  1. FX helmet is perfectly acceptable for 501st clearance. It isn't for FISD clearance though. But that is optional.
  2. Someone contacted me and I helped him out and assembled it in 2 days. Though it was a crappy recast so we could have finished it faster if it were an original FX kit.
  3. The other option I can think of is an ATA helmet, I hear it's cheap and more accurate than an MRCE, though I am unsure on the price... Try researching that route.
  4. That would not be 501st acceptable I'm affraid. If you want a cheap 501st acceptable helmet, you could look into the Master Replicas one, known as the MRCE. There is information in this forum on mods you can do to make it look better. Good luck!
  5. Wow Mike, I'm sorry to hear about that. Costuming and prop making definitely has a darker side to it
  6. Nice and detailed, what is it made of?
  7. I'm a bit confused by the question...
  8. The amp is small enough to be simply worn under the chest plate. It comes with a strap so you just wear it like a necklace.
  9. When it comes to electronics, I would say save your money and get the good stuff, or don't buy it at all. I had my share of cheap amps and microphones and they either were too soft, too bulky, or just had too much feedback. After 4 years of trooping, my favorite combo is a good throat mic, with either a rom f/x or hyperdyne static board, and new amp known as "Aker" that a fellow 501st has imported from China. ------------------------------------------------------------------- -------- A good throat mic goes for around $100, and more. You can find cheaper ones, but again, you get what you pay for. The reasons why I chose a throat mic is that it is easily hidden under my neckseal, gives little-to-no feedback in comparison with traditional mics, and there are no wires going into my helmet (my helmet is too small for electronics anyways) -------- ------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.yourmovecreep.co.uk/romfx/newsite/rfxpic1.jpg Above: Rom F/X Below: Hyperdyne --------- For the static board, you can not go wrong with a Rom F/X or hyperdyne unit. Another possible contender might be the "Voice core" though I have no personal experience with that. Some people also like the "TCI". These go for roughly $150 dollars I believe. ---------- ------------------------------------------------------------------- Lastly the amp. ---------- AKER MR1506 This amp is soo good, I actually have to turn the volume down. It has less feedback than other amps I've used (though it will give you some if you crank it all the way, which you don't need to). It is smaller than other amps. It has an internal rechargeable battery that lasts 8-12 HOURS. No more paying for costly batteries! To top it off, it has an additional input jack. This means you can have an mp3 or any audio player play the imperial march or audio clips of troopers, etc... while your still talking with your microphone! This beauty, is around $50 -------- (You can also get these direct from a 501st member for a bit cheaper, contact Jim: FamilyJim72(at)yahoo.com)
  10. FX armor is larger than accurate sized armor. You could trim the lower back if you really want, but it's really not necessary. It will not offer you any more flexibility as your back will not bend backwards. Ttrimming it to have a gap may mean that your back armor might get caught in the lower back plate armor when you move around. I would just leave it.
  11. Wires look messy in my opinion and distracts from the look of what a real gun should look like.
  12. You get access to the supporter's section of the forums, your name color changes to bright green and says supporter, and I think you get more inbox space and picture uploading space, etc... Oh and a BIG thank you. It's basically a donation to keep this site up and running.
  13. I think that may be a 501st item only too.
  14. Try resting it the part on a round surface and heat it up a bit and let it cool over the shape desired. Sorry to hear about the disaster, I myself hate having to use the heatgun. For my eye bump, I was able to reduce it using hot glue when I put the lens in. It heated up the plastic just enough for me to push the bump down.
  15. Say hello to my lil' friend! "Can't touch this"
  16. I'm not sure if those would be accepted as it seems to have a square toe instead of a round one. They are nice shoes though.

Hey T, can I get with you later today, but before the trooping? I could use the neck seal for the helmet, and I got something for you on behalf of a FISD member.

I'm going to a 501st event in my TK tonight Tomorrow I will be at an armor party working with new electronics for my armor, and thats about it that is 501st related. Next weekend i'll be busy putting my republic commando armor together
  21. It is 501st accepted, but it isn't "approved". That armor is a recast of another armor.
