  1. Hi all, Thought I’d do a little summary now that the build is done (barring any little tweaks). Let’s start with tools. With the exception of the obvious, like screwdrivers, drill, sandpaper etc, this is a selection of the primary tools I used. Firstly, and most importantly - a good respiratory mask. Mine is now filthy after spray painting. Dremel with flexible shaft. A selection of files. Dremel attachment - these were my most used attachment. Spade bits (for the scope) Sculpting tools for any work with greenstuff. SUPER TIP - (courtesy of Tino) - keep tools and fingers wet whilst working with greenstuff. :-) And here’s a summary of the paints, and quantities, that I used. 2 x 150ml Humbrol Grey Primer 1 1 x 150ml Humbrol Brass 54 2 x 150ml Humbrol (metallic) Silver 11 2 x 150ml Humbrol Matt Black 33 1 x 400ml Citadel Matt Black x 1 (still some left) 1 x 400ml Hammerite Hammered Black (still some left) 1 x 400ml Hycote Gloss Black (still some left) It’s been a thoroughly enjoyable build. Thankfully, there are not many things that I’d do differently if I did it over. Although, I’m still considering an upgraded Hengstler at some point. Anyway, that’s it from me for now. Thanks for reading. :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  2. Apologies for taking so long to get these done -- been wanting to get back to DHS for quite some months. I haven't changed the contrast or exposure on these for fear of altering the color balance. As shot, the colors are pretty accurate to what I saw with my naked Eye. I will bump the exposure a bit in a second set to bring some details out of the shadows. Grateful for the opportunity to serve private gallery of images - Shoretrooper - November 2017

  3. You are welcome mate. Not long at all mate. I’ve been reading your E-11 build thread, it’s amazing, it’s something I am sort of thinking about but I don’t have a respirator and am bothered about all that resin dust .... plus she who must be obeyed would kill me in a way that would make Lord Vader proud if I was to use the dyson in the garage..... I value my life and want to live long enough to troop .... lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  4. By combining all previous scripts I created my main script. As I didn't want a static display I added some animation to it. This animation is a simply display of lines and rectangles. Herefore I used the functions "oled.line" and "oled.rect". After adding these lines to the code. The function "oled.display()" needs to be called to show all additions to the screen. As adding bitmaps to the screen isn't supported by the driver I customised one of the default fonts to be able to print Aurebesh characters. Therefore I created a font of 6x5 pixels and added it to the driver. The fonts are based on an array which contains an index of the content of the array. After this index, all lines of the characters are defined. See below. // Aurebesh 6x5 font static const unsigned char font6x5[] PROGMEM = { // first row defines - FONTWIDTH, FONTHEIGHT, ASCII START CHAR, TOTAL CHARACTERS, FONT MAP WIDTH HIGH, FONT MAP WIDTH LOW (2,56 meaning 256) 6,6,65,26,1,56, 0x1B, 0x0A, 0x0A, 0x1B, 0x11, 0x11, 0x0A, 0x11, 0x15, 0x15, 0x11, 0x0A, 0x07, 0x00, 0x04, 0x00, 0x1C, 0x00, 0x00, 0x15, 0x0D, 0x07, 0x03, 0x00, 0x06, 0x08, 0x10, 0x08, 0x06, 0x1F, 0x1C, 0x14, 0x1F, 0x14, 0x16, 0x12, 0x1F, 0x10, 0x11, 0x19, 0x07, 0x01, 0x11, 0x15, 0x15, 0x15, 0x15, 0x11, 0x00, 0x00, 0x02, 0x1F, 0x00, 0x00, 0x14, 0x14, 0x12, 0x0E, 0x03, 0x00, 0x11, 0x11, 0x11, 0x11, 0x11, 0x1F, 0x00, 0x04, 0x08, 0x08, 0x1F, 0x00, 0x00, 0x18, 0x16, 0x11, 0x11, 0x00, 0x0E, 0x11, 0x0C, 0x03, 0x0C, 0x10, 0x08, 0x16, 0x11, 0x11, 0x16, 0x08, 0x0E, 0x11, 0x11, 0x10, 0x1F, 0x00, 0x1F, 0x11, 0x11, 0x01, 0x01, 0x07, 0x00, 0x11, 0x0D, 0x07, 0x03, 0x00, 0x09, 0x1A, 0x14, 0x08, 0x10, 0x1F, 0x08, 0x10, 0x1F, 0x10, 0x08, 0x00, 0x1F, 0x10, 0x10, 0x12, 0x11, 0x1F, 0x01, 0x02, 0x1C, 0x02, 0x01, 0x00, 0x1F, 0x11, 0x11, 0x11, 0x11, 0x1F, 0x08, 0x16, 0x11, 0x16, 0x08, 0x00, 0x03, 0x0D, 0x10, 0x0C, 0x03, 0x00, 0x18, 0x14, 0x12, 0x12, 0x12, 0x1F }; #endif // FONT6X5_H This way I can use the function "oled.print" to display Aurebesh Characters. oled.setFontType(1); // Set font to type 1 (My Aurebesh font :-)) oled.setCursor(10, 23); // Location where to start printing oled.print("LOCKED"); // Write the text How cool is that The complete font looks like :

