  1. The resin one will break if you drop it, and comes in usually a white color, needs to be assembled and painted. The stuff Lewis does is a high density rubber, will bounce when dropped, and looks great right out of the package. I do not own a HF, but have seen several and have always been impressed!!
  2. I actually sewed a 3" piece of 1" nylon strapping to my boot in the front, then added a snap to the end of the grieve and then glued a snap on the inside. Then when the grieve gets put on, you open from the rear and snap the strap in place, then finish. Keeps the grieve from riding up, and is 100% hidden. I will try to post pics of this is anyone is interested.
  3. My brand new (and the 100th EIB) GML thanks you!!!
  4. It is a right of passage!!! You have not trooped as a TK until you have smelled new CABoots!!!
  5. Nice pics!!! You guys need a duster??? Don't Hate the Duster!!
  6. Keep in mind those are too large if you ever want to fly with them as luggage. I sue this one for my TK as well as my snowy, and the only thing that will not fit is my bucket!! -------------
  7. The issue is it changes constantly. We sometimes add up to 100 members a MONTH to the Legion, so that list will be out of date the moment it is published. That is one of the reasons you are asked to have up to 5 choices of the available list, because sometimes even between you applying and being accepted, the number you wanted might be gone.
  8. Man, I feel for you there, but I can say it is well worth it. I thought I went through the ringer, but in the end, I never regretted it, and learned a ton!!!
  9. Sounds good. I also would chime in to say that is the Kidney plate and ab plate "touch" that should be considered NO GAP. People like Mike H. that are skinny enough to not need a filler should not need to bridge the gap. Screen accurate kits were like this, so our Requirements should allow for those to be that close to accurate be just that!! Just my $.02, and if I own anyone change, let me know!
  10. Excellent story and a great outcome!! Nice work Terrell!!
  11. 1) MC Stunt 1) MC Sandy 1) MC Shadow Trooper 1) Other Rockies Trooper bucket 1) Snowtrooper 1) Biker Scout (in progress) 1) Clone Commander Cody 1) Clone Commander Neyo 1) Imperial Gunner (in progress) 1) RC Scorch 1) Jodo Kast (in Progress) Gotta love the buckets!!!
  12. Well Doug, I have to respectfully disagree and agree with you. Puppies are the best, but kittens and cats in general are my proven nemesis, and just for proof I offer the fact I really despise cats, and every time I visit a person with cats, the darn thing ends up walking all over me, like I OWE it a pet or something. Only a cat would knowingly walk all over my rights to personal space when it knows darn good a well I DON'T WANT TO PET IT!!! Dogs will respect your space. Besides, puppies have that really pleasant puppy breath!! DOGS (and puppies) ALL THE WAY!!!!
  13. Actually the vinyl I use had adhesive and is essentially a "sticker", but they are cut out of a single color, and have a more accurate appearance since the original ones were most likely painted on. The ones I do also come off easily as well and can be replaced. Here is something I did in 2007 (and should be doing again this year) (Yes i know it is an FX bucket, but the 2009 model will not be) The stripes are purple and silver, and I just removed my blue stripes for the Playoffs, and then replaced them after ( I actually sold this bucket, but a current one will be sporting the same look in 2009). Pink is an option, I just don't have that color yet. Easy to get, and I could use it for other things if you were serious.
  14. The kits are NOT very screen accurate, but they work well for the environment. Steve (TK-4999), Margaret (TK-Margarita) and I spent some time last year during SWW really looking at the kits. The picture Joey has seems somewhat accurate, but there are discrepancies. 1) There is a strap that runs UNDER the boot from the calfs or greevies. 2) The tube stripes are black, not blue 3) The chest armor also straps under the arms with elastic (also white) 4) I believe the ab buttons are black, but the bucket is a combo of ANH and ROTJ. 5) The chest is an odd shape 6) Yes, the belt is more leather/vinyl looking Please know this is in now want meant to be a slight on the kits or Disney!!! The kids there love them, and only a 501st member would ever notice the difference, but they are there. We are sometimes the WORST critics when it comes to kits, and this can be an issue, especially when talking to someone who simply does not care or is not that educated in the armor.
