  1. Congrats and welcome Kevin
  2. Here is where the trim line would need to be to make it L3 compliant.
  3. Welcome Craig. Can't wait to see photos of your first troop.
  4. Congratulations Craig
  5. Hi @Daveybobs I will be doing your EIB review. before I begin, can I ask you to please make sure all of your photos are showing in your application (not just links) and make sure you have all of the required photos. it appears that you may need to use imgur on a tablet or desktop device to get the direct links to work. It appears that the phone app is not working now. thanks
  6. Congratulations
  7. Welcome Dave. Looking forward to seeing your build
  8. Welcome Will. Looking forward to following your journey
  9. Hi Zachary, and thank you for your EIB application! CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All required photos have been submitted, and on behalf of the entire D.O. staff we are pleased to welcome you to the rank of Expert Infantry. Congratulations! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly; In this area we review observations made by your fellow troopers and the DO team. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor, and please keep in mind that we consider both text (CRL) and pictures (screen caps/reference images) when reviewing submissions. Helmet Ideally the line joining the screws on the ears will be in line with the back of the rear angle of the trap above them. CRL L3: Ideally, placement of ears (and screws) should closely follow the rear angle of the trap above them This issue will not affect approval as there is variation in the shape of helmet and ear pieces between armour types. It is merely mentioned as something to increase screen accuracy. References Your helmet is also sitting a bit high. For a more screen accurate look, we would suggest lowering it a bit. This can be done by removing some of the padding at the top of the helmet. In many cases, it may also improve your vision. References Shoulder Straps The elastic on your left shoulder strap is pulling out slightly. This may be corrected with some velcro between the ABS shoulder strap and the elastic one. Back Armor Please pay close attention when dressing to ensure that the back and kidney armor pieces are not overlapping. If this is a regular occurrence, some adjustments to the strapping may need to be made. References Lower Leg Armour For a more accurate screen appearance, you may wish to cut the sniper knee plate on an angle and not a curve References *************************************************** Centurion Requirements: In this section we prepare you for our highest tier of approval. Because Centurion photos must show more detail than EIB, items pertaining to Level 3 might be seen there and not here and additional photos may be required. We try to point out all that we can from what we are able to clearly see, but the final accuracy is the responsibility of the trooper. Shoulder Straps Your shoulder straps should be aligned in the middle of the tab of the back armor and should be symmetrical. This may be a dressing issue , or some adjustments may need to be made to the positioning of the straps to align them better. References Forearms You have done a great job removing the return edge on the wrist side of the forearms but there is still a small amount that could be removed. CRL L3: No return edge on the inside of the front of the forearm is allowed. References We would also like to see the sizing on the forearms reduced slightly to fit a bit tighter on your forearm, as yours are just a little bit too large. Please pay attention to ensure that they taper narrower at the wrist. References Abdomen The button plates on your abdomen have been cut with rounded corners. These should be square corners. CRL L3: Plate does not overlap the edges of this area and shall show a definite straight cut edge around all sides. References Your Han snap should be sitting a bit closer to the corner portion of the Abdominal plate. This will take a bit of effort to move but can be done by filling the original hole with ABS paste and repositioning the snap as shown below. CRL L3: A single male snap on the top right corner of the ab plate is present. For centurion level approval, you will need to add the rivets to the left side of the abdomen and kidney pieces. CRL L3: Three rivets, approximately 5/16"(8mm) diameter, are present on the left side of the abdomen armor. /Three rivets, approximately 5/16"(8mm) diameter, are present on the left side of the kidney plate. References Belt Your right drop box is positioned perfectly, but the left is a bit forward. The belt boxes should align with the end of the ammo belt. A small amount of E6000 to hold the elastic suspending the belt in place can help with ensuring proper positioning. CRL L3: Drop boxes are vertically aligned with the end of the ammo belt with minimal gap between belt and box. References The cut angles at the ends of the ABS belt should line up with the edges of the canvas belt. Some minor trimming will be needed for Centurion approval. CRL L3: The corners of the plastic ammo belt shall be trimmed at a 45 degree angle that that meets the outer edge of the cloth belt. References We will need the velcro shortened a bit on your belt as it should not be visible once the belt is closed. CRL L3: Canvas belt can not contain patches of any sort. References Thermal Detonator Your thermal detonator is sitting a bit too low on the belt. This can be corrected by lowering the return that goes over the belt on the thermal detonator clips. References Thigh Armour The mobility cuts on your thigh pieces extend a bit to far and go beyond the top of the raised ridge. Unfortunately, this will likely need to be corrected by replacing the thigh pieces or reconstructing the raised ridge. CRL L3: Any mobility cuts on the back do not extend beyond the top of the raised ridge. References
  10. Thanks Zachary. We will get back to you ASAP.
  11. Congratulations on your approval and welcome to the 501st.
  12. Hey Dan, Here are a couple of builds that used them.
  13. Hey Dan, Overall, sizing looks good. A few things to note however. You will want to get your belt a bit lower in the back. The top front corners of your posterior plate are flaring out. This can be corrected with strapping there or "V tabs" Finally, you may want to trim back the return edge on the tops of the thighs. This could cause some pretty uncomfortable pinching.