  7. Thanks for posting your build steps in such a detailed manner. This will surely encourage and help other people here to successfully complete their own builds and get more out of these resin kits, than just gluing and spray-painting them.

  8. Thanks guys. I see the flaws which I know aren’t huge and I’m trying to fix them. I do look back at the times my family and I have seen everyone at shows and conventions and I can’t recall anyone’s armor being flawed but again I was not looking just too interested in joining. Seeing the flaws in the movie screen shots helps as well. Definitely finishing this path I started and hopefully it passes right away, can’t wait to troop.

  9. Club designation and in-universe usage are separate things, as Paul said. As far as in-universe reasoning goes, the preponderance of material indicated the prefix is an indicator of posting. The troops boarding the Tantive IV in ANH have a DV prefix for the ship they're posted to -- Devastator. The pilots flanking Vader in repelling the Rebel fighters' runs on the exhaust port had DS prefixes, for Death Star. TK-421 is likely part of Tarkin's personal garrison, brought with him when he transferred his flag to the station. And in TFA, the FN prefix indicates troopers assigned to the Finalizer. I would go so far as to assert the other prefixes in that film and in the Phasma novel are an indicator of other garrison/shipboard postings those trainees are intended for. I like the idea that there's another Resurgent-class star destroyer named Tarkin out there in First Order space, and that's where those couple TK troopers were deployed from. Not sure if the Starkiller had its own garrison yet, or if those mustered troops were down from the Finalizer (Phasma was up there on the podium, after all). But one's Legion ID number has nothing to do with any of this -- unless one feels like being creative.

  10. Dear Troopers, fellows Many have asked us if we would do a gasket for the FO trooper especially since we started producing our own blend of fabric for the R1 death trooper. We've been playing around in the workshop and came up with an elegant solution using our home made technology to create this gasket fabric... the question is how many troopers are in need of the FN gasket.

  21. I got a bit file happy while doing the teeth and did too many. I accidentally filed out the small hole which I think is supposed to stay in tact. Is this area supposed to be white or gray? I’m thinking I can back fill it with some putty and paint it. Just wondering what color is needs to be. Thanks in advance. I feel like I need to take everyone out for a beer when I get this whole thing done.

  22. I did order from Gio however I haven't received anything about boots since I ordered them. I'm also going to contact KB about the boot armor again. This past weekend was extremely productive and I hope to continue this throughout my build. I started on the forearms. I cut out the top parts of the forearms with no problem. I cut wrong already on the weird forearm connection pieces, however I was able to glue it back together. I'm going to check the other build threads on here to see if anybody was able to get them cut/glued properly. I moved on in the meantime to the handplates. I also decided that as I finish pieces I'm going to paint them instead of trying to paint a large amount at once. Quality control issues have made me wary of painting in the first place. Here are the painted Hand plates! I need to add velcro and paint in the black details but other than that they are ready to go! Up next were the shoulder bells! Here are the trimmed shoulder bells. I have to glue these two parts together and the shoulder bells will be ready for painting. Final part I was able to work on this weekend was the biceps. I was able to trim a lot of the extra plastic off and still have it fit better than my ANH biceps. While I figure out the forearms I need to move ahead to my next part. I might work my way from the chest/back down. If you notice anything or have any helpful tips they are always welcome!

Hopefully this works] http://vimeo.com/232666628 The numbers in the under left corner are debugging number which I used to verify the functionality of the swith, MP3-player and trigger. In the final version I deleted this debug-code.

  30. Yep, I fully agree to Dan's suggestion. Spade bits are the best choice for this type of drilling work. Just make sure you grab a set with a 25mm spade bit, as that will be required if you are planning to install the big end from the monocular into your scope (like you can see here).

