  1. In my image you can see white foam that is pretty much this exact size
  2. This is my stunt helmet, and almost everything here is outdated (image taken when test fitting my mic system), except the foam on the forehead - and here you can see how it looks! I've done the same in my Hero helmet which is my main costume! And personally, apparently having a buckethead for a head I don't have any issues moving my jaw or issues with headaches and such regarding the use of chin straps! Maybe there is something wrong with me! I can even use my Hero helmet for hours without a hint of a headache! @Morgi
  3. I didn't add it myself on this helmet but it is very raw in its construction! Just a popper with two elastic straps, a male on one and a female on the other, and it sits inside the helmet by just utilizing the screw, nut and washer that is already there!
  4. Personally I only have a bit of foam about an inch high and the width I don't know - it's running along my whole forehead (just over the lenses) and in this way I get more space in the front of my helmet for various electronics - and I have no issues! I could probably fit some glasses if they are of a small variant that sit tight against my head! With just the chin strap in the first position the helmet follows my head movements and sits low enough to even hide if I wear a neck seal or not! (of course I do, but still)
  5. Hello Robert and welcome! Awesome to hear that you aim to take it to Centurion! If you have any other questions (any) just feel free to shoot in this thread! Glad to have you here!
  6. Wow! Your perseverance really paid off! Congratulations! Do you have anything else you obsess about that you hope to find out about, and if so what is it?
  7. To everyone that sees this! The forum is alive and buzzing because of you! Happy holidays! I truly believe that our community is one of the best, ever! So supportive and engaged! To the people that are keeping an eye on members and especially the mini life updates A.K.A. the troop logs, and keeps commenting on them, making sure we are still feeling encouraged, even long after their build processes are over - thank you!
  8. I wouldn't say that it is unhealthy! I love being in this amazing place of knowledge, feeling like I'm being a part of the research and preservation of the best costume ever made! Just by learning the details and sharing your own tips of achieving them helps us preserve the truth and bring an even deeper connection and feeling for the people we show them to when we are out on troops! I remember when I was waiting for my BBB. I spent to much time here and got obsessed and looked at so many EIB and Centurion applications that by the time I received my BBB I had already planned out a schedule and a list of details I needed to fix to reach Centurion! My feeling is that if you're already a nerd and you're doing research and loving it, why not go all the way showing your dedication! I still cannot help going on here about 10 times a day just refreshing the page to see what the people I follow has commented on, or look for new messages from people such as yourself! Another thing for me was an obsession to create cool signature banners with all the correct garrison logos and the achievements and stuff to look even more cool on here! I now help others with that but I still get the same feeling! Best forum I've ever been a part of! Welcome and keep the obsession alive!!
  9. It seemed in the picture where you have your back turned towards the camera that at least the left thigh is a bit too twisted to the left! Ideally, if possible, the cover strip of the thigh should be in the middle of the leg! I think that the right thigh might also be twisted too much to the right, but it's hard to tell with images that small!
  10. Hello Hugo, nice to have you here, congrats on the approvals! Looking forward to follow your journey here on the FISD!!
  11. I teared up instantly! She wanted to give her money to the charity somehow, and she had planned on giving some here and some there (different initiatives for the same cause) but she loved us so much that she put her whole heavy bag of coins in my hand! (weighing more than a standard issue resin cast E-11) What a beautiful soul, wanting to help other children that don't have the ability to be children because of ongoing wars! Man I love trooping! Some other time a little boy came up to one of us and started talking and grabbed his hand and started pointing at things, wanting to show everything he liked and kept talking - then we see the mother starting to cry - and when someone asked her if everything was OK, she said yes and that she cried happy tears because this little boy had been silent for 3 months ever since his father had passed away This is why we do it!
