetries, etc. I think he will be my main reference, since his is TM, and I'm liking his train of thought. However, my TK height waiver is being processed, so I'll be making reference to Zel's build and Cricket's build for such matters, and relying on the added expertise of Ukswrath's build and FBJ's build for other general build advice. That being said, I'm not here to reinvent the wheel, so I think most of my posts here will be to 1) emphasize some of my learning points outside of the above builds and 2) ask for advice and clarification. I'll be experimenting with photo sharing. Here we go! The BBB with future Ewok (don't think she knows yet). And TM sends decals with ESB. Yay! https://photos.app.goo.gl/9XW3wr6rBXGQU47W9

  4. I did this for a promo video to support the BC Lung Associations Stair Climb for Clean air fundraiser. This is an event where participants see how long it takes to get up a 48 storey building in Vancouver. Funds are raised to help those with lung conditions, and as a tradition - firefighting teams from all around come to compete in full gear! Yves Ho TD 9815 has done this for years IN COSTUME to compete with the firefighters. And yes, he is fast in armor! I did this event last year without armor and it was tiring! Anyways, Yves challenged our garrison to see how fast we could gear up. Here's my submission, complete with distractions.

  5. Removed the tape this afternoon. Traps came out pretty good, I guess. Teeth need some cleaning up. Will buy mineral spirits tomorrow to fix them. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

  9. Trimmed some of return edges down. Still might take off lower edge to biceps more as have 5-7mm left of edge and might open it up a bit. Was going to reduce width of lower arms but now I’ve tried parts on with under suit it makes those gaps not seem as wide

  11. Hey Robert, looking good. A lot of people need to hot bath the forearms to make them fit better - for most, it is the shape near the elbow. I had to re-shape it so that the diameter from cover strip seam to cover strip seam is more (if I remember correctly). if that makes sense. Remember to wear your boots when sizing your shins. And remove all return edge, especially at the bottom - your boots with thank you. When you say your butt plate is longer - do you mean wider? It should be the same width - but it might flare out a bit and appear wider. Extra or sturdier strapping from the kidney to butt might help - I had to hot water bath the butt piece to keep it from sticking out in addition to tightening up the strapping. You might find the return edge at the top of your ab and kidney a bit uncomfortable when trooping. The amount of return edge is up to the individual, but it does tend to rub against the body or undersuit and cause issues. Keep up the great work!

  12. Unless you made these really loose, you may have a problem with them cutting into you while having your arm bent ("armor bite"). If you choose to remove the return edge as shown, I would do it before gluing, otherwise they will be too loose. As everyone here knows, I am not a fan of return edges, and not having them will not affect approval at any level. Just my 2 cents worth. Reference images (Note lack of edges on forearms, biceps and shoulder bells).

  13. Two rings become one. Unable to pull them apart, stronger together than they were individually. Appears dichloro will make a fine chemical weld for the blaster.

  15. The back piece looks like it is ending high. I believe the bottom lip should line up with the front. It looks like your bottom opening won't be a smooth oval. Check out the image galleries if you're ever in doubt:
