So many chemicals that are used to assembly armor are toxic. Products like adhesives, fillers, paint, sanding byproducts, these are all toxic to your health and may cause cancer or organ damage over long periods of exposure. I can't stress enough how important it is when using these products to do so in a well ventilated area and/or wear a proper respirator. NOTE: When sanding a well ventilated area is NOT good enough, USE A RESPIRATOR suited for the job. 4. Any posts by punkkass11 are me too.. messed up my stupid Tapatalk accounts for a couple post [emoji16] This is my ANH E11 build log. ANH E-11 just seems what a E-11 should look like, so that'ts what I'm going with. It will go with my Commander Iden Versio Inferno Squad costume, even though she probably would have a ROTJ E11, but the specs are specific List of materials: Build Page

  5. Got the ol Sterling L2A3 underfolder stock assembly today from Apex Gune Parts. Nice and greasy and hefty ! It looks like the bolt has to be removed and a new metal mechanism installed in place of the existing resin knob... have to find some builds on that Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk

  6. Evening all, Did a few of the final pieces tonight. I started with the “marker pen” inner bolt mod. Then moved on to the pins on the counter. I used pin and spade connectors, cut down to size with the Dremel. Next up, a part I wasn’t really planning on doing, however I’m really pleased I have now. I used a piece of ABS cover strip from my armour build for the counter reset button. Marked up for drilling - ended up drilling out through the bottom of the counter...doh. Also, managed to snap off half of my drill bit IN the counter and couldn’t get it out; hence the weird shape of my ABS reset button. After studying the real counters a little more, I noticed the little gap under the pins - used a junior hacksaw to add the little gap. In amongst all of the above, I also improved the areas where the T-tracks meet the barrel. Mag repair also sanded down. Thanks world. Painting next!!!!! :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  20. At this time, only the heeled version. We'll do another interest thread on the flat version after this run. Glad there's a lot of interest - I'm sure they'll make it in any size needed. Edit: found out the soles come from a supplier and the largest available is a EU 40 (US 9.5) Vincent is looking for other options, but he thinks it's unlikely he'll be able to find them that large, sorry! I expect some mockup samples this week and will post up here as soon as I get the photos!

  21. I'm in the process of building an ANH E-11 3D print kit while I wait for my armor. I thought I would post the progress. Since I am new to all of this and not very social media savvy, I figured I should try posting a build before my armor arrives as I plan to post that build as well. Anyway, this is my second 3D print kit - the first being a DLT-19. Which I was pretty happy with the way it turned out. The kit is from Blaster Master (Raymond) out of Florida. It is printed in ABS and is a very detailed kit with many small pieces. He has a Etsy store and I believe he is on this forum as well. Update: Here is the finished kit (well, almost). I went with the weathered look. From what I can tell, the kit is pretty accurate and comes with all the proper add-on part that were added to the old Sterling like the power cylinders and counter. The finished model does have a functional folding stock and charger. There is an option for electronics that I am not including in my build. So, I'm going to go through the basics with the hope that people that have never tackled a 3D print kit will get something out of this. Plus, I will try to highlight my mistakes as I go along. I'm part way through and forgot to take pictures at the beginning, but something is better than nothing. By the time I thought to take pics, I had the barrel section pretty much done and was just starting to sand and prep the other parts. By the way, if you are new to 3D prints, be prepared to do a lot of sanding! This is where I started to take pics... And this is an example of the barrel after sanding and priming compared to some pieces that have not undergone any prep work at all. As you can see, the printing process does leave a lot of artifacts. here is a link to a page I came across that outlines some of the common issues when 3D printing. Just so you know what you are getting into and some of the challenges of printing with plastic. https://all3dp.com/1/common-3d-printing-problems-troubleshooting-3d-printer-issues/#section-my-print-looks-bad

  22. Thinking about doing the Centurion level. Anyone know of a site I can order the necessary things to do this? Just figure it’s easier to get everything in 1 box then multiple purchases.

  23. Congrats on Big Brown Box day, Frank! I know what you are thinking right now... You wait and wait on your kit and then when it arrives you tear into it like a kid at Christmas... that's when the terror sets in. "Holy cow.. I have to put this thing together"? Not to worry, brother. There are literally hundreds of Troopers to help you out and dozens of fantastic build threads you can follow. Hopefully you have all the build supplies you will need on hand. For a complete list, here is a thread that may help: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/31404-supply-list-for-your-tk-build/ The best thing to do is decide on a place that you will be assembling it. Someplace (hopefully) quiet where you can keep all the parts together in one area. An outside area for letting the E-6000 glue dry is recommended. (It can be pretty noxious). A lot will depend on the strapping system you decide on. There is the "classic" (brackets) or the "snap" (preferred by many). An awesome build thread can be found here: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/35086-ukswraths-anovos-tk-build/ The biggest thing though comes down to a few things: 1. This is not a race. Think of it as a marathon, not a sprint. (Take your time). 2. Measure twice (3 times) cut once. 3. Research, research, and a little more research. (Study the build threads). 4. When in doubt, ask before moving ahead. 5. Start your own build thread. You can (and should) ask as many questions as you want there. We are here to help you every step of the way, and posting photos will help immensely if you should have any difficulty. (We LOVE photos). 6. Remember that many of us had no experience building armor and were in your shoes (boots) once. 7. There is no such thing here as a "silly" or "inane" question. We truly want you to succeed and become a part of the FISD family, and will assist you wherever we can. 8. Hopefully you are thinking about taking your armor to the highest level, (Centurion). Aiming toward this is easier during your build rather than after, and I promise you it's not as difficult as you think (and well worth the effort). Here is some more info. on that: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/35371-eib-and-centurion-what-do-these-terms-mean/ Best of luck on your white armor journey!

  28. This is normally done with snaps and black elastic or nylon strapping. Some use Velcro, but I don't recommend that for frequent trooping. You should check out some of the Centurion submission threads here for ideas and photos: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/72-request-centurion-status/ Here is a diagram of a strapping system using the "double snap" system which works great:

  32. Ok, after unpacking the NEVER ENDING levels of plastic, dang Alice and her rabbit hole, I finally began the armor trimming preparation. Tools - 1. Outline all the sections. I'm not going to post a pic of all the sections I traced out at the moment. If I run into something that I, and maybe others are concerned with I'll post the pic. Chest plate. - Ab 1a. Trimming (STOP!) I need to be honest with you first. As I started the trimming I quickly realized (after 10 minutes) there's no amount of medicine that I can take to eliminate my arthritis pain and stay coherent so, as much as I'd like to say I trimmed with my scissors, in the spirit if armor building, I couldn't do it. On a positive note I have a friend, I like to call him Mr. Dremel. With a plastic cutting bit I trimmed out and sanded 6 pieces in 45 minutes. An did I say I'm in far less pain today. The Dremel is not for everyone, but it is for me. NOTE: A good rule to everyone building TFAs is to NOT round off the top and bottom joining edge corners as they will need to appear seemless in some areas of the armor. Ex. In the following picture of a thigh section (that will be illustrated in more detail later) the corners should be left square so that when it is connected and glued to the adjacent section there is a fluid seem. Back to the trimming. After... More to come...
