Stormtrooper grappling hook
stukatrooper replied to tk0000's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Andy, blumin ace mate,my eyes poped out of my head. I can put ideas on paper but turning them into working in hand items i fall flat on my face. One for me 100% if you make some. -
How do i connect this up?
stukatrooper replied to stukatrooper's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
thanks DesTROYer Yes the rom-fx can run on 9v or 12v. I only have the single 9v and now with the extra 2 packs of 4xAA batterys i can get the max 12v power out of it. This will give me higher volume and a longer life on the batterys. I thought it wasnt as simple as all reds together ,so thanks for sorting this one out for me -
Wonder if one of you troopers can help out.I have two battery boxes holding 4AA they both have a 9V conector on the boxes.I want to run both to my rom-fx. So i would need to make a three way connector,i need to know what wires go were.I have the three 9V ends with wire on them so its a diagram i need? Hope you can help?

Nice little tip! I would think that works very well on thin parts we find from time to time. -
Stormtrooper grappling hook
stukatrooper replied to tk0000's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
OK guys had a good look at this hook and this is how i see it. Sorry about the free hand but you get the idea.I really feel the stem has a coiled spring around it and thats what Luke fiddles with to make the hooks open up. -

I wondered were you had go to graham, and now we know you have been busy.Looks very nice mate. You got it spot on with your build.its 100% better to get the armour to fit you rather than trying to fit the armour. You have put lots of hours into this and its paid off.Now tell me are you smiling under that lid ? -

Armando is right about putting the lid way for a week or so,i know we all want to get these projects of ours done and dusted but sometimes time is our friend. I found a UK contact for Krylon paint,(yes mate you can get it in the UK) i will PM hes details phone number etc. My sandy lid was done by first using wet and dry paper all over ,even took off the ears so i didnt miss any area, then washed the dust off. then just sprayed the lid with krylon gloss white.first coat you could not see, left for 30 seconds or so then just built it up with 4 layers with a gap of about 30-40 seconds.then i think i put the lid on the top shelf for about 8 days. I was able to use wire wool on the lid to take the shine off areas as i was making a sandy then used pastal chalks, grey, sand, burnt umber, yellow, cream for the weathering. It took all that with no chipping or flaking. -
looks a pro job there mate nice work
-
And theres a nice leather holster on its way to put it in <_< Thanks guys ,the wire wool did most of the work knocking off the gloss i used acrylic model paint to weather it .paint chips here and there but most important the burnt umber.this softens the chips and gives an oiled aged look. the great thing about acrylic is you can water it down which makes it blend with the other colours you use.

Im almost finished making my new E11 ANH blaster and thought i would share some painting tips i used.First off i prayed the who thing with a satin black, and it just looked wrong. So i got hold of some hammerite gloss black spray (its the smooth version for metal and a very high gloss). When dry i rubbed the blaster all over with some wire wool to take the gloss off.Now this way it puts scratches and leaves some of the gloss in the hard to get to parts. The E11 really looks like metal it has gloss areas along with half shine areas along with matt. I will put some pics up as soon as the light is right.

nice job on the suit,i think you are a little wrong on the shoulder straps not being glued onto the chest.I think they were glued on so you are riight in doing this. Thighs just a little higher and elastic or webing a little shorter on the chest and back plate to bring the chest higher.Thats about all can see for a great fitting suit. -

that was looking so good, but now im not so sure.I know noboby can see inside your lid but i think you could have put the lenses in a little better. After spending all that time getting the lid back to full health, just my eye but a step back you have taken. -
Plastic weld is the only way for me with ABS.Fast clean and strong.Ticks all the boxes mate. PLASTIC WELD Also great on HIPS but not the gloss side