  39. If the R1TK is supposed to be a functional representation, I would loose the subtle swoop in the on the eye for L 3. I don’t really see it and I’m not convinced it’s on every helmet and the control images don’t show it. if the Rogue One TK is more representative of the idealized Stormtrooper I would think the helmet would be symmetrical. just my 2 cents.

  41. New day, new progress: replaced more resin screws with real ones, mainly to get them out of the way as I am pretty scared of losing them. For the rest of the day I am gonna do some work on the trigger mod (I am going for the average nail & ballpoint pen spring mod) because for some reason I just really want to attach the grip to the tube. I feel like that step is going to make the kit look a lot more like a blaster

  42. The last part of electronics that I used is a 0.66"OLED-display. There are two versions in the marktet : I2C or SPI-protocol. The I2C-protocol uses 4 pins as the SPI-protocol requires 7 pins. As there will be a lot of wiring in my project I used the I2C-protocol. This protocol uses the SCL /SDA pins. On the Arduino pro mini these pins are not located at the outside of the board, but near mean processor : See http://pighixxx.com/prominiv3_0.pdf These pins are also knowns as A4 and A5. Besides the SCL/SDA-pins the OLED-display requires a 5V and ground-signal. Until now all the programming of the Arduino is done without any additional libraries. Fot the OLED-display however a driver is required. As mentioned before this driver can be found at https://github.com/sparkfun/Micro_OLED_Breakout/tree/V_1.0/Libraries/Arduino. To incorporate this driver into the project <wire.h> and <SFE_MicroOLED.h> needs to be included. #include <Wire.h> // Include Wire if you're using I2C #include <SFE_MicroOLED.h> // Include the SFE_MicroOLED library #define DC_JUMPER 0 #define PIN_RESET 13 // Set reset pin to pin 13 (Not connected to OLED (so useless, but needs to be defined) and only pin that it not used MicroOLED oled(PIN_RESET, DC_JUMPER); // I2C declaration The script above defines an object called "oled". This object controls the OLED-display. As the OLED-driver requires a reset-pin, this needs to be defined. There is however no direct connection to the display, but it is still required. As I used all pins for I/O on the Arduino Pro mini the only Pin left is Pin13 (onboard LED). So I defined this pin as reset pin. One this to remember is that the refreshment rate of the OLED is quite low and uses a lot of processing time. This means when the OLED is being refreshed all functions of the Arduino will be on hold. Below is a test-script which will display a bitmap on the OLED-screen. #include <wire.h> #include <SFE_MicroOLED.h> // Include the SFE_MicroOLED library #define PIN_RESET 13 // Connect RST to pin 13 #define DC_JUMPER 0 MicroOLED oled(PIN_RESET, DC_JUMPER); // Example I2C declaration uint8_t testBitmap [] = { 0x00, 0x38, 0x7C, 0x44, 0x44, 0x44, 0x44, 0x44, 0x44, 0x44, 0x44, 0x7C, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x80, 0x40, 0x20, 0x20, 0x10, 0x08, 0x08, 0x04, 0x04, 0x04, 0x02, 0x02, 