Hey there, fellow Troopers!
Last week I finally started my ANH Stunt build

I’m reassembling a pre-loved MFX kit. The helmet is an RS Stunt kit — mission accomplished

I started by thoroughly cleaning the entire armor and removing all the cover strips, as most of them had been glued on with hot glue. The first parts I reassembled were the shins. Some of the original cover strips were misaligned, so I cut new ones, adjusted the trimming, and reattached them using E6000. Here’s where the problem begins: since the cover strips on the back of the shins are glued only on the outside, I can’t get them to close snugly. Does anyone have advice on how to solve this issue?
My next concern: the shoes seem a bit too wide at the top. Do you think that’s acceptable?

Hello Andreas, welcome to the FISD

for the rear cover strip closure, you may need to warm up the ABS and form it to fit better.  A hot water bath is recommended over a heat gun as the ABS will go from mouldable to ruined in a fraction of a second some have succeeded with the heat gun but it is a big risk.

With respect to the boot, ideally it should not buckle under the shin armour. You could try inserting something in the boot to make it fit more snug, or slightly enlarging the size of the shin at the bottom.

Thank you!! I'll try the water bath trick; hopefully the cover strip will hold.
With the shoes, hmm okay that is not an easy task. Is this acceptable for level 1 or may be 2? otherwise I have to swap them

You may also want to sand any rough edges were the boot is touch or it will wear through the leather. Lifting the shins up a little may solve the tightness there.

Yes, this is a good idea. Time for Mr. Dremel (carefully)  Thank you!

Hello fellow troopers. My next step is the installation of the belt, ammo boxes and holster. Can someone suggest me a good lenght for the holster straps before I cut them?
See also my other questions in the picture, Thank you.

Velco is normally left over right but either is acceptable as both were seen

For Level 3, the corners of the plastic ammo belt shall be trimmed at a 45 degree angle that meets the outer edge of the cloth belt.

Hi again.

For level 1, it would be up to your GML.  For level 2, we would want to see a better fit.

Some of us decide to double snap, this is a good idea in case you loose a snap, then you have a backup

Update:  And a question about the distance between the shin and thighs. Is that aceptable or is the gap to big?
Maybe the thighs can be moved downwards a bit a turned inwards a little (as a helpfull trooper of my garrison suggested)
I will post pictures of the full armor in the next few days

Perfectly fine but I would still do as your Trooper suggested:duim:

2nd Update with 90% of armor finished.

Missing parts (wip):

  • shoulder bridges
  • srew covers for the belt
  • holster

Missaligned parts/ trimming needed (from my local fellow troopers ):

  • Helmet sits to high (easy to be fixed by removing the cushion obove the head)
  • shoulder bells may be a bit closer to the shoulder
  • butt plate to high on the right side (easy task, by adjusting the strapping a bit)
  • torso hidge overlaps on both sides
  • ...

One of my biggest issues is that the snap of the right bicep easily come off from the shoulder bell as soon as I am moving my right arm. May be the strap sits to tight.

I've found that it's probably better to use a webbing material instead of an elastic band, otherwise the gap easiliy becomes too large.

Let me know waht you think. Thank you in advance.

Looking good, a few tweaks and you are almost there.

You may be able to add V tabs to your kidney/posterior to stop it pushing out

With a heat gun or oven you bend strips of ABS plastic into the shape of a V, only glue one side and the other remains free to allow movement when you bend. Just helps stop the butt plate from pushing back from the back plate.

As you may be able to see in this image your backplate is digging into your back and not in alignment with the chest.

PXL_20251212_183231907_MP.jpg

Your right leg on the rear has the coverstrip going the wrong way, should be outside over inside, yours is inside over outside.

Belt is a little high on the back

Check your TD measurements the gap and end caps width looks a little off

I would change your snap, you may find it's not quite round, any distortion the smallest movement or angle it can let go. If you want to try first use some pliers and gently close trying to keep the snap round, or even slightly squared, video here

Thank you very much for your time and very detailed feedback TK85421.
When I read about the cover strip being mounted incorrectly, I wondered, how could that have happened?

Happy to read, that I am allmost there, that motivates me alot.

As you mentioned, the right shin has the coverstrip attached the wrong way. Because I have used super glue, the task ended up in a mess. I was able to repair the shin with putty and a coverstrip insde (underneath the damaged areas).

Thank you all. My update for today is not a big deal, because most of the issues regarding my strapping are still unsolved but in the making.

Update:

  • Holster Installed (correct rivets will follow asap).
  • Sit of the Helmet is better now in my opinion

I think I'm a little too thin for an average trooper, as the torso armor pieces are a bit too wide and overlap on the right side.
See detail picture...
