Looking to get some specs on the TLJ Laser Ax? I figured starting a thread where whoever wants to input can do it here. Everything about the Ax is up for discussion. Post away1 point

Was a great feeling to get my approval and TK ID emails. Was a pretty long 3 weeks as I waited but getting my armor ready for the next levels kept me busy. Can't wait to troop next weekend officially.1 point

I’ve spent the majority of this afternoon trying the armour on, taking it off (well the torso) trimming the butt and trying it on again.... I’m not going to post pics as I still have more to do, but I’m just trimming it a bit at a time.... so I will probably be doing this all weekend..... ho humm .... I also removed the knee ammo and trimmed it down a tad, took 2mm if the top and bottom leaving the area above and below the bumps at 3mm Trimmed and sanded Close up of top and bottom Also trimmed the return edge on the inside of the thighs And these are the markings on where to trim the butt.... as I said I’m not there yet A little trim of the butt Anyway will carry on Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Thanks for the pat on the back, I'll keep it going Yeah totally Brian on the guards - without looking at Tino's build thread, I wouldn't have realized. Rear sight bling also Tino inspired. What would we do without him!!1 point

The helmets are warped, it's how they are. Post a picture and some one will be able to confirm.1 point

I don't have the backpack, but have a pretty close to accurate pauldron and almost completed armor. The only major inaccuracy with the cauldron is that the underside isn't white. however I figure that if a picture's taken, a little photoshop can make it the white color. Here's a pic. Yes the pauldron is on the wrong side. Accidental. I'll be making some accuracy adjustments in the coming days, like making the 2 middle belt boxes thinner. I should note however that I haven't submitted my costume for approval yet. I still have 1 month to go before 18. But I was planning on submitting the pics sometime halfway through the month. --------------1 point

I tackled this on a previous post; feel free to take a look if you wish. Yes, I used pliers1 point

I'd say that its pretty clear from that pic that your thigh armour is the right height. The thigh should come up to a height that the drop box only overlaps by an inch or so.1 point

Hello folks! I've made more progress on the blaster this past week. I've modified the flash guard and ejector port guard as well as the rear sight. The guards were thinned using a cylinder sanding drum on my dremel. Here are the before and after shots of the flash guard and the ejector port guard. After thinning them, I had their bottom part sanded flush against where they will be sitting by sanding them against the receiver tube. I now proceed to the rear sight. Here it is original. Lightly cleaned the 100 yard range using a 5 / 32 " drill bit. I then proceeded to sand away the excess resin. I finally have the rear sight sitting flush against the receiver tube. After sanding, it is very noticeable the difference when viewing the sight piece from the back and front. Here's a before and after picture of one end of the rear sight. The difference is pretty huge considering the piece came with excess resin to begin with. Rear sight sitting pretty good. I then proceeded to fashion the 5mm solid aluminum rod to act as the pin. I drilled through and countersunk it, then cut it to length to be a bit longer than the width of the rear sight walls. I got a hold of a 3mm diameter solid brass rod and did the same with that but didn't countersink but left hollow to insert a tiny brass rod later. Oh yeah, here are the dimensions of the rods. Here's a close up of the main pieces that make up my rear sight pin. Next, I would go and hollow out the resin rivets and do a test fit of my component pieces. Here are the component pieces glued using JB Weld. Here, you can see that I've revealed the crescent shape giving more definition to the rear sight. I'm happy to show that but if I were to follow exactly what they did on screen, I think I may have to screw in the scope rail over top of this detail. I also spent time sanding one end of the rear sight with a square file as there was excess resin there too. Finally, I have armature wire that will be used to secure these and other parts together. Not sure if it will be secure enough though. Few!! Quite a bit of work here; I need some rest but very happy how things have turned out. Again, thanks for dropping by - have a good day!1 point

Hey... big thanks you to you for your compliments, Jim. Sorry about the delay answering you but been busy with Halloween costume for the kids and the lot. Of course your build -among others- served as great inspiration for mine... in fact I used your colour pattern for the inner barrel (bright inside and flat outside) following yours. You know how this goes... taking good ideas from here and there and trying to make them work for you. Thanks again!1 point

Hey there Dan! You have the general shape of the clearing strip that's for sure; although by my estimations, it seems a tad wide. Yeah, I know the feeling of that plastic not being flush against the inner bolt. Eventually I was able to pull it off. With my heat gun at high setting, I got the plastic malleable in seconds and moved quickly to push it up against the bolt to get the shape. Unfortunately, shaping does take time, which will provide dividends during the gluing stage. I say take your time with it, you still have plenty of plastic from the completion set for another go if you wish, my two cents, cheers!1 point