0x02, 0x82, 0x82, 0x92, 0xFE, 0x92, 0x82, 0x82, 0x02, 0x02, 0x02, 0x04, 0x04, 0x04, 0x08, 0x08, 0x10, 0x30, 0x20, 0x40, 0x80, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x02, 0x02, 0x02, 0x02, 0xFE, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x88, 0x68, 0x38, 0x18, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x80, 0x60, 0x18, 0x0C, 0x02, 0x01, 0x01, 0x02, 0x04, 0x08, 0x10, 0x20, 0x40, 0x80, 0x00, 0x80, 0x40, 0x40, 0x20, 0x20, 0x10, 0x14, 0xFF, 0x14, 0x10, 0x20, 0x20, 0x20, 0x40, 0x80, 0x00, 0x80, 0x40, 0x20, 0x10, 0x08, 0x04, 0x02, 0x01, 0x01, 0x02, 0x0C, 0x18, 0x60, 0x80, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0xFF, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x36, 0x94, 0x14, 0xB6, 0x22, 0x22, 0x00, 0xFC, 0x03, 0x80, 0x00, 0x00, 0xE0, 0x00, 0x00, 0x80, 0x00, 0x00, 0xC0, 0x38, 0x04, 0x02, 0x01, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x80, 0x40, 0x20, 0x3F, 0x20, 0x40, 0x80, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x01, 0x02, 0x04, 0x38, 0xC0, 0x00, 0x00, 0x80, 0x00, 0x00, 0xE0, 0x00, 0x00, 0x80, 0x03, 0xFC, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0xFF, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0xE7, 0x0C, 0x27, 0x21, 0xE7, 0x2C, 0x00, 0x7F, 0x81, 0x03, 0x01, 0x01, 0x0F, 0x01, 0x01, 0x03, 0x01, 0x01, 0x07, 0x39, 0x41, 0x81, 0x01, 0x01, 0x01, 0x01, 0x01, 0x03, 0x04, 0x08, 0xF9, 0x08, 0x04, 0x03, 0x01, 0x01, 0x01, 0x01, 0x01, 0x81, 0x41, 0x39, 0x07, 0x01, 0x01, 0x03, 0x01, 0x01, 0x0F, 0x01, 0x01, 0x03, 0x81, 0x7F, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x01, 0x01, 0x01, 0xFF, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x1B, 0x22, 0x42, 0x23, 0x18, 0x7C, 0x00, 0x00, 0x03, 0x0C, 0x30, 0x60, 0x80, 0x00, 0x00, 0x80, 0x40, 0x20, 0x10, 0x08, 0x04, 0x03, 0x02, 0x02, 0x04, 0x08, 0x08, 0x08, 0x10, 0x90, 0xFF, 0x90, 0x10, 0x08, 0x08, 0x08, 0x04, 0x02, 0x02, 0x03, 0x04, 0x08, 0x10, 0x20, 0x40, 0x80, 0x00, 0x00, 0x80, 0x40, 0x30, 0x0C, 0x03, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0xFF, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x01, 0x03, 0x04, 0x08, 0x18, 0x10, 0x20, 0x20, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x80, 0x80, 0x80, 0x84, 0x84, 0x24, 0xFF, 0x24, 0x84, 0x84, 0x80, 0x80, 0x80, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x20, 0x20, 0x10, 0x10, 0x08, 0x04, 0x03, 0x03, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x40, 0x7F, 0x00 }; void setup() { // Before you can start using the OLED, call begin() to init // all of the pins and configure the OLED. oled.begin(); // clear(ALL) will clear out the OLED's graphic memory. // clear(PAGE) will clear the Arduino's display buffer. oled.clear(ALL); // Clear the display's memory (gets rid of artifacts) // To actually draw anything on the display, you must call the // display() function. oled.display(); delay(2000);//pause for the splash screen oled.clear(PAGE);//clear the screen before we draw our image oled.drawBitmap(testBitmap);//call the drawBitmap function and pass it the array from above oled.display();//display the imgae } void loop() { } The driver I used is made by