Seam on the side a problem?
justjoseph63 replied to REAPERofDAISYS's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Some items are left at the discretion of GMLs, and one may pass something that another may not. When in doubt about a certain item or is it is not clearly defined in the CRL I always refer to screen used images, that way there is no ambiguity as to what is correct. Some things we do indeed give a "pass" on, like using split rivets instead of cap rivets on the thigh ammo pack, but for the most part it has to be as close to canon as possible for level 3. Another exception is weapons. Resin, scratch build and Hyperfirm for example are perfectly acceptable, as very few of us have access to a real Sterling. However, when a specific item is generally available we ask that it be used. Many Troopers have reached level 3 with fantastic looking home dyed Chelsea style boots, but they need to match the ones seen in the films as closely as possible. Here are 2 pics of screen-used boots as a reference: (Note where the seam is located) As Greg mentioned, the ones in your photo look a bit short. If you are over 5 ft 9 I would probably not recommend them at all for the reason he gave.. your calf armor would be get stuck under them constantly unless you used a Velcro or strap system. -
Fish's ANOVOS Build Thread - Aspiring for L3
menschie replied to fishgoh0nk's topic in ANH (Stunt and Hero)
Those will not pass CRL for a TK. Only option is the 421’s...they are white, no seam Chelsea’s, exactly as they’re supposed to be. if I were you I’d order them in the July wave, and you’ll have them in August some time. They’re gorgeous boots. Order them a size bigger than you wear. Also, do yourself a favour and order their neck seal for a TK while you’re at it. I love mine! So comfortable. -
cut the front of the lower legs today and did a trial fitting. They are quite snug, I still intend to remove a bit of the return edge at the top and clean out the last mm at the bottom. That will hopefully give me enough playing room to get them right. The shoes btw are 20 euro, brown chelsea boots from Aldi Painted by hand. Non of that fancy boots for me just yet. Working on a bit tighter budget than I did for my First Order TI. Going to have to figure out how to get the back aligned properly, at least at the top. Still need to clean up the soles of my shoes a bit, remove some of the paint that I got on them. As I am 182cm the length of the lower legs is close to perfect for me, by the feel of it. I haven't removed the pull-edge from the back sides yet, quite worried I am not going to have enough material to play with in the end. So first planning to get the front coverplates on, align the back properly and glue them together properly. Intending to close the back with industrial velcro as I have used copious amounts of on my TI costumes (but then obviously for TK in white).

Question about ANH Boots
themaninthesuitcase replied to Tattooed Trooper's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
If you can get some black non leather Chelsea boots you can for the old fashioned (and more accurate) route and paint them. I have no idea if this is something that exists but it would be what I’d do. -
Original boots UK7.5 found!
ZeroRoom replied to troopermaster's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Interesting... Do you have multiple sources for this info? Regency Chelsea Boots are mighty close to that... However the cut around the ankle looks more like a Rhinegold Chelsea boot than the shorter tabs on the Regency Chelsea's. Of course it might be the camera angle... -
ANH Stunt Build (Back in the game)
BananoPower22 replied to BananoPower22's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
I finally managed to load up some pictures. It’s not much but I’ve managed to get the helmet done. How are the teeth, eyes, earcaps and overall placement in general? If it’s wonky, that’s perfect then. I feel that I could get the eyes and teeth area a little bit more accurate, but maybe that’s just me. I don’t want to go too overboard and have to order an extra piece to be completely honest I’ve been also using lexan scissors, xacto knives and sand paper, working around the armor area pieces. I have not fully trimmed yet but once I get most of them trimmed and sanded, I’ll take some pictures. I’m still in need of a pair of boots. There are several options here and the most popular two are ridiculously overpriced since last time I got a pair for myself... so I’m thinking about heading the “most authentic way” of getting a pair of black Chelsea boots and dye them white, and always keep that dye around whenever something pops out or they’re wearing out too much. From this perspective it’s not a bad idea but once I get my hands down and dirty I’ll see really if it’s worth the shot. - I’ll be practicing on a pair of boots I got around here and see how I can get them from brown to white... the concept should be the same if I head the white dyeing route. Paint wise, for the teeth I have seen both options, humbrol or but testors. Which one is truly the way to go? I used humbrol for my past helmet builds and it was pretty good and efficient; gets the job done Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Hello all! I recently ordered my TK armor from AP and am now in the process of working out all the other details and nuances that will go into this build. While researching boots I came across this option that, surprisingly enough, is sold via Wal-Mart. It looks like the manufacturer is Pleaser Shoes. https://www.walmart.com/ip/TROOPER-12-1-Flat-Inch-Heel-Pointed-Toe-Men-s-Boot/115629685?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=5780&adid=22222222228045512533&wmlspartner=wmtlabs&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=m&wl3=95409564170&wl4=pla-217979465810&wl5=9010522&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=114221082&wl11=online&wl12=115629685&wl13=&veh=sem 1'' Flat heel Pointed toe Pull-on Chelsea boot Available in Sizes: Small (size 8-9), Medium (size 10-11), Large (size 12-13) and XL (size 14) Item Includes: Pair of Boots Material: Polyurethane Item Dimensions: 1" Heel Care Instructions: Spot Clean Does anyone have any idea if these would work for 501st approval? I am hoping to go for centurion level as I have heard doing so from the outset of your build is not too much extra work. Any thoughts would be most appreciated! Thanks.

March 2018 Request for CRL Updates thread
Harbinger replied to Daetrin's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I prefer silicone, I'm all for idealized screen accuracy. If Lucas had access to white Chelsea boots and silicone hand plates he'd have likely gone with those. -
So with the boot run now live on Imperial Boots, I have a question for @Daetrin : The current CRL for the Legacy Trooper Female shows images of boots with smooth sides, and while it states "No buckles or laces shall be visible." it doesn't explicitly state that elastic on the sides (as with this chelsea style boot) is permissible. What can we do to have this updated so it's clear for the GMLs that these boots are allowable, or do we even need to?

