  1. Depending on how you are going to strap your kit, you may need some return edge at the bottom of the back and chest plates and at the top of the kidney and ab plates to attach the hooks if you opt to do them that way. Even if you opt for elastic / nylon strapping with snaps, you will still want some return edge there. Your photos look like you are trimming a bit too much.
  2. Hi Jay. One option that you could look into is a local costume rental shop. I know of one near me (Ontario, so no good for you, but maybe you can find one near you) that rents storm trooper and Darth Vader costumes, they are not at the same level as the 501st ones, but they are pretty good and would likely not be noticeably different to an untrained eye. Wishing your grandson strength to fight this terrible condition .
  3. Hi Jeff. Welcome. Exciting times are on the way. Looking forward to seeing some pics when your kit arrives.
  4. I had the same problem and rigged up suspenders and they work very well
  5. That lower one can be awkward to reach
  6. Great start on your build. Keep up the good work.
  7. Name: Gerald Costume ANH EB (Easter bunny) Requesting EB status for this costume. Looking forward to hiding goodies around the deathstar next weekend.
  8. Congrats on your journey soon coming to fruition. Looking forward to seeing photos.
  9. Congratulations Sherry, welcome to Expert Infantry. Have a great time on your first TK troop. Looking forward to your centurion application. You’ve got this.
  10. I use this system as well. They are not as loud as the Tramp or Aker amps but do give decent volume. I find you can’t run them at 100% volume or you get feedback because the hovi tips are fairly close to the speaker. ‘I used mine in a santa clause parade last year and had an mp3 player connected playing carol of the bells version of the imperial March and it was plenty loud enough.
  11. Congratulations Gary. Welcome to expert infantry
  12. Hello Brandon and welcome to the FISD. Glad to see you aiming for level 3 centurion right off the bat. That is what I did and have no regrets. Looking forward to watching your build.
  13. Hi Alan. Welcome to the FISD. Looking forward to following this build. You are already making great progress.
  14. Congratulations on your approval. Make sure you start a troop log when you start trooping.
  15. Congrats on your approval Gary. We are here to help you get to EIB and centurion.
  16. Congratulations Sherry. Looking forward to your EIB application.
  17. Awesome. Let’s get that EI under your belt
  18. That would be fun.
  19. Haven’t run it much yet. But butane is cheap and the fun is invaluable.
  20. So at my last con I trooped at, Hacksmith Industries was there (known for producing the first real working lightsaber). I picked up one of their mini sabres and have been using it to seal the cut edges of the nylon and elastic straps. This makes my wife happy because I no longer have to steal her butane torch and I am very happy because it is just fun to turn this little guy on.