SparkFun. So when the OLED is being booted, the SparkFun-logo will appear. As I make an imperial blaster I wanted it to boot with the imperial logo instead. So I modified the maincode of the driver. Looking at the SFE_MicroOLED.cpp file, there is a local variable called "screenmemory []". This variable contains a array which contains the default boot logo. Using some paintprogramma I created a 64x48 bitmap containing a Black/White image of the imperial logo. On the internet is a program called "LCD Assistant" which converts a bitmap into c-code. It can be found at http://en.radzio.dxp.pl/bitmap_converter/ Using this program my bitmap was converted to a small cpp-script which contains the declaration of a array the same size a "screenmemory[]" in the OLED-driver. By simply replacing the content of the variable the bootlogo became Imperial static uint8_t screenmemory [] = { 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x80, 0xC0, 0xE0, 0xE0, 0x70, 0x78, 0x38, 0x1C, 0x1C, 0x1C, 0x0C, 0xCE, 0xEE, 0xEE, 0xFE, 0xFE, 0xFE, 0xFE, 0xEE, 0xEE, 0xCE, 0x4C, 0x1C, 0x1C, 0x38, 0x38, 0x78, 0x70, 0xE0, 0xE0, 0xC0, 0x80, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0xE0, 0xF0, 0xFC, 0xFE, 0xFF, 0xF7, 0xF3, 0xF9, 0xFC, 0xF8, 0x78, 0xFC, 0xFC, 0xFE, 0xFE, 0xFF, 0xFF, 0xFF, 0xFF, 0x83, 0x03, 0x03, 0x03, 0xF7, 0xFF, 0xFF, 0xFF, 0xFE, 0xFE, 0xFC, 0xFC, 0x78, 0xF8, 0xF8, 0xF9, 0xF3, 0xF7, 0xFF, 0xFE, 0xFC, 0xF0, 0xE0, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0xF8, 0xFF, 0xFF, 0x07, 0x00, 0x0F, 0xCF, 0xFF, 0xFF, 0xFF, 0xFB, 0xF0, 0xF0, 0xF0, 0xE0, 0xE1, 0x03, 0x07, 0x03, 0x01, 0x01, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x01, 0x01, 0x03, 0x07, 0x03, 0xE3, 0xE1, 0xE0, 0xF0, 0xF0, 0xF3, 0xFF, 0xFF, 0xFF, 0xDF, 0x0F, 0x00, 0x07, 0xFF, 0xFF, 0xF8, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x1F, 0xFF, 0xFF, 0xE0, 0x00, 0xF0, 0xFB, 0xFF, 0xFF, 0xFF, 0xCF, 0x0F, 0x0F, 0x07, 0x87, 0xC3, 0xE0, 0xE0, 0xC0, 0x80, 0x80, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x80, 0x80, 0xC0, 0xC0, 0xE0, 0xC0, 0x87, 0x87, 0x07, 0x0F, 0x0F, 0xDF, 0xFF, 0xFF, 0xFF, 0xF1, 0xF0, 0x00, 0xE0, 0xFF, 0xFF, 0x1F, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x07, 0x0F, 0x3F, 0x7F, 0xFF, 0xE7, 0xCF, 0x9F, 0x1F, 0x0F, 0x1E, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x7F, 0x7F, 0xFF, 0xFF, 0xFF, 0xEF, 0xC0, 0xC0, 0xC0, 0xC1, 0xFF, 0xFF, 0xFF, 0xFF, 0x7F, 0x7F, 0x3F, 0x3F, 0x1E, 0x1F, 0x3F, 0x9F, 0xCF, 0xE7, 0xFF, 0x7F, 0x3F, 0x0F, 0x03, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x01, 0x03, 0x07, 0x07, 0x0E, 0x1E, 0x1C, 0x3C, 0x38, 0x38, 0x72, 0x73, 0x73, 0x77, 0x7F, 0x7F, 0x7F, 0x7F, 0x77, 0x73, 0x73, 0x78, 0x38, 0x38, 0x3C, 0x1C, 0x1E, 0x0E, 0x07, 0x07, 0x03, 0x01, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00}; As the display of the OLED-display is Black/White and the scope should be Red/Black I used a filter to change the colors. When my son was not looking I took his old 3D-glasses and unmounted the red-foil. The display looks a lot cooler when this cheap filter is applied. NB : The image shown on the display is also a customised bitmap.