HELP big shoes and neck seal needed
sharkbait replied to Jack the Jaeger's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
Darman's neck seals are great. I have one from Trooperbay.com, which I love- they go up to 19'' neck and will do custom orders if your size isn't listed. As to boots, I checked Imperialboots.com for you, but unfortunately theirs only go to US 12. Other than TK Boots (which I have) I'm not aware of any other white boot vendors... People have gone for the black Chelsea boot and painted it white with leather paint. It will require touch up, but if need be, it'd get you into some boots. TK Boots are custom made for them, last I heard at least, so you might want to reach out and see if they could make a larger pair. Worth a shot, at least. Good luck! -
Is this site acceptable for boots?
Harbinger replied to Darth Cobay's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Those look like some weird hybrid of classic TK (Chelsea style) and First Order TK boots. While they would probably be accepted for basic approval I do not think they’d work for Expert Infantry for either TK. I don't usually recommend this, but honestly, if all you are aiming for is a pair of boots for basic approval ASAP (this won't be accepted at EI or above either), save yourself $30 and get these: https://www.amazon.com/Funtasma-Mens-Trooper-12-Combat-Boot/dp/B00NXY3HTG (And use that $30 towards a better, more accurate pair from Imperial Boots.) -

Ok so not much progress at the moment . . Just waiting to order my boots then i can size the rear of shins and add sniper knee olate etc . Do have some chelsea typr boots and the are narrow ankle just not high enough so thinking instead of using those to size i may be better to wait till u have my boots from ts . Money been a little tight after christmas and all . Will also be requesting help see if any one local can help with final touches to strapping . My stupid frame aint helping things [emoji52] Then such as back piece If i make it almost touch the kidney it feels too low on shoulder blade area and a promenant gap between shoulder blade etc . Move up a touch and it fits over my shoulder area fine but leaves a small gap between back and kidney . Prob around 20mm so may have to get a pic or two up to show what i mean So if any one local to me reading this can help fine tuning to make the armor sit better ... although i dont mind travelling a short distance then message and will get back to you The only thing i have done realy is the inside of my lid Using eva foam adhesive sheets and a foam helmet line from clive . I have more or less lined the inside of the helmet . Along with toyying with a chin strap What you think ? Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk

Will these boots work?
Triple D replied to Jack the Jaeger's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
No they wont work. BootsFor 501st approval: Boots are above ankle height and made of white leather or leather-like material. Small U-shaped elastic sections on both sides of the ankle. Flat sole with a short heel. No buckles or laces. Jodhpur/ Chelsea-type boots or an equivalent style is acceptable. Elvis or Mariachi boots are not allowed Not sure where to find those in that size. Try to get in touch with imperial boots and see if they can do a custom size. -

Right now I'm not seeing either of them passing. The first one (Chelsea Gothic) has a zipper on the inside that is visible. Only the TFA TK boots are allowed a visible zipper in the CRL. They are also missing the front panel. The second one has the extra seam line on the outside and also would need a front flap. As-is right now, neither are approvable per the CRL I'm afraid.

HELP big shoes and neck seal needed
tkrestonva replied to Jack the Jaeger's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
You have the same issue as people (women in particular) on the small end of the scale. Your only option may be to find a correctly-styled set of black Chelsea boots and paint/dye them white. As for the neckseal, Darman's Props will make you a custom one. -

Find you a pair of Chelsea-like boots: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/24742-trooper-boots-a-list-of-suitable-candidates/ And then, dye them in white: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/24904-chelsea-boots-painting-using-airbrush-heavy-pics/#entry313120 or you could also send a message to TKBoots: http://www.tkboots.com/ -
Hopefully I'm putting this thread in the right place... So, I had the best birthday surprise ever and had my Phasma armor kit delivered 2 days before the estimated delivery date! It's Jim's kit, though it was bought second hand (but brand new) off of someone who realized she wouldn't have time to build it. Still need to order basically everything else, but this should keep me plenty busy until it all arrives Getting over a nasty cold so I probably won't do much work on this until I'm feeling better - hopefully this weekend! Also, for anyone who orders one of Jim's kits - I would recommend wearing gloves if you want to handle the pieces. The fiberglass on the insides of mine was still pretty rough and now my hands are itching something fierce. As someone who has worked with fiberglass before I should have known better... whoops... how to get your boots from popping out
Minuteman replied to joshsurf's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Hi Josh! Sorry to say that, but your boots are far from beeing accurate. Real chelsea boots would be much better, cause your seam at the side looks weird and the u-shaped section just doesn´t look right and ends too far up. For your problem I have seen this solution: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/9164-tip-boots-poppin-out-of-the-shin-pieces-my-fix/ Unfortunately you need real chelsea boots for this method. Good luck! -
"The boots have a rugged tread white sole with a tall thick heel." Not sure what the GML is asking for on this one. The photo is not the originally approved heel, it was a Gio design. Here's the original "Newlook" and "Steve Madden" white chunky chelsea that was approved after adding a vinyl strip to the front:

Let the build begin.. Stormtrooper RS ANH WIP
Rob .T . replied to Steftroop's topic in ANH Build Threads
Nip over and try some on would be my advice . I take a 42 usually, and 43 imperials fit perfectly . the leather is soft , and the smaller sizes have softer soles , after a few hours wearing they look just like the boots in the movies, most modern painted Chelsea boots just look wrong, too stiff and badly shaped .
