I would guess that the difference in color in that spot could be a black leather strap that connects the shoulder bell to the suit.

It's too bad that it didn't match your set of armor, I thought I would throw in my experience with the colors matching so that others reading this thread don't dismiss the MRCE altogether, worried that it won't match anything they get.

I don't necessarily agree with this point. Yes, when certain flash photography is used, the helmet may appear different in color, but in person it can match.-----------

Maybe I'm confusing VT with PT armor.

It's pretty clear that even though he is banned from being a user on this site, he clearly is still reading the boards and tracking what others are saying about his armor here.

That brings up a good point: we are really lucky to have so many different options available for armor.

Well, I really like that the back and ab pieces are now longer and cover more of your sides. No more having to make some homemade shims to bring the two pieces together. Another advantage of using their newly sculpted helmet is that the color of the plastic will now match in flash photography, which is usually doesn't when using the MRCE with FX armor.

this is very exciting. Looks like the changes to the armor combined with the newly designed helmet (whenever it gets finished) will do a lot to clear the bad wrap that FX armor gets. Of course this will be called AM armor I guess to differentiate it?

It turned out very nice - good job! I too ended up making my own holster. I just couldn't stomach paying $40-$55 for one that someone else made. I wanted it to be leather and not crappy pleather too. I ended up making mine for $27.

I couldn't find any numbers with special meaning, so I just went for something that would roll off the tongue easily when kids would ask what my name was. My number is TK-3034, and I pronounce it TK Thirty-Thirty-Four.

Stay away from armor made of styrene, unless you like your armor easily broken.

No offense to anyone here, but I'll never get a tat. Too painful to get, too permanent to have for the rest of my life, and too painful and expensive to remove.

I use the Novus polish. I got the 3 pack from Amazon and it was the best price around.

Just thought I would chime in on this thread again. I've had this neck seal for quite a while and have been disappointed with it. The velcro that holds together in the back came undone: the stitching came apart so that when I pull the velcro apart after using it, one of the sides of velcro almost came off all the way. I've had to sew it back on by hand. Also, the edge that gets tucked into the under armor shirt, has just been cut with scissors and has a jagged edge. Would have been nice if it was folded over and sewn.

I have the Master Replica helmet, and the reason I got it was because I'm not very interested in assembling things, and the thought of assembling an entire helmet was too much for me. I did do some mods to it to get it more to my liking. It is definitely 501st acceptable, just make sure you swap out the lenses for a darker green that won't show your eyes when someone takes your picture with a flash.

AP is way more accurate, but FX is extremely easy to put together and doesn't need to be trimmed first.

I think your crazy to want to do it too, especially since there are so many great armor kits already available. But if your main purpose is wanting to do it just to do it, then go ahead. If your main purpose in doing it is to become a stormtrooper, then I'd suggest getting a kit. It you do decide to mould your own, I'd definitely purchase a kit to get a good reference on how others have done it. As long as you are getting it and not recasting it, you'll probably get much better results with your sculpts. Think of it as drawing a person out of your head vs. drawing a person with photo reference - big difference.

The other thing you have to consider is the cost of all of the other things that make up the costume besides the armor cost: -boots -gloves -neck seal -under armor -glue, straps, snaps, tools etc. These alone will add another couple of hundred bucks, not to mention the additional, but not completely necessary: -blaster -blaster holster -fans in helmet -bin to hold all of your armor