  44. Found out a few hours ago that once you get started and hyped for the blaster, it's really hard to stop Since I am working according to the Blaster Reference my first job was to drill the extra holes into the receiver tube. Aferwards I carried on with replacing the resin screws with real screws; the two in the grip as well as the two by the muzzle. For tomorrow I'm probably gonna start working on the trigger mod, so I'll have a look through my tools and will hopefully find a fitting nail. Also I might attach the grip to the tube, but I'm not really sure about the best and easiest way to achieve that, so if anyone has been there (and I know you have ), please don't hesitate to hit me up! P.S.: Is there any clever way to overcome the 71,68 KB size limit for pictures?

In From the DL From the New XO New CRL Challenge Coins Hall of Fame Obscure Trivia Just For Laughs In The Media Competitions Trooping Battlefront II & The Last Jedi Notable Troops Imperial Attaché Program Advanced Tactics Awards EIB - The March To 1000 Merchandise Public Relations Follow FISD For us Americans, November is the month of Thanksgiving. I would like to give my thanks to everyone who has worked so hard to make 2017 a phenomenal year for FISD. The staff in particular has been going full tilt. From the massive Celebration push that resulted in our largest merchandise runs ever, getting 4 brand new CRL’s 100% complete (and by the time you read this, the FOTK’s will have L2/L3 as well), dozens of dozens of new EI & Centurions, plus one of the more drama free years for the forums, increased Facebook coverage and even the newsletter that you are reading now. It’s all possible thanks to the tireless efforts of our staff. The attaches too have been very active in keeping the membership appraised of everything that is going on. We thank them for their service as well. Above and beyond all that, I’m thankful for the friendships that FISD and the Legion have created and forged, some going back a decade or more. I am very thankful to be part of a Legion of people united by their love of Star Wars to bring joy to so many people. That, and my armor. And my blaster. Because the only thing better than hanging out with friends, is hanging out with friends in white armor, right? What are you thankful for? Sound off and let share your thoughts. With Unquestioned Loyalty Paul Hoeffer TK8020 “Daetrin” FISD Detachment Leader Greetings fellow Troopers Fist, I would like to thank Tim for his hard work and dedication as a Detatchement Leader and as an Detatchment XO. Secondly, I would like to thank Paul for the trust to be his XO. When I heard that Tim had to stepped down, Paul asked if we had any candidate in mind. I messaged Paul and raised my hand. Why? Because I love the FISD. I come here and I feel at home. I don’t want to do this for glory or to tell people: Hey, I’m the XO. I do it for the love of these costumes. A little about me. In the real world, I’m a production manager in aeronautical lifting equipment company. I joined the Legion in 2013. Currently, I have five 501st approved costume and one Rebel Legion costume. In 2015, Eric Brager has asked me to come on board as a Deputy Provost Marshall. This year, Paul had promoted me as a full Provost Marshall. At the same time, I became an LCOG, which do take some of my free time. Now, currently FISD XO. I’m always open and ready to talk. Feel free to message me. With Unquestioned Loyalty Eric Salottolo TK37427 “Tolo” FISD Executive Officer Rebels - R Sometimes it just takes one person on with the drive to get something to done. TK-11281, Eric Meyer, who is also the current DL of CTN, worked hard to get the details on his Rebel TK correct, and was instrumental not only in being the CRL model (quite the claim to fame), but also did a all the photoshopping of the parts and was the a key contributor to the CRL text. Talk about trailblazing! Without the diligence, persistence, and true grit, this costume would still be sitting in draft form. I would like to personally thank all of you who helped get this CRL across the finish line. Congratulations on becoming the first approved and CRL model Eric TK11281. With Unquestioned Loyalty Paul Hoeffer TK8020 “Daetrin” FISD Detachment Leader Do You Know The Rules? Many of us collect challenge coins but do you know the rules of engagement? Don't get caught This past month has been filled with some absolutely phenomenal troop reports! If you haven’t done so already, I highly encourage everyone to check out the epic experiences had by all - Bricktober, The Last Jedi Trailer at Half-time, Run for the Cure, Micheal Giacchino's 50th Birthday, Libracon, Naha Parade, and so many more. This month, I would like to recognize a photo that speaks volumes. Honoring TK - 91488 Preston “All I can really say is that I feel privileged to be part of this organization.” With Unquestioned Loyalty Aaron Gibson TK99725 "Pyrates" Imperial Propaganda Department A new monthly item that lists a few unusual facts about the SW franchise. This month: "ANH Stormtroopers" The local actors hired to play Sandies in the ANH scene where they are investigating the escape pod were paid a whopping 8,500 Tunisian Dinars. (about $6.50). When you hear the "clunking" sound of blasters being cocked, it is actually the sound of a parking meter handle being turned. The sound of the E-11s was made by using a hammer to strike the "guy wire" of a radio antenna. Luke's line (as a TK) "I can't see a thing in this helmet" was not scripted. He said it to Harrison Ford when he thought the cameras had stopped rolling, and it was left in the film. (Welcome to OUR world, you whiny Rebel). In the opening scene, this is the only time in the Saga where a TK uses an Imperial Blaster in the "stun" mode. The Last Jedi Trailer II Members of the 501st Midwest, Great Lakes, Southern California and Wisconsin Garrison's as well as Disney actors walked out on to the field during halftime of the NFL football game between the Chicago Bears and the Minnesota Vikings in Chicago last month. Fireworks flashed while the Stormtroopers marched onto the field as the new trailer to Star Wars The Last Jedi played onscreen. At the request of Disney/LFL we can't show you