  1. Way to go Justin! L3 by the weekend? ;-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Here are two helpful threads regarding using image hosting sites, in this case, Imgur. https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/48799-posting-photos-using-imgur-101/ https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/42381-howto-post-images-in-threads-using-imgur-easy/ Personally, I use flickr, and my free account has a cap of 1,000 images. Some others pay to use Photobucket.
  3. On the wrist end of the forearm you should follow the red line and make sure there is absolutely no return edge for L3. @justjoseph63 has an excellent return edge tutorial thread. On the elbow end of the forearm you can trim to comfort. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. That trimming looks excellent, and will definitely be approvable through L3! The only thing to note is that@CableGuy would encourage trimming the side edges all the way vertical, as shown in the marked photo below. It’s one of those small details that some builders address, and others don’t. You’re definitely on track with matching the plate return profile with the shin. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. It appears that you’ve cut close enough there on the bottom, and that your side edges are vertical, which is most screen-accurate. You may want to post a profile angle photo so we can see your trimming on the top. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Sweet looking blaster! I’m sure it feels super solid in-hand. How heavy is it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Finally just caught up on this thread, as I was about 40 posts behind. With your post lengths that was quite a read. Fantastic progress and excellent documentation! This will sure be a helpful resource, along with Jeff’s and Justin’s threads, for future builders! Our of curiosity, what files did you use for your Mando helmet and the E-11? It’s possible that I simply missed that somewhere along the way. =) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Here comes Justin trying to give Glen a run for his money with the number of EI awards! Haha. Congrats on your approval! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Great progress thus far, Mark! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed lurking and following your build, and can relate to the cyclist leg-fitting challenges. Haha. My thigh pieces were a bit tight when I test fit them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. As Glen says, with the exception of the rear-facing calves, all butt-joint limb pieces should be glued, including front-facing and rear-facing, and outer and inner (if used) cover strips. For the calves you would glue the forward-facing outer cover strip, and it is highly recommended to also use an inner cover strip on the front to reinforce the clamshell movement. The rear-facing outer calf cover strips should be glued only to the outside edge (the side closest to your smallest toe). Generally there are three types of rear calf closures: Adhesive velcro, bra hooks with elastic, or magnetic. Velcro is easiest, the hooks are most screen-accurate, and magnets are the cleanest-looking. If you opt for the magnet route, definitely check out Christine’s (Cricket) tutorial. A link is included in my TK reference thread. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Definitely follow AJ’s lead. I even compiled a PDF of his thread and posted the link in one of the last comments. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Very nice. Perspectives can deceive you; don’t trust them. Haha. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Hi Rob! Here is an image/link from my own ATA build which might be helpful to you, although I know Mario already fixed you up with a good image. I find that visuals are always helpful. Additionally, here's a note regarding the bulge at the top of the bicep; it's recommended that it actually be removed. Here's are some photos from and link to Joseph's guide to return edges.
  14. Very cool, Christine. Look sir, droids! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Congrats Bryan! Always fun to see another ATA at L3! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. As Justin says, definitely check out Hellhounds. I have one of their E-11s from their very first run from about a year ago, and it looks and feels fantastic! I actually created a detailed photo review thread of it which is designed to be viewed alongside with kman’s Praetorian vs Hyperfirm thread. Here’s the link: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/48449-rubber-e-11-blaster-hellhounds-photo-review-vs-hyperfirm-praetorian/ Daniel is pretty responsive to IG messages, and as Justin linked to, he’s also on FB. Hope this helps! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. FIANCÉ! Congrats man! And looking good in that armor, as always! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Definitely take Glen’s advice on this. Anybody can say anything on Etsy or eBay, but the truth lies with the vetted sellers thread. Be aware, too, that FISD staff have a standard of not showing favoritism towards any one particular armor maker, so you’ll need to research on the forum then ask specific questions regarding your top choices. RS and CFO are the two vendors who casted from original screen-used suits, so they would be considered the most accurate and closest to screen-used. Personally I would love to get my hands on an RS. Different makers size their suits differently, so shorter, or heavier builders might need different kits, which is why there are multiple vendors out there. I’ve been working on an ATA suit, which is about as cheap as you can get on the vetted list. Check them out (Facebook) since you’re on a tight budget, and you may also find my build thread helpful, as I took photos of all the pieces raw and untrimmed. You’ll get an idea of exactly what you’d receive in the big brown box. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Yeah as Glen said, there is very limited screen time. I believe I read somewhere that only four were used/produced. You might have better luck using MG 34 images for modeling. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Several months ago, aka a year! Haha, no worries man. I too lurked for a while actually before even creating an account. Congrats on your RS purchase; you’re gonna love it! Continue with your research, and post lots of photos and questions on a build thread, and you’ll be just fine. I have a resource link in my forum signature below which might be of help to you. =) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Hi Ted! As others have said, almost any armor from the vetted vendors list can taken to EI and Centurion levels; some kits may simply require more work than others. The first two links below are the L2 and L3 request forums which you can browse to see the common armor makers. The last link is to a resource thread I made which includes a long list of what I thought were extra-helpful/quality build and submission/request threads towards the bottom of my initial post (you'll need to scroll down quite a bit). https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/19-request-expert-infantryman-status/ https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/72-request-centurion-status/ https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/49412-all-in-one-tk-anh-stunt-index-of-resources-by-maskedvengeance/ I hope this is helpful to you!
  22. Thank YOU, Dan, for the fantastic resources you’ve contributed to the forum! Only recently I was actually marveling at your three-year journey, and comparing it to my 10 months on the forum thus far. Talk about a fast progression on your part! I’m still in the infancy stage myself, or perhaps still “unborn.” Haha. Looking forward to many more finer-detail gems from you for years to come! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Welcome to FISD, Jessica! From one TX (Amarillo/SA) native to another, Go Spurs Go! *EDIT- Somehow I missed the part where you mentioned already being approved, so I've revised my initial comment. I think I was too excited about you being from SA.*
  24. Worry not; you’ll have tons of help here on FISD, and as you allude to, it’s not a race. And even if it were, it’s a marathon, not a sprint! Post up lots of photos and questions, and you’ll be just fine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Welcome back Dave! I know all about life getting in the way, so I feel for and am excited for you! I’m jealous of your RS kit and will be excited to follow along on your continued build! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
