  4. Well....I blame Greg @wook1138 for having "bad influence" as this is a build intended for MEPD - Mos Eisly Police Department and the fact that I couldn`t resist wanting to show my friends here what I picked up this morning And seeing as Greg did the breakdown of differences between a TK and a TD I´ll just fire away BBB-day #4(never stops giving me "the Little boy at christmas feeling" Had a hard time deciding which Kit to get but couldn`t resist the lineage that RS has so RS it is...if someone had trouble in figure that out And...also think it lends itself perfectly for a Sandtrooper build and the helmet in particular with the little bumps and lumps. And here it is in all of it`s glory and I´m super-happy except for one thing, I´m missing the little RS labels on the peices that I have seen on other builds..oh well....after showering the pieces to get rid of the debri of plastic crumbs I marked the parts with a sharpie just so I don`t get confused when sitting in glue fumes nothing to it when you already did a few builds but for a beginner it would be a good thing ta have the parts labeled and on the other hand the detective work in finding out is good research to have to The SWAT level (L3) is a bit different as you emulate a specific Trooper and I´m shooting for this guy: the weathering is the challengeing part to get right...I´m liking the fact that he has different amount of teeth cut out on each side and that little "fire-mark" on the forehead - should be fun And here`s the breakdown for the "desert version" (the Sandtroopers switch gear constantly between scenes so it`s quite hard to keep up and that`s why there`s more than one version of Sergeant, Captain and Private (based on Pauldron). Obviously I like this one the best so here goes!

  9. Thats exactly the same thread I read and saw that statement about the tabs. I'm leaning towards cutting the large tab off but I want to wait and see how/where to cut once I am wearing it.

  10. thanks for the input folks. Based on what I can tell, the thighs maybe sitting just a tad low, but the shins were way too long for my shorter legs. From what I've read thus far, trimming the top of the thighs, and hence, the return edge was more of a last resort than a first step. As my knees make it past the bottom of the piece, I figured that the adjustment should come from the shins. I looked at how the shins fit on my calves and see that the top of the armor is at or above my knee cap....placing the TD sniper plate over that would put the plate in and around the bottom of my quad. I slowly started trimming the shins to drop this level down and hence position the plate where it should be.....as well as give myself better mobility. In the end I trimmed about a hair over 2" from the bottom of the shins. I think this will work. I will post pics soon to show how everything lines up.

  11. You are bang on with the front placement (large tab and 4 small ones). Nice. As Luc pointed out, there was a recent debate regarding the back tab and the CRL has been updated to reflect this. In short, you can cut off the back large tab if you want. My two cents: if Walt's back tab is as large as the front tab, I would cut it off if you don't need the extra material. There are medium sized tabs on the back of the Hero suits and possibly some Stunt suits, so medium tabs are ok. Otherwise most of the screen shots I've seen show the Stunt having no large (or even medium) tabs at the back. The build is coming along nicely. Good work!

  15. If it's typically unseen we usually wouldn't mention it. If we did then everyone would be required to show it.

  16. I'm glad to help! I have to use my sewing machine to make the clips tighter. I first did them by hand, and am not as satisfied with the strength they could have.

  20. But first, there was the really annoying aspect of super long screws that came with the helmets impaling themselves in your head when you try to put on the helmet. Do I replace or cut them down. Tim said cut them down so... Note: Remove screw from helmet first or you risk melting the ABS! and then file a bit Reinstall and much more comfortable. Note: these are the above mentioned scorch marks form removing the rivets.

  21. So a little mineral spirits and a toothpick and I carefully cleaned up the edges. They still have the hand=painted effect but aren't a mess of seepage. and the outsides are done... for now. I will need to pick one for the TK and add stripes in traps and tears. The other one stays plain for sandie.

  25. E-11 Blaster (promo) Based on a real or replica Sterling sub-machine gun, scratch-built, or a modified commercial toy Stormtrooper blaster. OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): Folding stock (does not need to function). No ammo counter shall be present. Correct style scope. No power cylinders on the magazine housing. Scratch-built or cast blasters shall have a total of 6 T-tracks on blaster (leaving the lowest row on the magazine housing side uncovered). If using the Hasbro E11 toy blaster, it is modified to have the correct number of T-tracks (6 total), with a lower row of open vent holes on the magazine housing side. This is accomplished by covering the pre-existing rows of holes with T-tracks, then grinding off the lower integrated T-track on the magazine housing side, and drilling a new row of holes in its place. Two greeblies on the left rear area. Three studs on the right rear area. Add two scope block greeblies. Remove front bayonet muzzle disk. Remove magazine housing parts. Remove D-Ring mount. Swoosh trim on right side above the pistol grip.

  29. Set backs are bound to happen. I had a huge issue with my thighs and had to use lots and lots of bondo to get things up to spec. Hang in there. You got a bunch of troopers behind you cheering you on.

  30. I am going to use a Lithium Poly rechargable battery that is perfectly sized and light weight, but needs special charging. So I designed a charging port in the end cap with a thread on D Ring:

  32. I don't think any level of weathering can add the detail necessary for the R1 style of cover strips. The CRL is in work so unless more people agree that it should be required at a higher level than basic then it looks like it's gonna be mandatory for approval.