their faces or tell you their names but well done all involved you know who you are. NYCC Star Wars Experience Star Wars: The Last Jedi is almost here, and Lucasfilm is going full blast with the marketing for the second movie in the sequel trilogy. The Star Wars booth at the NYCC has this amazing gimmick where they lockdown the booth full of visitors then they get raided by First Order Stormtroopers. Check it out: TIME TO VOTE!!!! The competition is now closed, but you will be able to choose the design you like best on this thread: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/43345-we-need-your-vote/ The winner will receive a free patch of their winning design and 501st car decal along with some other cool swag, but most importantly, bragging rights! It is still amazing how many talented members we have here, thank you to all of you who participated. Trooping Battlefront II & The Last Jedi For those that are unaware the 501st has been given approval by Disney/LFL to organise troops for both the premier of The Last Jedi and also the release of Battlefront II. There are a couple of rules, as always please make sure the host of the event does not advertise your appearance, BUT you are welcome to advertise on your own / garrison / squad's social media. Also for The Last Jedi you can only visit cinemas, no other retail locations. Official correspondence from Disney/LFL · November 17-19: Battlefront II Launch · December 14-21: The Last Jedi Theatrical Events Hi all, We wanted to send the club leads some advance notice of two events that will be open to costumed appearances by fans without prior approval from Disney or Lucasfilm – the Battlefront II launch, spanning the weekend of November 17-19 (give or take a day or two) and the release of The Last Jedi, during the week of December 14-21. For the Battlefront II launch, we’re asking that the appearances be limited to those retailers who are selling Battlefront II and that costumed appearances not be used in the advertising for the event. Costumed fans who wish to participate at special events surrounding the launch of The Last Jedi between December 14-21, 2017 may do so at accommodating theaters without seeking approval from Disney/Lucasfilm. Like the BFII launch, we are asking that costumed appearances not be used in the advertising for the event. We are leaving it to the individual fans and fan groups to independently organize around these events as they see fit, so if you or your group will require a special area for changing in/out of costume, etc., please reach out to the theater management/staff to make those arrangements. PLEASE NOTE that costumed appearances for The Last Jedi premieres are restricted to theatrical venues only and do not include general retailers, toy stores, restaurants, etc. We want to thank all our fans for their continued support of Star Wars and look forward to celebrating more exciting movie releases with you in the years to come! *NOTE* Always follow your garrison/squad's guidelines when in comes to organising Disney/LFL promotional troops. Want Your Troop to be Included? Post your troop report in the Field Training Exercises section here Those with troop logs please post a separate troop report as it is easier to link too. Are you an approved TK that spends more time on the boards than the average Trooper? Do you enjoy using your knowledge to help out future and existing Troopers? If so, we would like to invite you to join the Imperial Attache program! Members of the I.A. team are chosen to help out not only those here on the boards, but on a local level as well. Our aim is to have at least one in each and every Garrison, Squad and Outpost in the entire legion to be the eyes and ears of the FISD on a local level. A suggested level of EIB or above is preferred, as part of the duties include assisting those aiming for levels 2 and 3, but is not a requirement. Being active on the boards on a regular basis , welcoming new members and helping out where you can is, though. Some of the benefits: 1. Access to exclusive Attache merch., including patches, etc. 2. Having the Imperial Attache title under your name. 3. Being a part of the team that welcomes new and prospective members of the FISD. 4. Being the "go-to" person in your Garrison, Squad or Outpost. 5. Exclusive access to the Attache HQ area, Imperial Propaganda Machine (newsletter) and merchandise discussions. We are currently in need of Attaches in many units, especially International Garrisons/Squads and Outposts. For more information on this program, please head here and if you should have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me at any time. Request your free Centurion certificate here If you see any of these Troopers around your Garrison or Squad, be sure to congratulate them! As many of you are aware, the FISD is currently in our March to 1000 program. Our goal is to reach the one thousand mark of Troopers who have earned their Expert Infantry Badge, and although we are well on our way to this goal, we still have a long way to go! The amount of approved submissions is increasing (over 80 this year alone) thanks to the dedication of those willing to go the "extra mile" toward screen accuracy. Here is a brief description of EIB as written by Paul (Daetrin), our founder: "Expert Infantryman status is not required for members of this detachment. It should be viewed as an optional set of requirements for those who wish to take the accuracy of their costumes to the next level, and be recognized accordingly. We're a costuming club - think of it as an award for costuming excellence and you get the picture. The requirements will not replace or supersede 501st standards, but only serve as an inspiration for the level of accuracy that can be achieved. The standards are meant to be high but achievable..." Besides the added pride you will have in your armor, those reaching this level can purchase exclusive EIB gear (patches, decals, coins (coming soon) etc.) and get a free certificate for your accomplishment. If you are interested or would like more information about the program head here that will help. You can also contact myself or any Imperial Attaché, and we will be more than happy to assist you!