  15. Which is where the Garrisons need to be more aware and use the Dets as a resource for new members. If a local member is not an armor aficionado, he should point the members to the detachments for help and and specific questions. I know that is how it "SHOULD" work!!! It is certainly getting much better.
  16. I just recently went through this with a new recruit, and I can tell you Mike the GML for the Bloodfin Garrison is awesome. A new member submitted his kit, and the GML asked him to fix the stripes, and asked for a "lighter blue". To me, lighter blue is a royal blue or something like that, so I just send an email to the GML reviewing the app and asked what he was looking for. He quoted the FSID CRL, and we were all set. This shows as a legion we are getting better, and that things like the CRL ARE helping. Also, when the GML's are using that as a standard, there is really not much wiggle room. Scott
  17. This is very true, and I agree. BTW, I think the newer runs of FX are coming with blue. I know I went through about 5 different colors before I got one that was as close to screen accurate as possible. I think there is a large majority of TK's out there (myself being one) that joined not knowing the were supposed to be blue. And to make matters worse, it looks odd to have 10 TK's in FX gear and all black tube stripes and ab buttons, and one screen accurate kit. Many who don't know the SW universe like we do look at the screen accurate K and ask "what's his deal?" Happened to me at CIV. Comes down to education and a desire to change. If someone wants to be accurate, they will change after education. If someone wants to troop and does not care about accuracy, they won't change. Doesn't make them any less a trooper, and we should be careful not to alienate those who are fine with the black after it is explained those are not accurate.
  18. This was actually a staged video because of a flaw in the Sideshow collectible TB prop. Owners could get a new piece (the actual scout), but they had to show proof they had destroyed the original. There was quite a hubbub on the 501st, and people got really nasty on some of the comments, so they decided to post an explanation after some actual threats were made against the ladies in the video. Sorry to burst anyone's bubble, just don't want any hate-mongers to go postal on the video makers!!!
  19. Just a couple of suggestions: 1) Use some foam or similar material to "bump out" your shoulderbells. I realize you are admitting to the challenge of being skinny, and the FX bells are big. 2) I would also look to maybe heat up the bells and narrow them a touch. With your biceps being so narrow, they look dis-proportionate. 3) If possible, I would try to narrow the forearms. Looks like you did a great job sizing the biceps, but the forearms seem dis-proportionate as well. Please know for a person of your size, your work with the FX is a great job, and getting the MR bucket will only enhance your look. Nice job trooper!!!
  20. Not sure if you have housing plans already, but I would HIGHLY recommend renting a house. I have done so the last two years, and it is great for relaxing and getting away, and can be cheaper than a hotel. We were able to rent a house for $150 a night during June, which is peak season. If you want details, PM me and I will send you the specifics, but it was the best way to stay during Star Wars Weekends. I think Steve an Margaret (the TK's who went with me last year for a FISD appearance), also enjoyed the stay!!!
  21. I agree, there is NO reference anywhere to indicate that these were taped. Paint is the way to go, and if you can, free-hand has a more accurate look. If you want idealized, then use masking tape (or electrical tape in a pinch), but the frown should be painted!!!
  22. Or you can try places like Tandy Leather. That is where I was able to get them, and then just take a small square piece of ABS, and mount the snap to that, and glue to the inside of the cod piece. Wallah!
  23. I have to say I like the eye bump. I realize it is in no way reflective of what would be mass produced for a military the size of the TK's, but it is what we seen in the films. And I am all for "screen accuracy" whenever possible.
  24. Yea, I am a total over-achiever when it comes to the wife. She is great and always up for stuff like this. One of these days we will get the TD on and get her in a bikini for some pics. But I thought this one was all TK. Thanks troops.
