  1. Awesome start! Great progress so far ... don't forget to use a respirator if you do any more resin dremeling, these fine particulates wreak havoc on your lungs. Sent from my SM-G390W using Tapatalk

  2. Hi all, after a few hints here and there I doubled my efforts to please the emperor and here it finally is: my first build thread. It will be based on the following components: - DoopyDoo's resin kit - the famous E11 completion kit from Tino (a.k.a. T-jay) - M38 1942 resin replica scope from Bulldog Props Japan (a.k.a. Brian) - BlastFX + mini scope electronics from TRamp (you can find him on Facebook) - 3D printed parts from Shadow Defence Systems on Shapeways Let's start with a picture of test fitting the scope rail, made from an aluminum strip: 20181202_191234 (Note that it still shows the original DoopyDoo's scope) This was to make sure that I didn't require the scope rail option for the completion kit. Speaking of which: 20181208_154125 And on the same day the scope kit arrived: Untitled 20181208_102248 First work on the resin kit included washing in hot soap water, and then on to some drilling and dremeling to install the mods from Tino's completion kit: 20181210_220647 (Note the green stuff in the first hole of the folded stock, which was a repair due to a drilling mishap ) Started easy with these mods: 20181209_191721 Then I went on to drill the additional row of holes in the main blaster pipe: 20181209_202712 And when the repair on the folded stock had dried I continued the drilling and gutting: 20181212_215904 Let it snow let it snow... 20181213_200426 Well, that's about it for now... Cheers!

  4. What Daniel said. Normally a good gauge of spacing is a finger width or so. Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk

  5. Yes, most of the time you´ll be standing with a blaster like the guys above but is only a good thing to be able to put on/take off the helmet on your own

  6. The Movie troopers have slim bicep pieces so keep them tight but still beeing able to remove the helmet, and as I said earlier, with both biceps and forearms. The bicep should be able to move up and down as you move your arm.

  8. Thank very much guys. I appreciate the help. As it's for a Christmas present I might get him the tins of spray paint to start him off and let him figure out where to go from there. I just wanted to get him the basics to start him off. Thanks for your help.

  10. That should work for you. Just keep the openings up near the top of pack so you dont put pressure on your shoulder straps to much. I'd recommend a strap connection in between the two that holds them together. Mine is hidden behind my chest plate. I click in and a wrangler pulls slack till snug. Pack goes no where. Nice and tight. You are so close now! Can't wait to see your pre approval photo's

  12. Yeah I initially tried isopropyl and it did nothing so I ended up using mineral spirits. Sent from my 5054N using Tapatalk

  13. I also like to use mineral spirits before anything else, it’s a little more forgiving than other cleaners, but in the end what ever works for you

  17. Hi Patrick, glad to see your announced build thread. You already made some good progress. The scope rail turned out well. Looks like you made the 90° upwards bend on the rear end. In the above photo (maybe it is just the angle), it seems like the M38 scope sits a bit close to the rear sight. A quote from the FISD E-11 BLASTER REFERENCE: "The rear foot of the scope should be aligned with the folding stock pivot." Maybe you can still adjust this.

  18. Here are a couple of pics of a kit I build last year. As it shows, I'm quite fond of wear and tear. The E-11 will however be much more subtle.

  19. Your build approach with so many differing elements really speaks of your design background. I too have opted for the slow and steady build approach, although at times, it does feel like I'm stuck in third year with no sight of graduation, if you catch my drift. May you focus all the more on your build targets and get things done in stages. Cheers! Sent from my SM-G390W using Tapatalk

  20. Not much time left tonight, so only a minor update. Removed the edge on the back side of the rotary selection switch such that it requires less gutting of the grip. Thanks for the tip T-jay! Before: 20181213_235748 After: 20181213_235245 This saves a few mm....

  21. Small update. This will be a slooow build. As I'm also finishing a Masters in Industrial Design. Besides the steel pipe, which still need at lot of work, and a lot more holes. I have ordered the following: A DD resin kit. https://www.doopydoos.com/stormtrooper-e-11-pipe-blaster-base-detailing-kit-2068-p.asp Wannawanga T-tracks https://wannawanga.com/products/t-track/ More small finishing parts from T-Jay https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/28444-fs-completion-sets-for-e-11-resin-kits-with-worldwide-tracked-shipping-and-paypal/ A whole heap of electronics from eBay. Waaay toooo many links to list. I have made 3d files of the Hengstler Counter and teh M38 scope, and will soon be printing these. I have chosen this option to make them hollow. The Hengstler to be able to install speakers and electronics inside. The scope to make light pass through, and give a better effect of it being an actual scope. But all of these are still in transit. The build will pick up some speed i the beginning of next year

  22. Dec 2018 Troopers, it's been brought to my attention that Locitus' name has not been brought forth yet on this thread, yet he is a recipient nonetheless. This is entirely an oversight on previous administrations, which may and truly have been one of my own! Either way, we should ensure that the reasons are posted transparently so that the integrity of the award is beyond doubt. Mathias (Locitus) has been on staff many years as you can see from his staff award badge, including being a former DL. However there have been years where this is not the case, and Mathias has many times over not only been a tremendous help and resource for new members, but has been one of the key players in keeping our forums up to date, recovering them when an upgrade has proven unstable, and put in many hours resolving technical issues that otherwise would bedevil this detachment that few outside of the command and site admin team will ever know. He is truly an FISD legend and clearly deserving of this merit.

  23. He’s fine as long as he does do a full ‘dress rehearsal’ before doing any cutting by that I mean undersuit, gloves, boots, etc.