So my trooper is basically done. A few revisions here, some replacements there, but for the time being it's finally done. I'm officially the 3rd ever R1TK!!! Now after revisement, all that remains is to submit for approval I apologize for the poor lighting, I'll hopefully get some better ones this Saturday at a troop. My handplate accidentally took the fresh velcro off of one of my hands, so it looks a little bare in the below picture. Also in regards to my thigh height, here's an official picture from the visual guide to Rogue One book. The gap between the belt and the thigh's is pretty big in that one, just like mine. Hopefully this mean's I'll be ok. Also, if you look to the right of the belt, that's my Wobani Labor Camp guard baton and holster. It's pretty accurate, with maybe 2 liberties. I'll post better pics soon. The side connection isn't alligned properly in the below pic. And Gmrhodes graciously photoshopped my armor in the pic below. It was mirrored because my pauldron was on the wrong side (oops!), so the rest of the armor is on the wrong side! Oh well..... Get's the look across. Mine's the TK closest to the camera. List of things to adjust/change: -Make 2 middle belt boxes thinner. -Adjust/trim the knee/thigh area with the knee guard. Due to the non-curvature nature of my thigh armor, my thigh protruded out just enough to where it kept resting on top of it and chipped away at the paint. Have an idea on how to do this. Which leads me to the next thing: -Make thigh's less tight. The screen used assets had the thighs close in the back, and in many scenes of the movie you can see the closure seperating. I'll make a shim in the back closure to allow for the thigh's to go higher on my leg. Because they're low, that's what was causing the previous mentioned problem. -Strap replacement/additional strapping. -In near future, replace full abdomen/kidney armor. The closure to my current armor is at the sides where the slanted black lines are. I assumed in the film that that's the real closure, and figured this would be the best way to close it temporarily, until I work out more and get fitter. Didn't want to permanently e6000 something now, then try and separate and trim down later. So I used shims out of styrene plastic (for sale signs at Ace Hardware), but because of how thin and flimsy they are, I doubled the shim. However, this doesn't stop it from flexing when I slip in and out of the side closure. -Sew velcro for gaskets onto knee areas of pants. -Repaint some of the armor, and add a brown weathering onto the black weathered areas. And that's it! This'll all come soon, but in the meantime I'll provide better shots pretty soon. I may make the belt box adjustment before hand.1 point

Yeah, I noticed that on other buckets. I might give it another round of clean-up when I redo the lenses, pretty much all the velcro in the helmet is falling off anyway. I'll probably use the ear screws as mounting points.1 point

Anovos' track record is so bad that they have been removed from the "vetted sellers" area for the time being. When they prove that they can process orders in a timely manner and vastly improve their communication skills I am sure they will be welcomed back. That may take a while, though. I doubt that since the kits are made overseas that they will be offering replacement parts of any sort in the future.1 point

My thoughts on Anovos are a mixed bag. Their TK/TX is a decent deal (I got amazing deals on the preorder), but if you have one issues, buckle up. Their customer service is pretty nonexistent. Their online chat seems disconnected from everything else and doesn't know what's going on. I have had 2 encounters with them. I will put aside the waiting time, I knew what I was getting into when I did the preorder. My 1st experience went super smooth. I paid, waited a long time, TK arrived on my door. Built it and started trooping. My next experience has turned me off from them. I ordered my TX (shadow trooper), paid in full including shipping. I waited the requisite long time. Then I get an email saying I have to pay more for shipping to get my TX. They said that the shipping rates uncreased since I ordered. To me this is strike 1. I already paid in full and if you would have delivered in a timely manner you wouldn't have incurred this increase. What they should have done is not say a word and eat that cost because I already paid for my shipping up front. At this point I just wanted the kit so I paid the extra $20 or so. Next I get a shipment notification, yay its on the way!! BBB day comes, I rip open the box and.....they sent a regular TK. This is strike 2. At this point I am pretty pissed, you make me pay extra and send the wrong kit. I get on the chat and am not too happy. I actually get someone to call me and I talk on the phone. Its not an isolated incident and they shipped a bunch of wrong kits. I ask for some consideration and for them to expedite shipping and overnight shipping which they flat out say no. Fine, they don't care about their customers I get it now. He says I will send a return shipping label and as soon as its received by the carrier they will send the right kit. I print the label and bring it to the shipper that day. I talk to the guy again and he says he will get it out. After multiple emails my kit finally ships over a week later. Strike 3. The kit arrives and its missing tube stripes and there is glue all over the lenses that makes it impossible to see out of the left eye. I talk to chat and put in a trouble ticket. Multiple and chat sessions later, I finally receive tube stripes and new lenses 3 months later. Strike 4. While in the end I was eventually satisfied with the product l, there were too many bumps in the road. The way that they treat their customers is deplorable. They basically use customers as crowd source funding and string them along for too long. Here is my ultimate take in them. If everything goes right and you don't mind waiting you will be satisfied. If something goes wrong you will rue the day that you placed and order with them. Besides their TK/TX the prices seem high to me also, but that's a matter of opinion. I for one will speak with my wallet and they will not receive another penny from me. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk1 point
