  1. Hi Roger. Welcome to the FISD. For a proper costume, you will likely be looking in the $1500 to $2000 range, depending on how much work you want to put into it yourself. As Glen mentioned, research is the key. So many people have just jumped in with 2 feet and found that they paid more for a costume that does not have the desired accuracy. Take your time, look over the above link and figure out which costume you want to do and then go from there. You will find lots of people here happy to assist you along your journey.
  2. Congratulations. Well done
  3. Congratulations and welcome to the FISD.
  4. Welcome and congratulations
  5. Hi Greg. welcome to the FISD. You are in for an amazing journey and as mentioned above, is introverts really do change personality when armoured up. I look forward to following your build.
  6. Welcome to FISD Tom. You will find a wealth of knowledge here to get you on your way.
  7. Ultimately, it would be up to your GML if it will be acceptable for basic approval. At higher levels of approval, We would likely request it to be moved out from under the neck seal. As it is a fairly easy correction. I would recommend just moving it.
  8. I have not done a painted TK helmet but did a death trooper one that has a very gloss black finish (mirror glossy). I did do a wet sand between coats to make sure there were no imperfections that would carry through to the top coats. After the 2K clear coat, I buffed it with a cutting compound and then a polishing compound with an electric car polisher to get the shine. If you are not going for a high gloss finish however, you can likely get away without the sanding between coats as I did on my daughter's clone trooper helmet
  9. Welcome Henry. I look forward to following your journey
  10. Hi Kaleb. We can definitely help with your costume. To upload photos, you will need to use a photo storage site like imgur or flickr . Most use imgur except those in the UK as it won’t work for them. Here is a great place to start looking at everything that you will need for your journey (assuming you are looking at doing a stormtrooper costume. These links specifically will help with getting photos posted so we can help you get to the point of approval.
  11. Welcome to the forums. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

  14. As per our conversation, we will wait for new photos to proceed with this review.
  15. Congratulations and welcome Dennis
  16. Hi Graeme, We are so close to your EIB approval. Your thermal detonator adjustment is perfect but we just need a touch more adjusting on the arm armour. We want to see the gaps at the wrist and elbow be similar in size. Your right biceps is sitting a bit lower than your left and your forearms still need to come down a bit (especially on the right side). This should be a fairly easy strapping adjustment. Keep up the good work. References
  17. Hi Alexander, thank you for your EIB application. Before we move ahead with the approval, we are going to need some adjustments to your armour. Helmet Your hovi tips will need a touch of white paint around the rim. This should be a fairly quick and easy fix. CRL L2: Correct Aerators/Hovi-MIX tips are present. Screens used shall be of a wide type mesh, with the rim of the mic and the inside white or painted white. References Shoulder straps Your shoulder straps appear to be secured with velcro in the back. This is fine for basic and EIB approval but we would like to see the velcro hidden a bit better. Idealy we would recommend to remove the velcro and secure the straps with the thin white elastics required for level 3 approval. References Shoulder armour Your shoulder armour is sitting too high. This is likely a result of the biceps armour not being positioned properly and causing the shoulder bells to be pushed upward. Correcting the biceps position should fix the issue. References Biceps Your biceps armour will need to be properly positioned. It should be strapped in such a way to allow it to sit underneath the shoulder bell as well as rotate inward somewhat. This will allow your shoulder bells to come down some and sit properly a well. It should be a fairly routine adjustment to the strapping between the shoulder bell and biceps armour. References Forearms Your forearms are sitting a bit too low. The gap between the biceps and forearm should be equal to the gap between the forearm and hand plate. Once the biceps armour is properly positioned, this should correct the issue. References Posterior Armour Your posterior armour is pushing back some. This is not uncommon to see and is often referred to "trooper butt". It can be corrected with the use of "V tabs" to hold the posterior plate in tighter alignment with the kidney plate. References Thigh Armour The cover strip on your left thigh armour is a bit too long and is overlapping the raised ridge at the bottom of the thigh. This should be a fairly simple trim to correct the issue. CRL Basic: Cover strip must end at the top of the lower ridge in front and back. References Your right thigh is sitting under your cod section. There should be a small gap between the cod and thigh armour. This should be a fairly simple strapping adjustment and will also help improve mobility and prevent armour bite. References Lower leg armour Your sniper knee plate is not positioned correctly. It needs to be raised on the inner aspect and on both the left and right sides, it needs to be aligned with the ridge at the top of the shin armour. CRL L2: Sniper knee plate must be aligned with the ridges on the shin. References Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
  18. I would think that the seam will be hidden under the belt. If it is, then it should not affect approval. Ultimately it is up to your GML though. For the ears and shins ABS paste, just sanding with incrementally increasing grit up to 2000 or so and then polishing, should remove the texture of the filling.

    Thank you all

    Congratulations on 1 year.
  20. Welcome back Kevin, Looking forward to following your build.
  21. Hi Brent, it is great to see you back at working towards your EIB certificate. I have looked over your updates and you have made great progress towards your approval. There are just a few more things to fix and we will be there. I am going to post from the original review to go over each of the requested corrections. 1. Vocoder paint correction looks good. 2. Shoulder strap adjustments You have corrected the lift on the left shoulder strap and evened out the length of the straps but the right strap is now shifted outwards. This should be an easy fix as it appears you do not have the small white elastics that are required for centurion approval holding the back of the straps in place. Simply adding these will likely correct the issue. Reference 3. Posterior Armour flaring out at the sides. This has been corrected. 4. Thermal detonator Control panel size has been corrected. Screw type is now the correct one. We just need you to adjust the positioning of the control panel so it faces backwards. Your thermal detonator control panel is facing a bit too much upward instead of to the back. This can be corrected by carefully unrolling the lower portion of the clips to roll the thermal detonator down. CRL L1: The white control panel raised ribbed pad faces the rear, with the controls/round washer style detail closest to the right end cap. References 5. Lower Leg Armour Closure has been corrected to outside over inside Just watch when dressing to ensure that the inner and outer parts of the shins are aligned. Reference Sniper knee plate shape is corrected and is good. 6. Blaster You have done a great job removing print lines and adjusting placement of the Hengstler counter and shortening the magazine. but there are still a few print lines visible along the length of the barrel that will need to be removed. Finally, take care when dressing to ensure overall alignment of the armour is straight.
  22. @Brent Seymour hi Brent. sorry we missed the update post a few weeks back. I will reactivate the application take a look at it and get back to you ASAP.