  12. Welcome Marc and thank you for the great introduction! It gave me all the right kind of feels! When you build a costume yourself - you usually don't need to spend an unrealistic amount of money, and it sounds like you really want to do it! To start with, we can just take a look where we are... The FISD! One of the best places I know of - such a nerdy, helpful, active, engaging and rewarding place to be! Some people drag the build process out over some years and others do it in just a few weeks. There is only one way and that is your own way, and which ever way you choose, we will be here for you! Getting into the whole progress sharing with the community is such a quick flow to get into as you've already started by making this post! And thank you for that! If you would get to the point of starting to build an armor, everything would be asked and answered in a build thread and the ball would be rolling onwards after that! Regarding what armors to get, in the Swedish Garrison at least, it is pretty much split 50/50 between RS and TM (Troopermaster), and we have at least one SDS armor that I know of but we do not recommend those kits, as will the people buying those kits tell you since they have to do much extra work to get approved. Just to get a taste of what you would eventually be getting into: Imagine that you finally get to kick the legs up onto the couch at home after hours upon hours of waving, high fives, fist bumps, dancing, marching, taking images with people, feeling like a celebrity, people giving compliments on your armor thinking you look sooo cool, hearing sad stories and feeling great at heart after you realize you've made their day, collecting money for charity, meeting new friends that are just as passionate and nerdy as you are, sharing tips and helping troopers, put someone's shoulder bell on and be loved forever, getting compliments on your armor by troopers, and in the end knowing you have stood on a row as 1 of 10 TK's that has made a crowd speechless. This is currently what I'm thinking about as I've just arrived back home from a troop! I'm looking forward to follow your thought process and journey! Welcome to the FISD and initiating the first steps of one day hopefully becoming a TK!
  13. 9. 2022-12-18, Musikhjälpen Göteborg 2022 (The Music Help) (Hero) The last day! We have as of right now reached $7000, and will keep on collecting until the end of the year! It has been an amazing couple of days in the cold with lots and lots of dancing! A little girl donated her whole piggy bank! It almost broke me!
  14. 8. 2022-12-17, Musikhjälpen Göteborg 2022 (The Music Help) (Hero) Day 3 for me!
  15. 7. 2022-12-16, Musikhjälpen Göteborg 2022 (The Music Help) (Hero) Day 2 for me! Still going strong! Raised a lot of money today, over $2000! We're fighting the cold and we have many frozen troopers but we are out 2 hours at a time a couple times a day! Today we have our CO with us as a few of our troopers are invited into the studio to talk about the Legion and what we do! Here are some videos from yesterday's and today's event! https://imgur.com/a/wEC8Fyf Now some images! Met a colleague who of course wanted a picture!
  16. 6. 2022-12-15, Musikhjälpen Göteborg 2022 (The Music Help) (Hero) Day 1 for me! Pretty much the event of the year! A full week of celebrity hosts in a studio that broadcasts all hours of the day, to collect money for charity. There is a new theme for the charity every year and this year the theme is to collect money for children that gets their childhood robbed by ongoing wars. SG is out here in the cold, between -5 during the day and -12 degrees Celsius at night! Double undersuits and socks and gloves are needed to say the least! We stroll around on the square where the event is held and dance with people, hug people, take photos and of course help to collect money for the charity! We the TK's have unfortunately opted for no TD as the risk of getting it stolen are not worth wearing it! There are a lot of drunk people in the evenings that are unpredictable! Warm gloves is also something we've had to add since there is a risk of frostbite! I must say that I don't have many photos and mostly videos since the event is live on Swedish national television, but I've included some photos and screen grabs from yesterday's event! (2022-12-15) Mixed videos from yesterday's event and today's event that I'll post about at the end of the day! https://imgur.com/a/wEC8Fyf
  17. Hello Keith! Just reach out to your local GML!
  18. Welcome Brent! Now that some time has gone, do you know what the most likely build for you will be? Excited to hear your thought process! There are a lot of different angles and one can take on this like, most common, easiest to put together, the most unique and so on! Here is a list where we can see our costumes within the Legion!
  19. My case was a little too much since you can see my shadow in the very unfortunate lighting directly in front of me, and it is not at all that big in your case! I thought I'd just mention that it could minimize it even more and maybe even fit a little better even just with 1-2mm since it did wonders for my armor Just throught that if it was something that you had thought about it could be a good thing for me to just share, since I too have an RS armor and they tend to extend this particular edge! These comments doesn't affect the application anyway so don't take it as anything else than a tip for the future Excited to see that long awaited Centurion badge under your name Luca!
  20. Looking great Luca! I think it is so cool to see a Centurion application of a kit that has been used for 25 troops!!! Looking shiny as ever! One thing that I had to do was to sand/cut back this overlapping part of the ab plate, since it casted somewhat of a shadow on my images (and wasn't as accurate as having little to no edge). In my case it was quite nice to do so since the fit got more snug! I used sand paper as I felt it gave me more control! I'm not sure you have to do this though! Good luck!
  21. Something Yoda said comes to mind!
  22. Hello and welcome Terry! Boy oh boy did I refresh my package tracking page when I was waiting for mine! Amazing that you have taken the first steps! The excitement cannot be measured If you could extract electricity from it then I'd say the electricity for my Christmas lights would have been covered Do you plan on taking it all the way to Centurion? Hint hint nudge nudge In the meantime, here is a thread with very helpful info!