  14. Hi Marcus, Your armor looks great and I think you should be very close for basic approval. There are a few areas that may get called by your GML though, but ultimately it is up to them. One thing you may find when you start trooping is that your return edges are quite prominent and you may find that armor bite could be an issue. See how things feel once you start wearing it and if you are having issues, we are here to help. With your helmet, The vocoder paint on the right side looks like it could use a bit of clean up to sharpen the edge. This can be done by scratching off the paint with a toothpick dipped in varsol or mineral spirits. Do not use Acetone as it will melt the plastic. For your eyes, they could be trimmed back a bit more as there is still some return edge there and it gives the eyes a bit of a droopy look. This should be a fairly simple sanding session, as long as your lens is not too hard to remove. With your belt, the end is sticking up and it should be tacked down. This can be done by extending the velcro, or trimming the belt a bit to ensure that the end is tucked under the thermal detonator. Your left shin is opening a bit. It looks like you are using hook and eyes for closure. You may need to adjust the position of the hooks to ensure a proper closure.
  15. Welcome back Christian.
  16. Hi Matt. your costumes look great and it is awesome that your son is interested in joining when he is old enough. For people under 18, there is the galactic academy which is also a recognized LFL costume group. This link will show you where they have groups. Hopefully one is close to you. http://www.galactic-academy.net/Home/Map
  17. Thank you for the corrections @stormztrooper1. I fixed your posts to direct links for you, so the photos show on the post. Now we just need you to suit up again with the strapping and under suit adjustments, so we can see that the armor is all sitting properly (see above comments) and we will be good to complete your review.
  18. Hi Justin, and thank you for your EIB application! There are just a couple of dressing issues to watch when knitting up. Posterior Armor Your Posterior armor plate is tilting upward in the front. This is likely a dressing issue and care should be taken to ensure that it is sitting straight. References Belt Your belt is sitting a bit low on the right side. Again, this is a dressing issue and should be an easy fix. References *************************************************** Centurion Requirements: In this section we prepare you for our highest tier of approval. Because Centurion photos must show more detail than EIB, items pertaining to Level 3 might be seen there and not here and additional photos may be required. We try to point out all that we can from what we are able to clearly see, but the final accuracy is the responsibility of the trooper. For Centurion Approval, we will need to to switch your gaskets to rubber ones. CRL L3: Gaskets shall be made of rubber. Fabric gaskets are not acceptable. References F-11D Blaster Your blaster is missing the pitcanny rail on the right side of the barrel. CRL L3: Blaster must have a picatinny rail on the right side of barrel References
  19. Thank you @TheRascalKing Justin for getting those photos uploaded. The blaster looks great. Now we just need you to suit up once more with the correction to the belt and posterior plate and we should be good to go. With respect to these items, the costume is well approvable at this level, but for the sake of future applicants, we need to have everything positioned properly in the photos. I know that this is simply a dressing issue, but if we allow these “dressing issues” to be present, future applicants looking at the reviews for guidance need to have photos that clearly show the proper fit and placement of the armour. This way, they are more able to reference the photos for their own builds / applications.
  20. Welcome David. Looks like you are off to a great start. Looking forward to following your build.
  21. Hello Gerry. Welcome aboard.
  22. Hi Justin, Your build looks amazing and we are really close to EIB approval. We just have a couple of dressing issues to correct and some modifications to the blaster. Posterior Armor Your Posterior armor plate is tilting upward in the front. This is likely a dressing issue and care should be taken to ensure that it is sitting straight. References Belt Your belt is sitting a bit low on the right side. Again, this is a dressing issue and should be an easy fix. References F-11D Blaster Please note that the corrections requested below are based on the current CRL, which is what we need to follow. Subsequent to our previous pole following the application from @equuspoloon the issue of variations in the D ring and pitcany rail on the blasters, we are planning on updating the CRL to allow these variations but are unable to currently due to Legion level changes in the CRL platform. Once we have these in place, we will be able to consider these variants of the blaster but for now, we need to use the current CRL as our reference. If you choose to not make the changes to the blaster, I can not give you a time frame for when the changes will be made. It will depend on when the new platform is fully up and running and we are able to make edits. The details on the left and right side of the blaster shown below should have some white accents on the raised ridges. CRL L1: Details to be painted black, white and silver per reference photos. References The D ring is absent on your blaster CRL L2: D-Ring shall be present on the rear end cap, rectangular in shape and painted white References
  23. Welcome John. or should I say welcome back?
